On the first day of moving into the dorm, I ended up sharing a room with Seo Jun-jae and Yeo Hyun-tae.

I had worried about how awkward and uncomfortable it would be, how I would change clothes without being embarrassed.

But those worries proved unfounded as busy days followed, barely allowing enough time to close our eyes at the dorm.

Come to think of it, even back then, I had thought it was strange that the managers didn’t stop the idol members, about to debut soon, from grilling and eating samgyeopsal until late at night.

It was only after repeating schedules of coming in at dawn and leaving at dawn for several days that I realized it was because they knew it was their last taste of freedom.

“Ugh.”

Park Seo-hu, standing at the front holding the door handle of the dance practice room, suddenly pretended to gag and hesitated.

An arm reaching out from behind pushed the door open.

“Why aren’t you going in?”

Receiving resentful looks from both Park Seo-hu and Lee Woo-rim simultaneously, Lee Chan-seo looked back and forth between them as if he didn’t understand, then soon went inside first.

“Still, you’re better off than me.

NUAVE’s debut album contains a total of six songs.

Except for track 3, the ballad ‘Nap’, all the songs have choreography.

And at the debut showcase on August 14th, we were scheduled to perform all of them.

Even though the song and choreography were extremely familiar to everyone, the new blocking according to the newly assigned parts seemed to cause confusion, and quite a few mistakes occurred.

“Ah, Jinwoong ssam, isn’t that too harsh?”

As Woo-rim, crossing the practice room along his blocking during the busiest chorus part, let out a cry, a voice came from behind: “What did I do?”

Turning his head towards the voice, he saw Kwak Jinwoong standing at the practice room door.

Kwak Jinwoong, accepting our greeting while shaking a bag full of canned drinks, walked into the practice room.

He placed the bag down in front of us, noticed Chae Han-ul’s absence, and pulled out a can marked ‘Iced Tea’, saying, “Grab the rest yourselves.”

Woo-rim, who had been grumbling about Jinwoong just moments ago, now greeted him with the brightest smile.

“But teacher, isn’t my blocking a bit too tough?”

Deciding to wet his throat before starting practice in earnest, I opened the lid of my coffee can.

Woo-rim, pulling out the last coffee from the bag, said to me, “Jae-seo hyung, want a straw?”

I couldn’t answer because I was already drinking straight from the can.

But the answer came from three people at once on my behalf.

“Jae-seo doesn’t use a straw.”

“Jae-seo doesn’t use straws, so you don’t need to give him one.”

“Jae-seo hyung drinks without a straw!”

The practice room fell silent for a moment.

I see, nodding, as Lee Chan-seo walked away, I saw Kwak Jun-sung making a fed-up face.

“Ah, if I drink without a straw, I spill it on my clothes 100% of the time.”

Fortunately, the others, except for me and Jun-sung, didn’t seem to find the three particularly strange, and soon continued with their own conversations.

“Han-ul, don’t worry about Jae-seo, just go change your clothes quickly and come out.”

Chae Han-ul, who had been looking back and forth between Jun-jae and Hyun-tae with a bewildered gaze, said okay at Jinwoong’s words and started to leave, but then turned back to look at us again.

The moment I saw the anxiety clearly filling Han-ul’s face as he kept looking back,

A deep sigh escaped me.

“Seo-hu, you’re too slow.

Jun-sung, your beat is fast.”

Kwak Jinwoong, who had been watching us and giving various advice, cut off the chorus of ‘White Night’, the 4th track of NUAVE’s debut album.

At the same time, Park Seo-hu and Lee Woo-rim collapsed onto the floor.

“Tea, teacher.

Huh, I can’t do it.”

At least Woo-rim could still speak; Seo-hu seemed unable to even talk, just breathing roughly.

Though those two had it worst, everyone else was struggling too.

“How are we supposed to do, huff, live singing with this….”

When Woo-rim whined, Jinwoong shook his head firmly.

“There are kids here who did ‘Time Killer’ live.

Everyone can do it.”

His words immediately denied, Woo-rim sighed, covered his face with his hands, and muttered quietly in a dissatisfied voice.

“No, huff, why of all songs did ‘White Night’ have to be the pre-release….”

The reason we were practicing ‘White Night’, boasting the most brutal choreography among the B-sides, first, instead of the title track ‘Awake’ with its relatively much easier choreography, was because ‘White Night’ was the pre-release track.

Team Leader Kim Shin-mi had explained that a pre-release track, released for promotional purposes before the album drops, is sometimes accompanied by a music video for greater promotional effect.

And she had added that we would be producing a music video for our pre-release track for the same reason.

“No time to rest.

We have to film the MV!”

The pre-release track ‘White Night’ is scheduled to come out two weeks before the debut album is released.

Moreover, we also had to consider the time needed for editing the music video.

In other words, we were on a very tight schedule, with only a few days left until the ‘White Night’ music video shoot.

We needed to at least perfect the choreography for the parts scheduled to be filmed by then.
