Join the ServerThe sound of slippers stepping on the floor was very light. Liu Qiu walked behind Duan Li, looking down at her own feet in fluffy slippers.
The temperature inside the villa was perfectly comfortable, neither cold nor hot, so even wearing slippers like this didn’t feel warm.
Liu Qiu raised her head and looked at Duan Li’s back. Duan Li’s long hair had completely dried, draped behind her. Her back looked slender, her temperament outstanding.
The plain light-cyan nightgown looked like a formal dress when worn by Duan Li.
The air was quiet. Liu Qiu couldn’t help calling out, “Miss Duan.”
Duan Li’s magnetic voice came from the front, light like a swaying skirt hem. “Mm, what’s wrong?”
Liu Qiu clenched her fingers. Duan Li’s personality switch had no warning at all; she didn’t know when Duan Li would switch into the other personality.
She had to walk faster and release Fu Jinyin earlier.
“Can we… can we go a little faster?” Liu Qiu’s voice was very soft, but the corridor was too empty, so even the slightest sound echoed clearly.
Duan Li stopped, slightly turned sideways, and stretched out her hand toward Liu Qiu. She said softly, “Hold my hand.”
Liu Qiu pressed her lips together, stared at Duan Li’s eyes, and placed her hand in hers.
She could tell—this was the good Duan Li. The personality hadn’t switched yet.
“Liu Qiu, let’s go. I promised you I’d let her go.” Duan Li always spoke steadily, with a tone that made people feel at ease.
Liu Qiu hummed in response and didn’t say anything else.
After passing through the corridor, Duan Li led Liu Qiu to a room at the end.
Duan Li placed her hand on the door lock.
“Click.”
The lock opened, revealing a pitch-black crack.
Liu Qiu pulled her hand away from Duan Li and pushed the door open.
“Jinyin, are you here?” The room was very dark. Only the corridor light shone in, illuminating a small part of the room.
Liu Qiu vaguely saw a figure at the innermost part of the room.
Clenching her fingers, she walked quickly over, calling softly, “Jinyin, I came to find you.”
Suddenly, the room was flooded with bright light, completely driving away the darkness.
Liu Qiu blinked from the sudden brightness. When she recovered, she quickly looked toward the corner.
It really was Fu Jinyin!
Fu Jinyin’s thin body was curled up, just like every time Liu Qiu saw her by the door, trembling slightly.
Liu Qiu walked closer and squatted down, reaching out to touch Fu Jinyin like usual. Her voice softened. “Jinyin, I’m here.”
Duan Li stood not far away, watching them.
“Get lost—”
The voice was hoarse to the extreme.
Duan Li blinked lightly and silently stood behind Liu Qiu.
Liu Qiu froze for a moment, slightly opening her mouth. “Jinyin, I’m here. I came to let you leave.”
Fu Jinyin clenched her fists tightly, raised her head, and stared at Liu Qiu. Her light-colored eyes were full of disgust.
“I told you to get lost!”
“Disgusting person. Liu Qiu, I told you to get lost!”
Fu Jinyin had seen the red marks on Liu Qiu’s neck—so obvious, so eye-catching, like someone had branded her. She no longer belonged to her.
Liu Qiu pressed her lips together but didn’t get angry. Slowly, she untied the rope binding Fu Jinyin’s wrists and changed the topic.
“Jinyin, why did you come here?”
Fu Jinyin bit her lip. The scabbed wound split open again, and blood slowly seeped out.
She suddenly grabbed Liu Qiu’s hands tightly, speaking word by word.
“Liar.”
Fu Jinyin’s strength was too great. Liu Qiu’s cheeks began to redden slightly. The place on her wrist that Fu Jinyin had squeezed hard last time still hurt.
Now it was being gripped again.
“J-Jinyin, let go of me first. I’ll untie the ropes on the rest of you.”
Fu Jinyin’s eyes were red, tears pouring out one after another.
“Liar.”
Liu Qiu frowned painfully. “Jinyin, I—”
Fu Jinyin said hoarsely, “I hate you.”
“Liu Qiu, I hate you.”
Fu Jinyin suddenly shoved Liu Qiu away and buried her face between her knees again, like a hedgehog raising its spikes.
Liu Qiu almost fell, but Duan Li seemed to support her from behind just in time.
“Liu Qiu, let’s go first.”
“She doesn’t seem very emotionally stable.” Duan Li’s gentle voice came from behind.
Liu Qiu didn’t speak and continued untying the rest of the ropes on Fu Jinyin.
When all the ropes were removed, Liu Qiu gently touched Fu Jinyin’s head.
“Jinyin, go back.”
“Didn’t we agree on it?”
Fu Jinyin trembled violently.
Liu Qiu’s voice was gentle. Her movements were gentle.
But Fu Jinyin couldn’t feel happy.
It hurt so much. A dense sour feeling surged into her eyes.
She had never felt like this before.
Liu Qiu had brought this feeling to her—and it was the one thing she didn’t want.
“Liu Qiu…”
Fu Jinyin hugged herself tighter.
Duan Li grabbed Liu Qiu’s arm and pulled her up.
Liu Qiu was worried about Fu Jinyin’s state. Just as she was thinking about something, she suddenly realized something and turned to Duan Li.
“Was it… the surveillance cameras?”
It was the only explanation she could think of.
When she and Duan Li were intimate, the cameras recorded it and let Fu Jinyin see it.
That’s why the “cuckold value” had been increasing continuously.
The mission progress had increased a lot, even close to the maximum.
Liu Qiu felt like she should be happy.
But she wasn’t.
She felt like she had done something very excessive.
Duan Li didn’t deny it and nodded lightly.
“Yes. It was the surveillance.”
After speaking, Duan Li slowly stepped forward and looked down at Fu Jinyin curled into a ball.
“Your cooperation with Duan Fan is disgusting.”
“I think that as partners, loyalty to each other is the most basic thing.”
“You betrayed your wife from the beginning.”
“You shouldn’t be crying now.”
“You shouldn’t be throwing a tantrum either. Instead, you should thank Liu Qiu for being willing to let me release you.”
Duan Li’s tone remained calm throughout, with little emotional fluctuation.
Liu Qiu felt a little helpless.
She didn’t care about the cooperation at all. In fact, for her it was actually a good thing—it practically helped her complete the mission.
But everyone seemed to think she would be angry because of it.
Of course, according to the original character’s personality, she should be angry.
But in the end, she wasn’t the original owner of the body. She was someone else with a completely different personality. She didn’t even have lover-type feelings for Fu Jinyin.
Liu Qiu took a deep breath and said, “Miss Duan, thank you for thinking of me.”
“But I don’t need it. I’m not angry about the cooperation. Instead, the surveillance cameras make me angry.”
Even though saying that sounded a bit like someone who enjoys being cuckolded, she was telling the truth.
Secretly installing cameras was far worse. Liu Qiu felt Duan Li might have some unusual hobby. Normal people probably didn’t like recording their own s*x videos.
Liu Qiu never realized how easy it was to read the emotions and thoughts flowing through her clear eyes.
Duan Li raised her hand, bent her finger, and lightly pressed it against her lips.
“Then I’m very sorry.”
“I hope you can accept my apology.”
Liu Qiu glanced at Fu Jinyin on the ground and nodded.
“I forgive you.”
Even if she didn’t forgive her, what could she do? She was still counting on the good Duan Li to release Fu Jinyin first.
It was raining heavily outside and already nighttime. If possible, she hoped Duan Li could have someone send Fu Jinyin home.
Liu Qiu sighed inwardly, hoping Fu Jinyin had heard what she just said—that she wouldn’t be angry about the cooperation.
Liu Qiu bent down and leaned close to Fu Jinyin’s ear, whispering in a breathy voice:
“Jinyin, I didn’t do it with her. Wait until we get home and I’ll explain.”
Fu Jinyin suddenly raised her head. Liu Qiu almost got hit but quickly straightened up.
Liu Qiu secretly sighed in relief. Sure enough, children still had to be coaxed.
People with soft hair have soft hearts—that was something Liu Qiu heard long ago. It seemed true now.
Fu Jinyin released her bitten lip and slowly stood up against the wall.
Liu Qiu glanced at Duan Li again. Seeing no reaction, she tentatively reached out and held Fu Jinyin’s hand.
[Cuckold Value +1]
Liu Qiu paused.
Whose cuckold value was that? Duan Li’s?
When Liu Qiu extended her hand, Fu Jinyin immediately grabbed it, firmly holding the slightly smaller hand in her palm.
“Liu Qiu… I’m sorry.” Fu Jinyin’s apology brought Liu Qiu back to her senses.
“Mm… oh… it’s okay.”
Although she replied to Fu Jinyin, Liu Qiu’s gaze remained on Duan Li.
She was thinking about something: if that cuckold value just now belonged to Duan Li, did that mean whoever she married would become another protagonist?
Duan Li’s face showed no expression. Under the cold light, her features appeared even colder. Her dark eyes were deep black.
Her gorgeous features similar to Duan Fan’s were suppressed by her temperament, making people instinctively keep their distance.
“Liu Qiu.”
Fu Jinyin’s hoarse voice sounded beside her.
Liu Qiu blinked and looked toward her—
and was met with a blood-scented kiss.
Liu Qiu froze in shock.
[Cuckold Value +3]
Fu Jinyin viciously bit Liu Qiu’s lip, leaving a teeth mark, then pulled her into her arms.
Purple veins like vines appeared on Fu Jinyin’s face.
Then purple-black tentacles extended out, rushing toward Duan Li with ferocious force.
Liu Qiu was completely stunned.
How could Fu Jinyin suddenly expose the tentacles?!
The tentacles were too fast, and Duan Li was too close. Liu Qiu only saw Duan Li’s limbs and neck being wrapped tightly.
The tentacles visibly tightened.
“J-Jinyin!” Liu Qiu shouted.
Fu Jinyin’s eyes had turned completely black, without a trace of white.
Her entire aura was terrifyingly cold.
“Liu Qiu… shall we kill her?”
“I hate her so much.”
Duan Li’s cheeks flushed slightly from lack of air, but her gaze remained calm.
She opened her lips and said softly:
“Number 112… emotionally unstable.”
Liu Qiu grew anxious and grabbed the arm Fu Jinyin was holding her with.
“Jinyin! Fu Jinyin!”
It was over—she had already been able to leave.
Fu Jinyin hugged Liu Qiu tightly, breathing rapidly.
“Liu Qiu… I’m going to kill her.”
Originally she hadn’t planned to kill anyone.
She just wanted to take Liu Qiu away.
But now she felt she had to kill this person.
Otherwise she would remain angry forever.
Right now there were no other people in the room, and the device controlling her heart was in someone else’s hands.
She could kill this person and run away with Liu Qiu.
She had escaped the laboratory before—she could escape here too.
Duan Li felt the air growing thinner and slowly blinked.
“3.”
Seeing Duan Li’s condition, Liu Qiu struggled desperately.
“Fu Jinyin! Let her go!”
“2.”
Fu Jinyin’s eyes were pitch black as she stared at Duan Li.
Her expression was darker than ever.
Duan Li closed her eyes.
“1.”
“Bang—!”
A dull explosive sound suddenly rang out behind them.
Liu Qiu’s eyes widened slowly.
The arms holding her loosened.
The tentacles binding Duan Li also loosened.
“Thud…”
Liu Qiu stiffly turned her head toward Fu Jinyin.
There was a small hole blown open in Fu Jinyin’s chest.
Inside was dark.
Her heart was gone.
[…S-System.] Liu Qiu’s voice trembled.
The system scanned once and replied regretfully:
[Sorry, host. She has no vital signs.]
Fu Jinyin lay on the ground. Blood bubbled out of her chest.
All the tentacles were motionless.
Liu Qiu began trembling.
“H-How could this happen…”
It was the first time she had faced someone else’s death so directly.
Just moments ago Fu Jinyin had been crying and shouting.
Just moments ago she had hugged her.
Liu Qiu’s breathing quickened.
She suddenly grabbed Duan Li’s arm.
Her eyes turned red silently.
“Doctor.”
“Duan Li… call a doctor.”
“Call a doctor, please—”
Duan Li simply hugged Liu Qiu and said softly:
“She can’t be saved.”
Liu Qiu’s mind went blank.
Then overwhelming heartache surged up.
She burst into loud sobs.
“Call a doctor!”
“Duan Li, hurry and call a doctor—please—”
The door creaked open.
“Oh? Why does it smell so strongly of blood?”
Duan Li pressed Liu Qiu’s neck gently and looked at her tear-streaked face.
“Chaoyue. Clean her up.”
This was directed at Chaoyue.
Liu Qiu’s brain lacked oxygen. Her face was red from crying. She couldn’t hear clearly anymore.
She only knew—
just now,
Fu Jinyin had died.
