Sitting on the steps, Tina slowly put away her pistol, her head lowered.
A faint wisp of gunpowder smoke still curled from the muzzle as she gazed at the vanishing mist, murmuring to herself:
“Target hit… unfortunately not a Extermination Bullet, so not fatal.”
“But—”
She suddenly lifted her face, a flicker of confusion in her eyes.
The signals from her central processor were chaotic, as if stirred by some unseen force.
She didn’t understand.
The other party was clearly Bloodkin, yet displayed no hostility whatsoever, even safely returning her to the Research Society.
“Why… I cannot comprehend…”
Tina’s voice was almost inaudible.
“The actions of both humans and Bloodkin far exceed my understanding… more data, more analysis is required…”
But she clenched her palm.
An enemy is an enemy—this belief would never waver.
It was these so-called “Bloodkin” who had put her vice-instructor in danger.
Now was not the time for hesitation.
She was about to activate her communication system to call for help from headquarters when she suddenly froze.
The human imaginary space was gradually lifting its restrictions; after two hours and twenty minutes, the spatial blockade was officially disengaged.
The imaginary space would only close under two circumstances: either all humans were annihilated, or all enemies were annihilated.
Meanwhile, news had already spread throughout the Exterminator forces.
The Exterminators rescued by Su Mu Zhe recounted the story of a powerful individual, with at least S-rank combat capability, suddenly appearing in the city.
Subsequently, good news arrived from the front lines—Staff Officer Julius of the enemy forces had been slain.
Morale instantly soared.
The Bloodkin Rose Legion suffered heavy losses, and after their leader was cut down, they could no longer organize an effective counterattack.
Humans launched a full-scale offensive, and in a blink of an eye, the tide of battle reversed, and the Bloodkin were completely eradicated.
The imaginary space successfully closed.
Su Mu Zhe gazed upwards silently, a whirlwind of complex emotions in his eyes.
However, as long as the outcome was good.
As long as Tantan City was safe, and his sister was safe, whatever the cost, it was as light as a wisp of smoke to him.
In the battle against Sheffield, he completely lost the power of the Sacred Forbidden, but he also successfully reclaimed all the Exterminator power from Sheffield’s body.
This even included the power of the SS-rank Orderly Exterminator, “Phantom.”
But Su Mu Zhe couldn’t wield it for his own use like Sheffield, so he raised his hand to the sky, condensing that power into a blazing flame.
The next moment, a brilliant blue light shot skyward, piercing through the clouds.
Humanity’s Orderly Barrier was restored, and the central city was once again enveloped in peace.
And this night’s deadly battle within the imaginary space would forever remain unknown to the real world.
To the Exterminator forces, it was a brutal war; to ordinary people, it was just another peaceful day, or perhaps… another major factory explosion reported in the news.
This battle had finally truly ended.
The Battle for Tantan City concluded with a human victory.
The surviving Exterminators helped each other to their feet, and without prior arrangement, all looked towards the blue beam of light that cut across the night sky—like fireworks celebrating victory, a relieved smile appeared on every weary face.
“Xiao Zi… I hope she wasn’t injured.”
“I never expected her to get caught up in this.”
Although Su Mu Zhe had basically chosen to trust Evran, she was a Bloodkin.
As an Exterminator, his bottom-line vigilance made him very much want to personally return immediately.
However, when he flew back to the top of the tall building, he was instantly stunned by the scene before him, and the corner of his mouth couldn’t help but twitch violently.
“Hey… what, what’s going on here?”
