Chapter 71: A Misunderstanding at the Venue

Yuli?

Fran was stunned for a moment. Seeing Yuli slowly approaching from behind the armed man, he tried his best to discreetly create a diversion.

But the armed man was clearly not patient. Seeing Fran still daring to move, he suddenly lunged, intending to seize him.

Just then, a pair of fair hands suddenly seized the man about to pounce on Fran, gripping his left shoulder. Yuli pulled hard, but the man quickly sensed the threat from behind. He rolled away, then kicked out at Yuli.

Yuli reacted swiftly, sidestepping his attack.

The man’s kick missed. He spun on the ground, sweeping a leg toward Yuli’s waist. Yuli quickly dodged again, gathered strength in her wrist, and punched him in the stomach.

The figure was knocked back several steps, bending over and clutching his stomach.

He seemed to be faltering, but quickly adjusted his stance and attacked again.

Yuli’s gaze turned sharp. She assumed a stance and engaged him in fierce combat.

“Thud!”

Another vicious roundhouse kick slammed into his chest.

He was pushed back two or three steps but quickly steadied himself.

“Bang!”

Another kick struck his abdomen, this time with much more force. The man lost his balance instantly, stumbling backward.

Seeing he couldn’t win, the man grew anxious. He tried to raise his gun, but unsteady, Yuli rushed to his side, grabbed his arm, and yanked. Sharp pain shot through his wrist, making him loosen his grip. The pistol clattered to the ground.

Yuli executed another grapple, throwing him to the ground. She pinned his neck, and pain from the earlier blows coursed through his body. Gritting his teeth, he struggled weakly.

Yuli looked down at the man on the ground, sneered, and said, “Heh, I noticed you were off just now. I’ve been watching you for a while! Sneaky movements, upright posture, footsteps that look like military training. Talk! Who are you? What were you trying to do to Fran?”

“I should be asking you who you are…” the man growled, struggling.

That voice made Yuli look up sharply, only to see a flood of armed soldiers pouring in from the hall, their guns trained on Yuli and Fran.

Both were startled, and a tense standoff ensued.

Until a bald man stepped out from the crowd. He looked at the scene, paused, then studied Yuli’s face and called out in surprise, “Miss Gustav? What are you doing here?”

“This…” Yuli frowned. She recognized the bald man. Embarrassed, she rubbed her nose, stood up, and pointed at the man on the ground. “Is… is he one of yours?”

“Is… is he?” The bald man wasn’t sure. At that, the guard beside him quickly stepped forward. “Yes, yes, I sent him just now to… check on this blonde young lady here.”

“Uh…”

For a moment, there was awkward silence. But Yuli didn’t think she had done anything wrong.

She leaned close to Fran, patted his head, and asked softly, “Did you have any contact with them? Why suddenly…”

“Check? Pointing a gun at me and telling me not to move is your idea of a check?” Fran’s eyes rolled, and tears suddenly overflowed. He lowered his head, sobbing, “I thought I was going to be violated. It was so… so scary, sob…”

Hearing the boy’s words, the silver-haired girl’s temper flared. She turned, her face cold, and said to the bald manager, “General, is this how your men check people? For no reason, don’t you think that’s too offensive?”

“Ah, this…” The bald man turned and glared at the guard. In front of Yuli, he scolded the guard, “What’s going on? Why did you search her for no reason?”

“Well… this blonde young lady just now tried to enter the VIP booth to toast for no reason. I stopped her, but she forced her way in. I found it odd, so I checked and found she wasn’t on the guest list. Suspicious, so I sent someone to investigate…”

The guard explained hastily, embarrassed. Even if he didn’t know who Yuli was, seeing his boss’s angry attitude, he knew he had messed up.

Hearing this, Yuli scratched her head apologetically and asked Fran, “Weren’t you going to the bathroom? Why did you suddenly think of toasting?”

“I…” Fran thought for a moment, then bluffed, “Sob, I was drunk. At the door, I saw everyone toasting, and in a moment of impulse, I… went to toast. And I didn’t even go in…”

“Yes, yes!” The guard quickly chimed in, “This blonde young lady was indeed drunk at the time!”

“I see.” The bald man nodded, then laughed heartily as he walked over. He waved his hand, ordering the man on the ground to be taken away, and said politely to Yuli, “Haha, Miss Gustav, a misunderstanding. My men were just following procedures. Please don’t mind.”

“I don’t mind, I’m not hurt. But my friend got scared…” Yuli turned away, displeased. Clearly, she wasn’t familiar with the bald man and didn’t want to be too polite.

‘After all, my little one was just drunk and wanted to toast. If you don’t let him in, just say so. But to drag him off for interrogation? What’s wrong with them?’

But General Gustav obviously didn’t think that way. He rubbed his chin awkwardly, thinking, “Eh? But we had an agreement with this place to book the entire venue. How… Miss Yuli, how did you end up here?”

“How should I know? When I booked, the shop didn’t say anyone had reserved the place,” Yuli replied bluntly.

The bald man nodded. He knew asking Yuli wouldn’t yield anything. Frowning, he immediately called the shopkeeper.

The waiter who ran over smiled awkwardly and said, “Well… the shop usually requires advance bookings. To accommodate your reservation, we canceled many other bookings, which was already improper. And seeing that Miss Yuli is also from the Teuton army, we thought…”

“How can that be? A full booking means full booking, even if she’s from a different branch!” General Gustav scolded with a frown. “You did this without informing us beforehand? Our guard thought tonight was only our own people!”

“Exactly!” the guard chimed in, also aggrieved. “If we hadn’t assumed the venue was only our own, how could this misunderstanding have happened?!”

“I… I’m terribly sorry, terribly sorry!” The shopkeeper quickly bowed in apology. “We’ll correct it immediately. It won’t happen next time. It’s just…”

The waiter glanced awkwardly at Yuli beside him…

What should we do now?
