Aibrune’s entire demeanor instantly soured upon hearing her words.
He hastily pressed down on Tina’s hand, absolutely refusing to let her draw her lightsaber.
Precisely because Tina was a girl devoid of emotions, she could always utter astounding remarks with a calm expression, frequently throwing Aibrune into a panic.
He knew too well—she wasn’t just idly talking; she would genuinely follow through.
“Calm down! I am not your enemy. I’ll take you back to a safe place right now.”
“Tina’s former instructor said that all Bloodkin are enemies.”
“Therefore, until a recall directive is issued, this command will remain in effect indefinitely.”
“Tina will never consider Bloodkin allies.”
“Speaking of which, you always seem to have ‘instructor’ on your lips…” Aibrune muttered to himself, “Why do you listen to what that guy says, but not me?”
Tina’s gaze suddenly sharpened, and she practically blurted out:
“Because, Tina is his woman.”
‘Huh!? Why could she say that so candidly, even with a hint of pride?’
‘What kind of person was her instructor, to make this humanoid weapon-like girl so utterly devoted?’
‘This is truly… enviable.’
“No, no, no, your instructor must have been joking, or perhaps he meant you were partners or something…”
“Tina understands that it was merely a statement without substantive meaning, but every word her instructor spoke, Tina must engrave in her memory.”
Her voice remained calm, yet faintly revealed a certain stubbornness.
“After her instructor went to the battlefield, he never returned.”
“Tina can only… remember him in her own way, forever.”
‘So that’s it, the instructor she constantly referred to now was her former instructor…’
The atmosphere suddenly fell silent, permeated by a subtle sadness; since he was her former instructor, it likely meant that guy had already fallen in battle.
Even the seemingly cold-as-iron Tina harbored such memories in her heart.
Soon after, they arrived at the entrance of the Research Society.
As a Bloodkin, Aibrune couldn’t enter the building, so he gently placed Tina by the door.
“I can only take you this far.”
“Once the imaginary space dissipates, someone should quickly find you and take you back for repairs.”
He set her down with a hint of reluctance.
Tina’s body had a temperature, even a warmth—though Aibrune knew inwardly it was merely heat generated by mechanical operations, it wasn’t entirely wrong to call it “body temperature.”
Apart from that, there was no substantial physical contact or communication between the two.
After all, Tina constantly yearned to run him through with a lightsaber or blow his head off with a bullet, and Aibrune wasn’t actually trying to take advantage of a humanoid weapon girl.
It was all simply because Aibrune had already met Tina two years prior.
“Well then, I’ll take my leave.”
“Oh, and remember to have the maintenance staff get you a new set of clothes.”
Although Tina, in her somewhat tattered clothes, possessed a distinct, cold allure, it was ultimately still heartbreaking to see.
“I look forward to our… next meeting.”
Having said that, Aibrune gracefully bent into a bow, finally displaying the demeanor befitting a noble vampire.
He then spread his wings and flew into the air, just about to turn and silently depart—
“Bang!”
Without warning, a stun bullet directly hit him.
Aibrune plummeted from the sky with a crash, landing in the small grove below.
“Captain!”
“Captain!”
Several squad members rushed over upon seeing this, only to find their captain lying on the ground, bleeding from his nose, giving a thumbs-up, and praising with a smile:
“A dangerous yet adorable, and not-so-frank loli… simply wonderful…”
The three squad members exchanged glances, their emotions complex, unsure how to react.
In the end, they all covered their faces and sighed.
“Sigh, how embarrassing, utterly embarrassing.”
“It seems our Captain, this loli-con, is completely… beyond saving.”
