X
In a city of towering skyscrapers.
On the edge of a certain rooftop, a solitary figure sat on the steps outside the guardrail.
The young man, clad in a black shirt over a white one, with a slender silver sword suspended at his waist, had one foot dangling a hundred meters above the ground, overlooking the peaceful night city, his gaze as deep as an abyss.
Behind him, the city lights flickered, neon signs gleamed, but they could not conceal the chilling aura emanating from him.
Suddenly, a tall figure stepped out from the dark shadows.
The person wore a magnificent military uniform, a rose emblem on his chest gleaming under the moonlight, showcasing aristocratic prestige.
He was Julius, the Staff Officer of the Rose Legion. His face was stern, his gaze like a knife, as he stared at the swordsman with his back to him, speaking in a cold tone: “Sheffield, all deployable forces of the Rose Legion are in position.”
“Now, it’s your turn to tell me, where is the Legion Commander.”
Sheffield, the young swordsman, a slight smirk played on his lips, tinged with playfulness and composure.
He didn’t turn around, simply gazing leisurely at the night city below, his tone calm yet carrying an undeniable authority: “Don’t rush, Staff Officer. I can assure you, I didn’t kill him. However, if you want to save him, you’ll have to perform well.”
He slowly stood up, his back to Julius. The wind rustled his black shirt, its hem dancing lightly in the night sky.
Sheffield’s voice was deep and clear: “I went to great lengths to take out an SS-rank Orderly Exterminator, just so you could smoothly enter this city. I even suffered a small injury for it. So, whatever you do, don’t disappoint me—your Legion Commander’s life is entirely in your hands.”
A crimson glow flashed in Julius’s eyes, anger burning fiercely in his chest.
Some time ago, this uninvited guest named Sheffield had intruded upon the Rose Legion’s territory, swiftly defeating the Legion Commander, the Blood Dragon King, and using his life as leverage to force the entire legion to obey him.
‘A human, daring to so wantonly trample on the dignity of the Rose Legion!’
Julius’s heart churned with humiliation and rage.
What made it even harder for him to accept was that another Vice Staff Officer of the legion, unwilling to endure such humiliation, rashly challenged Sheffield, only to be instantly torn apart and killed on the spot, his body shattered.
That scene intimidated everyone and made Julius realize that Sheffield’s strength far exceeded their imagination. Now, facing this unmatched opponent, preserving the Legion Commander’s life was their sole objective.
The Blood Dragon King’s whereabouts remained a mystery, and Sheffield remained tight-lipped.
The young man walked up to Julius, extended a finger, and lightly tapped the rose emblem on his chest.
That touch was like a silent warning:
—If this battle failed, the Rose Legion would be annihilated.
Julius suppressed his anger, his voice low and restrained: “And what about you? Just going to watch the show?”
Sheffield’s eyes flickered with a cold light upon hearing this.
The next instant, his figure flashed, appearing ghost-like behind Julius, his hand gently resting on his shoulder, his voice so low it was almost a whisper, yet carrying an icy chill: “What I intend to do, you do not need to know too clearly. You only need to understand that if I wished for you to sleep here forever, it would take but a lift of my hand.”
Julius looked sideways, giving him a cold glance:
“At least tell me, who is your target? Lest I accidentally kill her in battle.”
Sheffield’s gaze slightly narrowed, he slowly released his hand, looked at his palm, and murmured: “A girl… an old friend of mine. She also seems to have a sister who lives in this city. I need their power.”
He clenched his fist, a flicker of obsession in his eyes.
‘Phantom’s power alone wasn’t enough, not enough to fulfill his ultimate wish.’
“Next, it’s the Rose Legion’s turn to enter the stage.”
Sheffield pondered for a moment, then suddenly spread his arms, turned his back to the edge of the rooftop, and leaned backward. A hundred meters above the ground, he fell like a leaf, and with a whoosh, his figure instantly vanished into the night.
“Su Xiao Zi, long time no see.”
Sheffield’s voice echoed in the night wind, “Regarding your brother, I am sorry… the Captain will never return. Therefore, I need this powerful Sacred Forbidden power even more.”
“Entrust this power to me.”
