Chapter 39: I’ll Take Care of You

Su Xiaoxiao’s mood was a bit complicated right now.

She was currently wearing a dress from Su Xiao Zi’s junior high days, and it fit surprisingly well, almost uncannily so.

She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but wearing her sister’s old clothes made her feel as if a trace of her sister’s presence lingered around her.

Soft, warm, as if the junior high version of her sister was by her side at all times.

The faint fragrance from her own body mingled with this sweet scent, quietly intertwining.

Standing in front of the room’s mirror, she stared intently at her reflection, her face filled with shock and disbelief, mixed with a rising sense of shame.

She never imagined her first time cross-dressing would happen like this.

Wearing a dress as an actual girl felt strangely delicate.

Her bare feet stood obediently in a slight pigeon-toed stance, her alluring ankles shyly exposed to the air.
Above them, her perfectly curved, fair legs nestled close together.

The hem of the skirt reached the middle of her thighs, revealing that absolute territory unique to girls.

Su Xiaoxiao felt a bit uneasy, the cool breeze under the skirt a stark contrast to the airtight pants she’d worn for over a decade as a boy.
No wonder boys were always roughhousing, while girls were so poised and gentle—wearing a pleated skirt like this, any big movement would be troublesome.

Hence the invention of safety shorts.

Subconsciously, Su Xiaoxiao extended a slender, jade-like finger, tentatively touching that spot through the skirt’s fabric.
Her body jolted as if shocked by electricity, and she quickly yanked her hand back.

Good.
Standard outcome.
Nothing there.

Above the skirt was a stylish off-shoulder top, pure and radiant like a white lotus, accentuating her smooth, round shoulders and the alluring lines of her collarbones.

On top of the original cute style, it added a touch of fresh, feminine charm.

As Su Xiaoxiao studied her reflection, Su Xiao Zi grabbed a comb and hair tie from the vanity, gently brushing her freshly dried silver hair with a horn comb.

The smooth texture of her silver hair felt incredibly soft to the touch.

Su Xiao Zi thought for a moment before styling her brother’s hair into twin buns—absolutely adorable.

Su Xiaoxiao immediately voiced her dissatisfaction, complaining the hairstyle was too childish.
After some back-and-forth, Su Xiao Zi switched it to a high ponytail, instantly transforming her into a fresh, goddess-like figure.

“Ugh…”
Su Xiaoxiao clutched her head in frustration, starting to question her entire existence.

In her sister’s room, Su Xiaoxiao had finally, after much ado, put on girls’ clothes.
Though it felt odd to wear her sister’s old things, it was much better than the empty, oversized feeling from before.

After sorting everything out, the two sat together on the bed.

“No matter how many times I look, it’s still unbelievable.
It feels like a dream.
Hahaha, Brother, you’re so cute.”

“Stop making fun of me.
I don’t even know what happened.
If I can, I’ll figure out a way to turn back…
But the worst-case scenario is if I can’t turn back.”

“If you can’t turn back, does that mean you’ll be my sister forever?”

“No way, don’t say that!”
Su Xiaoxiao sat cross-legged on the bed, letting out a sigh.

But if Otherbeasts or Bloodkin invaded the city through void rifts again, she now had the power to protect others—and, more importantly, to protect her sister.

She’d have to seize every chance to master her Bloodkin powers.

When Su Xiao Zi learned that she might lose her brother and gain a sister instead, she didn’t seem all that shocked.
She just kept staring into Su Xiaoxiao’s eyes, deep in thought.

Her brother had turned into a little girl for some unknown reason.
If they could figure out the cause, there might be a chance to reverse it.

But if it was truly due to the Bloodkin’s embrace, that would be tricky, as it was clearly an irreversible ritual.
If it were just some prankish magic, it wouldn’t be too bad…

In the end, her brother had been dragged into this mess.

How had those Bloodkin even entered the city?
The Order’s barrier wasn’t something a few Bloodkin could breach…
And at the start, above the void rift, they’d detected an overwhelmingly powerful energy fluctuation, far exceeding the limits of their detectors.

At least one ultra-high-spec Otherbeast had descended… capable of destroying the entire city.

Yet, in reality, it never appeared.

She’d need to carefully check with the Research Society later for more details.

“Don’t worry, Brother!
I’ll contact Big Sister later.
She works at the research institute, so there’s got to be a way to help you turn back.
Just… be prepared for the possibility.”

“If it really doesn’t work, you’ll just have to get used to life as a girl.”

“But don’t worry, I’ll take good care of you.”
Su Xiao Zi winked at Su Xiaoxiao.

Tears welled up in her eyes, her heart warmed by the gesture.

Su Xiaoxiao felt her sister was finally being serious and reliable.
This kind of care made her realize all her doting on her sister hadn’t been in vain—Xiao Zi was dependable when it mattered.

But somehow, her sister’s gaze held a trace of indulgence…
This girl was totally a sister-con, wasn’t she!?

Sitting dazedly on the big bed, Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but shiver.
