The massive fox pressed down behind her, her entire back covered in a layer of soft fur that was both ticklish and scorching hot.
Liu Qiu’s tears had long since soaked her cheeks, and with her hands braced against the ground, she had no way to wipe them away with the back of her hand.
Only occasionally would the fox on top of her lower its head to lick her cheek, licking away her tears for her.
Liu Qiu truly had no strength left, her voice hoarse and broken.
“I’m not going to dote on you anymore.”
“Liar—ah—”
Su Li let out a teasing laugh.
“Wife-Lord, if you won’t dote on me, then I’ll just have to fight for it myself.”
Liu Qiu frowned, annoyed.
“Your… your tail doesn’t even have feeling. Su—mm—Su Li, don’t use your tail.”
“If you turn back into human form, we can… switch.”
By the end, her tone carried a note of negotiation.
She truly had no solution left.
No matter what she said, Su Li would twist her words and torment her even more fiercely.
Hearing Liu Qiu’s hoarse voice, Su Li’s tail swayed even harder.
The white-furred fox bit down on Liu Qiu’s shoulder.
The force wasn’t heavy, but the sensation was unmistakably clear.
Her sharp teeth felt as though they could pierce flesh at any moment, making Liu Qiu tremble all over.
In a small voice, she begged, “Su Li… stop.”
Her shoulder was released, and the fox’s voice sounded by her ear.
“Wife-Lord, my tail is also a part of my body.”
“How could it have no feeling?”
“I like it very much.”
Liu Qiu opened her misty eyes, staring at the silver-washed night around her, and began crying softly again.
[Host, are you in pain?] the system’s voice asked in her mind.
Liu Qiu shook her head, complaining intermittently.
[It’s not pain… it’s just very uncomfortable. My stomach feels numb.]
[Wuwu, System, every time that strange feeling spreads through my whole body. It’s so uncomfortable, I feel like I’m going to die.]
[System, the fox is so bad.]
Her hands suddenly went weak, and she collapsed onto the ground, cutting off the conversation.
After a dazed pause, she burst into tears.
“It’s all your fault.”
Her hoarse, tearful voice carried no intimidation at all.
Liu Qiu sounded aggrieved and pitiful.
“Liar. I said it so many times.”
Su Li seemed possessed, wild and intoxicated.
Sometimes Liu Qiu even felt as though her body no longer belonged to her, but was merely a puppet controlled by Su Li.
She bit her lips—already thoroughly kissed and reddened by Su Li—her eyes swollen and red, her lips swollen too.
She looked like a peach blossom in full, dazzling bloom, her face carrying a springtime allure she herself did not recognize.
Her fingers curled tightly into the grass, shame reaching its peak.
Su Li shed her beast form and transformed back into a tall, slender human.
She reached out and scooped Liu Qiu up into her arms, lowering her head to lightly peck at the corners of Liu Qiu’s tear-streaked eyes.
“Wife-Lord, you should exercise more.”
Liu Qiu turned her head away, refusing the kiss.
This had nothing to do with exercise.
Her body simply couldn’t endure any more.
She had already been exhausted to begin with.
She had said she didn’t want to continue, but Su Li hadn’t listened.
And now she had ended up in such a miserable state.
Su Li was too bad.
Liu Qiu cried heartbrokenly, her eyes red.
Her curls were soaked, and she looked as though she had just been fished out of water.
Su Li carried her into the water and began washing her, continuously kissing her cheeks as though she couldn’t bear even a moment apart.
“Wife-Lord, don’t cry.”
Liu Qiu covered her face to stop Su Li from kissing her, so Su Li’s lips fell onto the pale back of her hand instead.
She then moved to kiss Liu Qiu’s ear.
Liu Qiu’s voice was low and soft, laced with the fatigue and petulance after pleasure.
“Don’t kiss me.”
Each word was slurred, sounding almost like coquettishness.
After finishing washing her, Su Li carried Liu Qiu back to shore.
With a pair of snow-white fox ears atop her head, she rubbed against Liu Qiu’s hand, then moved downward.
She kissed the spot she had just cleaned for Liu Qiu, glancing up at her as she did so.
Sensing Su Li’s intention, Liu Qiu hurriedly lowered her hands from her face and cupped Su Li’s head, pushing her back.
“Don’t do that. I’m really angry!”
Su Li took the opportunity to grab Liu Qiu’s hand and kiss it before placing her cheek into Liu Qiu’s palm.
She tilted her head, lifting her eyes to look up at her from below, brows furrowed, tears pooling.
“Wife-Lord, I’m sorry. Xiao Li just really wanted to recover from her injuries so she could protect you.”
“If Wife-Lord is truly angry, then use that stick to hit Xiao Li.”
“Even though I’m a demon, being hit still hurts and makes me bleed. But I did wrong. I’m willing to accept punishment.”
Her eyes were wide, her ears slightly drooping, her beautiful little face looking utterly pitiful.
Liu Qiu wasn’t as angry anymore.
[Host, this fox spirit is very bad. Don’t let her fool you.]
The system’s calm mechanical voice made Liu Qiu choke internally.
She turned her head away, refusing to look at Su Li’s pitiful expression.
How could she have forgotten?
From the first day they met, Su Li had been good at pretending to be pitiful, tricking her into thinking she was a shy, innocent little girl.
So bad.
Liu Qiu frowned in annoyance, lips pressed downward in seriousness.
She refused to speak.
Including to Bai Qingqing, who stood behind a tree not far away.
The thick tree trunk had already been clawed apart by her, her fingertips torn and bloody.
Bai Qingqing let out a silent, cold laugh.
She wanted to see how the fox would coax her.
Last time, she had slapped her, they had quarreled, and in the end divorced.
She hadn’t appeared earlier while the fox and Liu Qiu were together because she didn’t want to make Liu Qiu angry.
She had told Liu Qiu she would learn how to love properly and change her terrible temper.
Liu Qiu had no idea Bai Qingqing was watching from nearby.
Her displeasure was written plainly on her face.
Su Li narrowed her golden eyes, released Liu Qiu’s hand, and rested her chin against Liu Qiu’s knee, crying softly.
Tears dampened her lashes as she looked up at her.
“Wife-Lord, forgive me this time.”
“I didn’t mean it. Next time I’ll let Wife-Lord stay on top the whole time, alright?”
“I just like Wife-Lord so much. I’ve never felt like this before, so I couldn’t control myself. And I wanted to protect you sooner.”
“Wife-Lord, please forgive me.”
The crying carried a pleading grievance.
Liu Qiu’s heart softened.
She turned to look at Su Li and sighed.
“Alright. I’ll forgive you this once.”
Maybe Su Li really did want to recover her body.
After all, her heart had been injured, and earlier that day Bai Qingqing’s copper coins had left her covered in blood.
“But next time—”
“Mm, Wife-Lord, Xiao Li likes you so much.”
Before Liu Qiu could finish, Su Li hugged her waist.
The cold dampness of water and Su Li’s burning body temperature enveloped her completely.
Su Li rubbed against her continuously, her ears brushing her flushed skin.
Liu Qiu pressed down on her head lightly.
“Stop rubbing. It tickles.”
Su Li obediently stopped and looked up at her, lips curling into a shy smile.
“Wife-Lord, you’re so good.”
Liu Qiu couldn’t help but smile slightly as well.
Suddenly remembering something Su Li had said, she extended her finger toward her.
“Su Li, didn’t you say you needed to drink human blood?”
“You can drink mine.”
Su Li looked at the slender fingertip before her, parted her lips, and gently bit it before releasing it.
“If Wife-Lord and I cultivate together again, I won’t need to drink human blood.”
Liu Qiu’s lashes trembled.
She pushed Su Li away, bent her knees, and placed her feet against the shore.
She lowered her head to look.
Then said hoarsely, “No more. It’s already like this.”
Su Li ground her teeth.
This human—how exactly did she grow up like this?
So skilled at tempting others.
She had only just managed to suppress her desire.
Staring at the sight before her, Su Li swallowed shamefully.
A deep fire of desire flashed through her golden eyes but vanished in an instant, replaced by heartache.
Looking at Liu Qiu, she began crying softly, wiping her tears with her hand.
“I’m sorry, Wife-Lord. I didn’t even notice.”
“Does it hurt?”
“No wonder Wife-Lord was angry.”
It looked utterly sincere.
Liu Qiu pressed her lips together and comforted her instead.
“Su Li, just don’t go on so long next time.”
“It doesn’t hurt. It just feels a little burning and swollen.”
She closed her legs and slipped back into the water.
“Su Li, stop crying. Let’s finish washing and go ashore.”
If they kept going, dawn would break.
Su Li’s tears turned to laughter.
She hugged Liu Qiu and rubbed her cheek.
“Wife-Lord, kiss me, alright?”
“Xiao Li likes kissing Wife-Lord the most.”
Liu Qiu touched her lips.
The stinging had faded.
She nodded and kissed Su Li’s cheek.
“Alright. That’s it.”
Su Li lifted her head and cupped Liu Qiu’s face.
“Kissing only my cheek isn’t enough.”
She leaned in and kissed her lips.
This time, the kiss was gentle.
Yet it was mature, and gradually Liu Qiu’s body softened.
Liu Qiu pushed her slightly.
Su Li immediately let go.
Liu Qiu panted, face flushed.
“No more kissing.”
Su Li hummed softly, obvious disappointment appearing on her face.
“If Wife-Lord doesn’t want to, then forget it. It seems Wife-Lord is still angry at Xiao Li.”
Her ears drooped again.
Liu Qiu shook her head.
“I’m not angry. My mouth just hurts, so I don’t want to kiss.”
With that, she turned her back and quickly finished washing before climbing ashore.
“I’m not washing anymore. It’s too cold.”
Still dripping wet, she didn’t put on her clothes immediately but crouched by the shore, watching Su Li in the water.
She sneezed lightly.
Suddenly, soft warm fabric was draped over her back.
Startled, she quickly stood and turned.
But she rose too fast and stumbled, nearly falling into the water.
A warm hand caught her, preventing the embarrassment.
“Qiuqiu, I found you.”
The gentle whisper made her entire body tense.
Bai Qingqing had found her.
So the earlier Green Hat Value had indeed come from her.
She had no time to analyze why Bai Qingqing’s value could still increase after switching worlds.
She wanted to stop her.
Liu Qiu wrapped her arms tightly around Bai Qingqing’s waist and shouted hoarsely, “Su Li, run!”
Bai Qingqing enjoyed Liu Qiu’s initiative, even if it was for another demon.
She hugged her back and smiled.
“Qiuqiu, I won’t kill her.”
“I know that would make you unhappy.”
“I saw you two together, but I didn’t come out to disturb you. Didn’t I do well?”
“Qiuqiu, you haven’t hugged me in so long.”
Su Li had long known Bai Qingqing was there.
This Daoist’s cultivation was indeed profound.
She had approached without a sound, leaving no time for preparation.
Seeing Liu Qiu in the Daoist’s arms, Su Li transformed back into her beast form and leapt ashore, baring sharp fangs.
“Stinking Daoist, don’t hurt her. Let’s go somewhere else.”
Bai Qingqing sighed softly.
“How did I become the bad one?”
“Qiuqiu is my wife too. What’s wrong with wanting to be with her?”
Liu Qiu pressed her lips together.
“Fu Ling, I’ve told you many times. You’ve mistaken me for someone else. I didn’t even know you before.”
Bai Qingqing released her and gently removed her arms from around her waist.
She adjusted the clothing draped over Liu Qiu’s back, covering her completely.
“Qiuqiu, don’t catch a cold.”
It didn’t matter if she denied it.
It wouldn’t change anything.
“When I made that mistake before, if I had acted spoiled like the fox, would you have forgiven me? Then we wouldn’t have divorced, and you wouldn’t have left me.”
Liu Qiu met her gaze stubbornly.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Even as she said it, she knew exactly what Bai Qingqing meant.
But even if Bai Qingqing had acted like Su Li back then, she wouldn’t have forgiven her so easily.
These were not the same kind of matter.
Beating someone until they bled—was that something that could simply be forgiven?
Su Li couldn’t stand Liu Qiu being close to someone else and immediately cut in viciously.
“Stinking Daoist, let’s go somewhere else. Stay away from my Wife-Lord!”
Though not as strong as before, she had recovered somewhat.
Even if she couldn’t win, she could at least escape with Liu Qiu.
Bai Qingqing turned to look at her, the gentle smile on her face fading instantly.
Jealousy spread in her eyes, yet she lazily curled her lips.
“Alright.”
She wouldn’t kill the fox.
But erasing her memory so she forgot Qiuqiu—then the fox wouldn’t be able to compete anymore.
Qiuqiu would be heartbroken and return to her embrace.
She was the one who loved Qiuqiu most.
Liu Qiu immediately grabbed Bai Qingqing’s arm and called to Su Li, “Su Li, just go!”
She was truly afraid Su Li would be destroyed.
This life, Bai Qingqing was a Daoist, and with her unstable temperament, Su Li would have trouble escaping.
Bai Qingqing gently removed Liu Qiu’s hand.
“Qiuqiu, I won’t kill her. Trust me once, alright?”
Only then did Liu Qiu notice Bai Qingqing’s bloodied fingers.
Su Li’s voice rang out.
“Wife-Lord, don’t worry! I’ll live and come find you!”
It seemed the two wanted to speak alone.
Liu Qiu opened her mouth but swallowed her words.
Looking at Bai Qingqing, she said softly, “Don’t hurt her. Or I’ll hate you.”
Bai Qingqing smiled gently, though to Liu Qiu it looked like crying.
“Qiuqiu, why don’t you believe me?”
“I’m really trying to change.”
Liu Qiu fell silent, watching as Bai Qingqing and Su Li disappeared together.
The surroundings grew quiet again.
A breeze rustled the trees.
Staring at the moon’s reflection on the water, Liu Qiu sighed deeply.
“I’m sorry, Bai Qingqing.”
She hadn’t wanted it to be like this.
But she wanted to go home.
She didn’t want anyone to suffer because of her.
A drop of tears fell.
Then another.
Soon they became unstoppable.
Crouching by the shore, she wiped her tears clumsily.
“I’m sorry.”
“I never meant for you to become like this. Please don’t like me, alright?”
“I’m sorry. Please don’t like me.”
[Host, this isn’t your fault. No one could have expected Bai Qingqing to chase you into this world.]
Liu Qiu buried her face into her knees, curling into a small ball.
[System, am I a bad person?]
[Host, you’re just too kind.]
[Bai Qingqing hasn’t treated you well. Now that she’s pretending to be pitiful, you feel bad.]
The system was artificial intelligence, guided by absolute rationality.
It would not be deceived by the emotions Bai Qingqing displayed.
But it knew that humans, such complex creatures, were easily swayed by feelings.
That was why the host was hurting right now.
