Chapter 26: That’s Enough!

After resolving the crisis at school, Su Xiaoxiao set off on the path home.

Her mind was still a mess, but she’d calmed down enough to clearly grasp everything that had happened up to this point.
She, once an Exterminator, had now become a Bloodkin.

With this power, she not only survived the Bloodkin invasion but also reshaped her body, gaining a new lease on life.

It sounded like a pretty good deal.

But the cost was becoming a girl—and a Bloodkin at that.

She never expected something like this to happen.

Su Xiaoxiao, who had never imagined living as a Bloodkin, still felt a bit dazed.
Deep down, she knew she was fundamentally different from them in her beliefs.

She would never truly become one of the Bloodkin—she stood with humanity.

Her arrangement with the Bloodkin girl of the thirteenth bloodline was merely a temporary alliance, a mutual use.
She and the Bloodkin had a history of intense conflict, but for now, their enemies aligned.

But what would her life become moving forward?

What did the Vice Staff Officer of the Rose Legion mean?
Were the Bloodkin already preparing to attack this city?
What had happened between the Bloodkin and humans during her year-long absence?

It felt like a dream.
She should’ve died long ago.

So many incomprehensible things had happened.
In the Red Lotus Depths of the Otherbeast War, when she was on the brink of death, why had she seen Little Butterfly again, who should’ve long since retreated?

What happened to Little Butterfly afterward?

There were still so many unanswered questions.
It seemed fate had decreed she wasn’t meant to perish just yet.

Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but look up at the sky, at the shocking purple void rift scarring the heavens.

So, her story… was it still ongoing?

“But this is bad.
How am I supposed to explain this to my sister?”

Su Xiaoxiao snapped back to the immediate issue at hand.

Her sister had likely never encountered the conflict between Bloodkin and Exterminators.
If she suddenly told her she’d become a Bloodkin, would she be able to handle it mentally?
Would she even understand what a Bloodkin was?

Calling it a vampire might be easier to grasp.

If she’d turned into a dashing silver-haired Bloodkin boy,

Maybe her starry-eyed sister would throw reason and logic out the window for a handsome face.
But instead, her inherited bloodline had turned her into a petite girl.

If she could just calm her sister down first and explain slowly, maybe she’d understand?

For the past year, Su Xiaoxiao had done her best to shield her sister from the dark side of the world—the threats from the Otherworld and the Exterminators.
But now, she had no choice but to reveal some of the truth.

She knew this couldn’t be hidden.

As the conflict between Bloodkin and humans intensified, it would all come to light eventually.

Along the way, Su Xiaoxiao clutched her oversized clothes and pants, which had fallen off her shrunken frame, moving quickly.
Taking advantage of the lingering chaos outside the school, she dashed straight toward home.

Luckily, she stuck to secluded paths and went unnoticed.

She returned home as silently as a ghost.

The elevator rose slowly, emitting soft “thud-thud” sounds.
Su Xiaoxiao’s heart was a tangled mess.
When it reached her floor, the doors slid open, and she finally stood before the familiar entrance to her home.

Looking down, she saw the pair of white sneakers weren’t at the door yet.
It seemed she’d beaten her sister home.

“That girl… I was held up at school for so long, and I still got home first?
Did she hear school was canceled and run off to hang out with friends?”

On second thought, that seemed impossible.

With all the chaos outside, who’d be in the mood to go shopping?

Still, as long as her sister was safe, that was the best outcome.

Su Xiaoxiao fished the key out of her pants, but suddenly, a sense of unease hit her.
Normally, she could easily unlock the door with a low reach, but now she had to slightly raise her wrist.

“Hm?”

She tried turning the key, but it felt stuck, refusing to budge.

She glanced suspiciously at her small hand.

Had her strength weakened?
Without channeling Bloodkin power, was this all she had?

But she didn’t dare use her Bloodkin strength—it was so intense she couldn’t control it finely.
She might end up punching the door clean off, sending it flying into the neighbor’s living room across the building.

“Need some help, cutie?”
Evran’s voice came from beside her, tinged with playful teasing.

“What did you say?”
Su Xiaoxiao’s eyes flashed crimson and sharp.
“Fall into the abyss with me…”

“Stop, stop, stop!
Don’t start yelling your ultimate move line again!
I don’t want to go to hell just yet—I’m having way too much fun.
Having Your Excellency Flash as my kin is just chef’s kiss~”

Su Xiaoxiao’s cheeks flushed red instantly, realizing her reaction was indeed a bit girlish.

Seeing her innocent response, Evran’s eyes gleamed with excitement.
Her mind was already racing with fanciful, suggestive thoughts.
This version was so much easier to get along with than the old, brooding, cold guy.

Unbeknownst to Su Xiaoxiao, Evran’s imagination had already soared a million miles away.

“Don’t underestimate me.
I’ll do it myself.”

Resisting Evran’s half-mocking, half-flirtatious tone, Su Xiaoxiao kept twisting the key.
Their door lock was finicky to begin with—without some strength, it wouldn’t open.

Even her sister Su Xiao Zi had gotten stuck a few times, frustrated enough to kick the door.

With a “click,” Su Xiaoxiao, face red from effort, finally got it open.

She let out a long breath, only for Evran to lean in close again, her eyes glinting mischievously as she murmured:

“So fragrant~
Su Xiaoxiao smells so good—”

“Bloodkin, know your limits—!”

Evran puffed out her cheeks, muttering:

“Tch~ You think you’re scary?
You’re way too cute like this…”
