5:50 a.m.
The early-autumn sky was already turning bright.
Su Xiaoxiao emerged from the steamy bathroom with a towel draped over her head. The house was still quiet—Su Xiao Zi was probably still asleep. She always woke up exactly at six.
In the past, she used to set ten consecutive alarms out of fear of being late, but now that Tina the humanoid weapon slept in the same room, that worry was gone.
Yep. A while ago, Su Xiao Zi had brought Tina home to live with them. Maybe… partly to keep an eye on the vampire Evran.
A sudden gust of cold morning air swept in. Wearing only panties and a top, Su Xiaoxiao shivered all over, hurriedly shut the living-room windows, and scampered back to the bedroom.
One thing at a time. Clothes, too, had to be put on step by step.
She looked at the pile of clothes spread across the bed, picked up the pure-white bra, compared it to her body, let out a sigh of regret, and set it back down.
Her sister’s old junior-high training bra was nowhere to be found, and the current size was way too big—she couldn’t fill it at all. Even though Xiao Zi had thoughtfully prepared padding, Su Xiaoxiao knew it was hopeless.
No point.
So—no bra today! It’s pretty flat anyway; her delicate, petite frame wouldn’t show anything.
Sitting on the bed, she lifted one snowy leg high, slipped on the white stocking, and snapped the band into place. The silky fabric hugged her slender legs snugly.
The other leg only had a black stocking. Not sure if it was Xiao Zi’s personal taste, but there wasn’t a matching pair. After hesitating, Su Xiaoxiao put it on anyway.
One black, one white. Black stockings symbolized seductive allure, white ones pure cuteness—two extreme contrasts. Yet when worn together, they somehow harmonized perfectly, like she could pull it off.
The feeling of her legs being wrapped gave her a strange sense of security. She adapted quickly.
Having bathed and dressed all by herself before six o’clock, and with Xiao Zi still needing time to make breakfast, Su Xiaoxiao figured she could sneak in a little more sleep.
Yesterday she’d finished everything she needed to do, and she’d finally come to terms with being a girl. As long as… nobody… did anything… weird to her… it was fine… zzz…
Zzz~
The room was quiet, just Su Xiaoxiao alone, curled up under the blanket, hugging her pillow.
But then—a black shadow flashed across the room.
Something seemed to be admiring her adorable sleeping face. It quietly approached the bed.
The little black bat dissolved with soft pattering sounds. Evran returned to her usual pale-pink dress form, slipping back without a sound.
“You even washed yourself clean and waited for me~ Such a good, cute girl.”
Evran covered her mouth and giggled softly.
“Nngh…” Su Xiaoxiao, deep in sleep, frowned slightly and made a reluctant noise.
Suddenly, she felt arms wrap around her. A soft, fragrant warmth pressed against her side. The intimate contact gradually pulled her out of her drowsy haze.
“Huh? Who—who’s hugging me… wait, Evran!?”
The moment she opened her eyes and saw Evran grinning mischievously, their faces inches apart, Su Xiaoxiao launched herself upright like a rocket, kicking the blanket flying.
“Waaah! You scared me!”
Evran’s voice rang out right after.
Su Xiaoxiao, now wide awake, stood at the edge of the bed, big eyes blinking in shock. “You’re the one who scared me!! I told you not to suddenly get so close every time!”
“I just wanted to be closer to you~ It’s been so long—are you still that guarded around me?”
Evran walked to the head of the bed, sat down beside her, and gazed at the tiny girl with doting eyes.
Su Xiaoxiao shook her head furiously, hurriedly wrapping herself in the blanket layer after layer until she resembled a giant fuzzy caterpillar, staring warily at Evran.
Evran put on an innocent, dejected expression, voice tiny and pitiful: “I finally came home, and Xiao Xiao doesn’t welcome me at all… acting like you want to chase me away… boo hoo, so mean…”
She even started wiping away nonexistent tears, eyes already glistening.
Su Xiaoxiao froze, then gave an awkward laugh—she’d seen through this trick ages ago. “Trying to play the pitiful card again? That doesn’t work on me anymore! Idiot!”
“Ugh… how could you… Instead of comforting a crying girl, you hurt her even more… boo hoo…”
But then, unexpectedly, a real tear slid down Evran’s cheek. Su Xiaoxiao stared, dumbfounded.
Oscar-level acting!? Wait—the crying sounds actually seem kinda real… not totally fake… Can she really fake it this well?
Hesitantly, she asked, “Are… are you actually crying?”
“Yes… boo hoo—” Evran wiped her eyes, inching closer. “C-Can I come under the blanket too? It’s so cold out here…”
Pfft—hehe… I can’t take this.
Su Xiaoxiao immediately kicked out— But her short little legs missed completely. She spun in midair, lost balance, and—
“Whoa, wait—!”
Thump. She crashed straight onto the floor.
