Chapter 52 –> Revision

This text contains content from a previous version before the novel’s direction was revised.

After careful consideration, I decided to leave the past errors public for reflection, rather than covering them up.

If you’re binge-reading, I would appreciate it if you skipped this chapter.

Time passed.

The world went on, oblivious to what had happened,
and my life went back to normal, as if nothing had happened.

The only difference was that the constant stream of misfortunes was now being resolved one by one, and stability was being regained.

What kind of things had I experienced since becoming a woman?

Not only did I become a woman, but my broadcast was also suspended.

Having never been a woman before, I carelessly committed embarrassing acts.

I cried, not knowing what to do as my female self spread on the internet.

I let go of someone I loved, someone I could no longer love.

I almost lost all the money I had saved because of a sudden change in government policy.

There were times when I had to do embarrassing things I didn’t want to do because of money.

All of these things were my misfortunes and bad luck.

But

That’s what ordinary life is like.

Doesn’t everyone live their lives experiencing their own misfortunes and bad luck?

Whether they are streamers or novelists,
office workers or students.

Everyone has their own difficulties, and everyone has their own sorrows.

So there’s nothing to envy or comfort.

I just have to get through my share of life.

And if I get through it one by one,

Someday, when I stop and look back,
To the two or three friends who are still by my side,

I’ll say, “I’ve come this far,”

And share a drink with them over some snacks.

Wouldn’t that be a pretty happy life?

“Cheers…!”

“The one who can’t handle alcohol is the most excited, as always.”

Haha.

What am I thinking so seriously about?

I must be drunk.

I’m just trying to be sentimental and pretend to be plausible.

“That’s a bit of a shame, though.”

“What is?”

“You were originally going to sue for business obstruction, right?”

“Ah… that?”

I took a sip of beer and recalled what the lawyer had told me.

“There are so many things about Korean law that I don’t understand. It’s not even considered spreading false information….”

According to what I heard from the lawyer when I consulted with him about the Shung case, it’s difficult to charge her with spreading false information in this case.

The reason is that in order for spreading false information to be established, one must spread ‘false information’.

“In order for spreading false information to be established, you have to spread false information? What the f*ck does that mean?”

“I think it’s something like you have to spread it as a ‘fact’.”

I’m not very knowledgeable about law, so I couldn’t fully understand the lawyer’s words, but the gist of it was this.

In the case of the Shung public shaming, it’s difficult to see it as spreading false information because the public shaming raised ‘suspicions’ about the ‘possibility’ that ‘it seems like she might have fake breasts’.

In order for it to be considered spreading false information, I would have had to go around saying things like, ‘I heard that a person named Hiro wears fake breasts and broadcasts’.

“I thought it would definitely work… I get a little dizzy when I think that if I had messed up, I could have been hit with a backlash.”

“The situation was more dangerous than I thought?”

“If they had countersued, I might have been saddled with it?”

It’s such an absurd world.

The person who incited the public to bury someone cannot be sued for spreading false information, but the person who revealed the truth about school violence and tried to relieve the victim’s resentment can be sued for defamation by stating the truth.

I wondered what kind of law it was for and what it was supposed to protect.

“Still… thanks to the victims on their side all banding together to respond, it seems like they can’t pay attention to this side because they’re so busy worrying about that side.”

The damage I suffered from Shung was in an ambiguous area that was difficult to prove, but the victims of school violence had a lot of witnesses and evidence.
So the lawsuit is proceeding smoothly, or something like that….

I don’t know the details because it’s not my area, but anyway, it seems like they’re doing a good job of teaching them a lesson.

“Huh?”

I must have been lost in thought again.

Before I knew it, Bo-yeon came to my side and held out a can of beer.

“Cheers!”

“Huh? Oh, yeah, cheers~”

Bo-yeon’s face was red and she was staggering, but she was amazing at making toasts.

A clear ringing sound spread throughout the room.

“Boss.”

“Why are you like this today?”

Rarely,
Bo-yeon said with a bright smile.

“School bullies. They need to be taught a lesson.”

“…Ah.”

At that, I could guess Bo-yeon’s feelings a little.

Come to think of it, both Shung and Bo-yeon were at an age where they still had memories of high school.

It’s a time when you can still be attached to your school days.

“….”

Wait a minute.

What were my high school days like?

I didn’t really get bullied or anything.

But if you asked me if I had any good memories….

“…What did I do in high school?”

Come to think of it, that’s right.

Just studying was all I remembered from my high school days.

If I had achieved something by doing that, it would have had some meaning.

But in the end, I just entered a mediocre university with a slightly better score than others…

I felt like it was a time when I didn’t leave anything behind.

“Hey, what did you do in high school?”

“Me? I studied.”

“Then it’s the same as me… this b*stard went to a prestigious university, damn it.”

When I looked at him with a jealous expression, Cha-in gave a bitter smile.

“Going to a prestigious university is all useless… in the end, no one will recognize you if you don’t have the skills.”

“….”

“….”

“…….”

The three of us, including me, glared at Cha-in.

Cha-in, seeing our gazes, shrunk as if he didn’t know why.

“What, why, what? What is it??”

“You fcking btch, you’re saying you went to a prestigious university….”

“If you come from a no-name university, you don’t even get a chance to prove your skills, you know?”

“…I wanted to go to college.”

Cha-in’s words may have been true, but it was too much of an outrage to say it among this group.

Anyway, those who have followed the elite route are all unlucky.

“Hey.”

Cha-in walked over to Hiro, who was outside getting some fresh air.

It would have been a good atmosphere for the two of them to smoke a cigarette, but unfortunately or fortunately, neither of them had ever put a cigarette in their mouths.

“Did you come out for some fresh air too?”

“The two of them inside seem to be getting along well, so I just left them alone and came out.”

“Are they fighting again?”

Now that the two of them bickering had become a daily occurrence, Hiro smiled a little and dismissed his interest.

“Su-yeong.”

“Don’t call me by my name, I’ll kill you.”

“No, you fcking btch, I just called you by your name and you’re freaking out.”

“Okay, what is it?”

He cursed, but he wasn’t really serious, so Cha-in quickly changed his mood and spoke.

“I’m still jealous of you.”

Hiro chuckled as he looked at Cha-in, who was repeating what he had already said.

“This b*stard hasn’t come to his senses yet.”

“Don’t you know that the dream of office workers has changed from quitting and opening a chicken restaurant to succeeding on YouTube?”

“Our dream is to get paid regularly just for doing what we’re told.”

Hiro and Cha-in smiled aimlessly at each other.

“Hey.”

“What.”

“Did you get permission for that?”

“That? …Ah, that? YouTube?”

Hiro didn’t say anything specifically and just nodded once.

“They said no.”

“As expected?”

“To be exact, you can do it if you get permission according to the regulations… but they won’t give you permission.”

“You should have been better on a regular basis.”

“I’m good at my job, you bstard? ……I did give my boss some sht, though.”

“That’s why you should be better on a regular basis.”

Rarely, Cha-in didn’t refute Hiro’s words.

Instead, he asked something else.

“Did the YouTube thing get sorted out okay?”

Hiro glared at Cha-in with squinting eyes.

“Would it be? I barely got over 1 million views and over 50,000 subscribers, but the channel is completely dead, you b*stard.”

“…Sorry.”

“Oh well… what can I do, it’s already in the past.”

Hiro replied with a voice mixed with annoyance and resignation.

Still,
He didn’t seem to be blaming Cha-in that much.

“What are you going to do in the future?”

“First of all, it seems like the algorithm has completely caught me as a dancing person, so I have to push in that direction.”

“Your dancing is improving day by day, what are your thoughts?”

“You fcking btch.”

Hiro spat out a cool curse and walked back to his apartment with Cha-in.

“I’m thinking of buying a pole.”

“A pole? What kind of pole?”

“You know, that pole that’s used for pole dancing that’s fixed to the ceiling and floor.”

“Are you going to do that??”

While talking about small things on the way back,

“Let’s go to the convenience store and buy something to take in.”

“Did you run out of snacks?”

“More for a hangover than for snacks.”

On the way home with a bag in each hand,

“Cha-in.”

Hiro said to Cha-in.

“Let’s not do that again in the future.”

“…Sorry, man.”

“You don’t look like you’re sorry at all, no matter how I look at it.”

From the end of the public shaming incident to the present, when the outline of the result is emerging,
There have been quite a few things between Hiro and Cha-in.

But now it’s all in the past.

In the process of arguing and colliding, the two became more open with each other and understood each other better, so wouldn’t that be a blessing in disguise?

“I’m home.”

“I bought ice cream.”

“Why are you always like that to me?!”

“Because… it’s fun?”

“You little rascal…!!”

“Are they fighting again?”

“Leave them alone, it’s fun.”

It seemed like the other side was going to walk a similar path.
