“Daoist Priest, sorry to disturb you.”
Liu Feng stood at the very front and gave Bai Qingqing a slight nod.
She wore a cyan outer robe over a crescent-white long dress.
Her figure was slender, and wherever she stood, she resembled a tall, elegant bamboo—upright and beautiful.
There was a spring-breeze gentleness between her brows that naturally inspired goodwill.
“My sister and I only wish to take back what belongs to us.”
Liu Feng’s voice was soft and unhurried.
Facing Bai Qingqing, she seemed to be addressing an old acquaintance, without the slightest hint of aggression.
Bai Qingqing sat at the edge of the bed, tearing a strip from her sleeve to wrap the wound on her palm.
Why was there someone here trying to snatch Qiuqiu from her as well?
“Qiuqiu has already left,” Bai Qingqing said slowly.
Liu Huang clicked her tongue, her tone utterly vicious.
“You stinking Daoist, stop lying. Do we really have to chop off your hand before you tell the truth?”
As she spoke, Liu Huang swept her gaze around the room.
Not seeing Liu Qiu anywhere, she tightened her grip on the sword hilt in her hand.
Bai Qingqing stood up and shrugged.
“Believe it or not.”
Though she now possessed memories of her previous life, she was still Fu Ling.
She simply preferred the name Bai Qingqing more—because Liu Qiu knew her by that name.
And only in front of Liu Qiu would she display the gentle façade she once wore in her previous life.
She began packing her belongings and said casually, “Xiao Chan, go look around. See if you can find her.”
“I’ll finish packing and search in another direction.”
Whoosh—
The sound of something slicing through the air rang out.
Bai Qingqing instantly tilted her head aside, narrowly avoiding the weapon hurled at her.
A small dagger grazed past her ear and embedded itself firmly into the wall behind her.
“Daoist Priest, how are we to trust you?”
Bai Qingqing gave a soft laugh and turned back to look at Liu Feng, who had just lowered her arm.
Her brow lifted slightly.
“I already said—believe it or not. Don’t delay me from going to find Qiuqiu.”
Liu Feng stared at her.
“Qiuqiu? Daoist Priest, you address her quite intimately. It seems my elder sister and you have only just met.”
Bai Qingqing finished tying up her small bundle, placed a lump of silver on the table, and walked toward the window.
“I told you before. That Blood Locust Wood must be destroyed as soon as possible, or all of you will die.”
Seeing that Bai Qingqing was about to leave, Liu Huang stepped forward impulsively—only to be stopped by Liu Feng’s outstretched hand.
They could only watch helplessly as Bai Qingqing leapt out through the window.
“Elder Sister, why let her go?”
Liu Feng lowered her long lashes, concealing the depth of her eyes.
“We’ll follow her.”
“Elder Sister Qiu truly wasn’t on her.”
Liu Huang was both anxious and furious.
“How do you know she wasn’t lying? What if she already did something to that sickly weakling—”
She cut herself off midway, fingers clenching tightly.
Liu Feng replied calmly, “Huang’er, do you remember the expression on that Daoist’s face when we pushed the door open?”
“Like she’d gone mad,” Liu Huang answered succinctly.
Liu Feng chuckled softly.
“She must have been preparing to do something. Something very important. But the object suddenly vanished, so her expression twisted in frustration.”
“Combined with the wound on her hand.”
“She’s a Daoist. She wouldn’t harm herself without reason. If it required human blood, then either she meant to exorcise a ghost… or to control one.”
“But clearly she failed. Since the target disappeared, the blood ended up on the bed.”
“And at present, she likely hasn’t captured Elder Sister Qiu.”
At that, Liu Feng turned to the people following behind her and said slowly, “Go after that Daoist.”
“If anything happens, report to me immediately.”
“Yes.”
The moment Liu Feng finished speaking, the few dull-eyed individuals began to move.
One after another, they swiftly vanished from the area.
Liu Huang frowned deeply.
“Sister, where did you even find these people? They’re so strange. Every single one looks like their soul’s missing.”
Liu Feng stepped forward.
“Huang’er, have you forgotten? They were the guards who escorted me back.”
There had indeed been many people accompanying Liu Feng the day she returned.
Liu Huang remembered that.
She simply hadn’t paid attention at the time—never noticing how eerie they were.
She had only asked casually and had no interest in probing further.
Right now, she only wanted to find that sickly weakling.
Once she found her, she would chop off that Daoist’s hand for daring to take what belonged to others.
Cold light flickered in Liu Huang’s eyes.
She had never claimed to be a good person.
The sun fully sank beyond the horizon.
Ink-dark hues spread across the sky.
Hidden within the mountains was a secluded cave.
Inside, a white-furred fox lay curled upon a stone bed.
On the other side lay a beautiful woman with her eyes tightly shut.
Streaks of glaring blood-red stained the fox’s fur, making her look pitiful.
Su Li’s demonic power was completely exhausted.
After escaping, she had hurriedly absorbed a great deal of essence-blood.
Regaining some strength, she once again used the same method she had employed before to recall Liu Qiu’s soul.
Now she was so weak she could barely hold herself upright.
Her eyes remained fixed on Liu Qiu.
“Human, open your eyes.”
Perhaps it was the call—Liu Qiu’s long lashes trembled faintly.
Joy burst in Su Li’s heart.
It worked!
She stared intently until those eyes opened fully.
She leaned forward and rubbed her head against Liu Qiu’s chin.
“Human—”
“Ah, the little dog can talk.”
Liu Qiu’s voice sounded sluggish.
Su Li froze.
Then she let out an indignant yelp.
“Human, are you playing with me? I’m not a dog!”
Liu Qiu reached out and lifted the dirty little fox into the air.
Her smile was soft, dimples appearing sweetly on both cheeks.
“Little dog. A talking little dog. So cute.”
Raised high, Su Li instinctively curled her tail forward to cover her belly.
She lacked the strength to struggle and could only lower her head to look at Liu Qiu, her voice weak as drifting silk.
“Human, what are you doing?”
Only then did Su Li notice—Liu Qiu’s eyes were unfocused, hazy like someone drunk.
Su Li kicked her legs slightly.
Her voice softened, low and hoarse, tinged with a coquettish tone.
“Wife-Lord, I have no strength left. Can you mate with me?”
Liu Qiu tilted her head, trying to process the meaning of those words.
But her thoughts were muddled, nothing coherent forming.
She could only reply blankly, “Okay.”
Su Li’s breath caught.
Then she opened her fox mouth and let out an angry growl.
That damned Daoist—who knew what she had done to the human’s soul to leave her like this?
Hearing Su Li’s growl, Liu Qiu hurriedly set the fox down and gently stroked her head.
“Did I hurt you? Don’t be scared. I won’t do it anymore.”
Su Li stood on all fours and looked at Liu Qiu again.
Liu Qiu’s eyes were still dreamy, her expression innocent and dazed.
Her pale lips were slightly parted, as though waiting for someone to kiss her.
Su Li’s tail swayed.
This human looked rather enticing like this.
Liu Qiu slowly sat at the edge of the stone bed, legs pressed together, hands resting on her knees.
Her hair was softly curled, her eyes wide—she looked utterly adorable.
“If I don’t touch little dog, little dog won’t hurt.”
Su Li didn’t understand the word “adorable.”
But at that moment, staring at Liu Qiu, she felt her heart grow inexplicably hot, as though it might leap out of her chest.
She wanted to mate.
The thought consumed her mind entirely.
Her heart throbbed painfully, urgently needing release.
She didn’t even notice her tail swishing rapidly behind her.
“I told you, I’m not a dog.”
“Okay,” Liu Qiu replied obediently.
Su Li leapt onto Liu Qiu’s knees.
“Okay what? Did you even hear what I said? I want to mate.”
Liu Qiu lowered her head to look at the fluffy fox on her lap.
“O-okay. M-mate with little dog.”
Su Li’s mind exploded at that.
What do you mean mate with little dog?!
Is this human’s brain broken?!
Sure enough—humans are fickle creatures.
“Idiot human. Are you drunk? You’re already talking nonsense!”
“I only drank a little. I’m not drunk,” Liu Qiu murmured.
Su Li immediately understood.
So that Daoist had indeed made her drink.
Clicking her tongue, she thought—at least she hadn’t tampered with the human’s soul.
Suddenly, Su Li bit down on Liu Qiu’s palm, drawing blood at once.
A soft, aggrieved cry sounded above her.
“That hurts.”
After absorbing a small amount of essence-blood, Su Li released her and licked over the wound she had made.
“This is your punishment. Who told you to kiss others recklessly?”
“And drink carelessly.”
As expected, Liu Qiu’s essence-blood was extremely pure.
It restored her quickly.
Strength returning, Su Li gained enough power to transform into human form.
She jumped down from Liu Qiu’s lap.
Her body grew larger, fur receding from her limbs.
In moments, she became a completely naked woman.
Liu Qiu blinked blankly at the sight.
“T-the little dog disappeared.”
Su Li narrowed her brilliant golden eyes.
Her ears and tail remained.
She slid her leg between Liu Qiu’s and bent down slightly.
“Wife-Lord, I am your wife. Remember that.”
“O-okay. Wife.”
Liu Qiu still sat obediently on the stone bed.
Only now her legs could no longer close together.
Staring into Liu Qiu’s hazy eyes, Su Li couldn’t resist lowering her head to kiss her eyelids.
“Stop tempting me.”
Although she dearly wanted to, this wasn’t the time.
She needed to move the human elsewhere.
That Daoist—and those two sisters—could show up at any moment.
Su Li blew a breath toward Liu Qiu’s face.
The demonic energy within it invaded her mind instantly.
Liu Qiu suddenly snapped back to clarity.
The blurry scene before her gradually sharpened.
A blush rose on her pale face.
She turned her head aside and muttered softly, “Su Li… w-why aren’t you wearing clothes?”
Su Li’s lips curved upward, fox eyes bending seductively.
She wrapped Liu Qiu in her arms.
“Because Wife-Lord wanted to mate with me.”
Feeling the warm softness brushing her cheek, Liu Qiu flushed deeper, her eyes shimmering faintly with moisture.
“Su Li, are your injuries healed?”
“No. To heal, I must absorb essence through mating.”
Liu Qiu thought—no wonder she took off her clothes.
But hadn’t she just been with Bai Qingqing?
As if sensing her doubt, Su Li released her head and gently pressed her onto the stone bed, carefully protecting the back of her skull with her hand.
She pressed her face near Liu Qiu’s heart and said pitifully, “Wife-Lord, I saved you.”
“Isn’t Xiao Li amazing?”
She still had a pair of fluffy fox ears atop her head.
The pointed tips brushed against Liu Qiu’s chin.
Liu Qiu wanted to say there was no need to act like this.
But seeing the large white tail swaying behind her, her lips parted slightly.
“Very amazing.”
The ear tips trembled excitedly, tickling her chin.
Almost unconsciously, Liu Qiu lifted her hand and pressed down on the fox ears, flattening them.
The soft, yielding sensation spread instantly from her palm throughout her body.
Liu Qiu pressed her lips together, cheeks reddening.
S-so soft.
So cute.
