Chapter 89: Clash of Lords

As the violet-black and gray-blue energies clashed, a powerful energy storm instantly swept across the planet. Had any observer from the Origin Star Universe been watching, they would have been utterly stunned by the sight.

All those infamous, fearless Hell Beasts recorded in their annals now lay prostrate on the ground, trembling like frightened puppies. Among them were even the Celestial Hell Beasts.

The most special of these was naturally the Celestial Hell Beast—Juanluan, bound deep underground. Since sensing her lord’s return, she had been desperately trying to break free from the gray chains left by Jie. But the gray crystals covering her feathers ceaselessly absorbed her energy, leaving her powerless.

Helpless, she could only gaze at the ceiling above and emit a series of mournful cries. Her emerald eyes were filled with anxiety.

On the surface, where the Blazing Sunstone Palace once stood.

But now, the original landscape was utterly unrecognizable. The massive black trees had vanished without a trace, replaced by an endless expanse of gray glacial sea and the scorched earth hidden beneath the ice.

In the sky,

Violet-black and gray-blue lights continuously collided. Each impact produced vast energy fluctuations. Had the battle taken place on Blue Star, humanity would have been wiped out by the shockwaves.

Yet as time passed and the collision frequency increased,

The violet-black light grew dimmer, its momentum completely suppressed by the icy gray-blue aura. But it still charged desperately toward the undiminished gray-blue light cluster.

With another lightning-fast exchange,

“BOOM!!”

A towering pillar of energy erupted through the clouds, shooting straight into the dark abyss of the outer realm. The blast’s shockwave instantly turned the entire surface—that frozen land of powerful Shadow Force—into nothing but scorched earth.

As the explosion subsided, a figure emitting a faint purple light hurtled out from the explosion and crashed heavily onto the charred ground.

‘It seems I’m still a bit outmatched against an Abyssal Lord in this state,’

‘But the situation isn’t too bad. Other Abyssal Lords would have sent their minions to gang up on me by now.’

Xi Yue struggled to stand, assessing her condition while remaining alert for her opponent’s next attack.

Her entire body was covered in wounds. The searing pain from the Hellfire combined with the intensely corrosive ice needles Jie had driven into her made her almost unable to bear it.

Her usual calm expression now showed a hint of agony. Coupled with the broken violet-crystal longsword in her hand and the seemingly dying purple energy dragon lying beside her, it created a poignant scene.

Jie, hovering in midair, was delighted by the sight, barely able to contain his glee.

“Hahahaha! Look at you, such a pathetic mess! Haha! Who would have thought you’d end up like this!” Jie’s unrestrained laughter filled the sky and earth.

“Merely taking advantage of a weakened foe,” Xi Yue replied, gritting her teeth.

“So what? If I can kill you, why not take advantage?”

Compared to Xi Yue, Jie was almost unscathed—just a few hundred deep sword marks on his hard metal armor.

Seeing his former tormentor now standing before him battered and bruised, Jie felt an indescribable relief.

‘But that ice-cold beauty becomes even more alluring with a pained expression… I can’t wait to see more expressions of agony and despair!’

‘Only that arrogant gaze is still annoying! I’ll shatter her pride first.’

With that thought, Jie mobilized his hybrid Steel-Water Shadow Force.

As his power surged, the gray metal on his right arm began to proliferate outward, gradually dissolving and reshaping into a three-meter-long gray greatsword.

He grabbed the newly forged blade with his left hand, canceled his flight, and landed on the frozen ground.

Dragging the greatsword, he stepped toward the girl, closing in. The face beneath his helmet had already twisted into a cruel smile.

‘If I cut off her limbs, what expression will she make?’

But just as Jie approached within five meters of Xi Yue, a sudden tremor shook the ground beneath his feet.

In the next instant, three purple energy dragons erupted from the earth, charging at him from three directions in a pincer attack.

Sensing the powerful and abundant Shadow Force within the energy dragons, Jie was startled.

‘Is she planning to go all out with this final wave?’

But then he thought, if he could break Ming’s last trump card, she would be at his mercy.

This thought filled Jie with a strange joy—the joy of soon being able to ravage this arrogant woman.

Jie swung his greatsword, and gray-blue Shadow Force quickly coated the blade. With ease, he severed the heads of the three purple dragons.

But Xi Yue would obviously not use such a straightforward attack. As the dragons were cut down, all their energy converged into their heads.

In the next instant,

“BOOM! BOOM!”

A violet sphere packed with terrifying energy exploded violently. A flash of intense purple lightning engulfed Jie before he could react.

The explosion’s range was small, but all the power was concentrated on its intended target.

Yet, the next second, a mocking voice came from within the blast: “Haha, you didn’t think such a petty trick could hurt me, did you?”

As the words fell, beams of gray-blue light burst from the purple explosion.

Jie was still clad in his gray armor, seemingly unharmed. The explosion’s energy was gradually being fully absorbed into his body.

“Thanks for the meal,” Jie said smugly, then looked toward Xi Yue’s location.

Seeing her kneeling figure, Jie could hardly suppress the urge to laugh out loud.

‘Now what can you… do?’

Hmm?

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a purple light rapidly approaching from behind.

Sensing the immense killing intent from behind, Jie quickly turned and summoned an ice wall. With a surge of gray-blue energy, a massive ice wall rose instantly, blocking Xi Yue’s attack.

‘Eh?’

‘So she left a clone and attacked from behind with her real body. How sneaky!’

‘But too slow!’

Saying this, Jie turned around and looked up at the girl he had frozen.

Her unwilling expression was immensely satisfying to Jie.

‘Haha, this is delightful!’

‘But frozen is no fun for games.’

Thinking so, Jie prepared to first absorb the last traces of Shadow Force from Xi Yue’s body, then release her from the ice and play with her slowly.

But as his power enveloped ‘Xi Yue,’ a strange sensation came from her.

‘No!’

‘This is the clone! I’ve been tricked!’

Realizing this, Jie quickly turned, ready to swing his greatsword at the original Xi Yue ‘clone.’

But it was too late.

When he turned around, Xi Yue’s violet-black longsword was already in front of his face.

No time to dodge.

“CLANG!” With a crisp sound of metal collision, a crack appeared in Jie’s helmet.

“CRACK!”

The next moment, the helmet split in two, and even the dark red crown light on his head—symbol of his lordly status—shattered.

Drops of blue blood trickled down Jie’s face.

This blow could have been fatal, but due to Xi Yue’s extreme exhaustion, it only barely broke through his defense, causing no real damage.

Yet it completely shattered Jie’s inner pride and smugness. Anger blazed anew within him.

‘Bastard!’

‘Bastard! Bastard! Bastard!’ Jie cursed Xi Yue hysterically in his mind.

Driven by rage, Jie’s whole body erupted with earth-shattering gray-blue aura. His overall power surged enormously.

He had planned to toy with his prey, but now he would get serious.

“I was going to absorb your power and keep you as a pet! Since you’re asking for death, don’t blame me! After today, there will only be eleven Abyssal Lords!”

As he spoke, Jie swung his greatsword toward the girl. The power in this strike was incomparable to any previous attack.

“Indeed, eleven is a good number,” Xi Yue murmured to herself, staring at Jie charging toward her.
