“This…” Bensuo lowered his head, his expression slightly troubled.

Quidar seized the opportunity to raise the offer, extending four fingers and waving them in front of Bensuo.

Bensuo chuckled and looked up at Quidar. “Alright, since you want to get to know them, I’ll mention it to that Lord David. It still depends on their arrangements, right?”

“Sure, as long as you put your mind to it, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish, haha—”

The two raised their glasses like old friends. “Come, let’s drink!”

Fran, hiding outside, was about to continue eavesdropping when suddenly a shout rang out. “Hey, you over there! What are you doing?!”

Startled, Fran turned to look around, but realized the shout wasn’t directed at him.

Still, it gave Fran quite a scare. A guilty conscience, perhaps?

He breathed a sigh of relief and wanted to continue listening, but then noticed the voices in the booth had softened.

Sensing trouble, Fran quickly slipped away and hid nearby.

Quidar stood up cautiously, walked outside the booth, glanced around, and seeing no one, returned.

“What’s wrong? What was that shouting outside?” Bensuo asked.

Quidar shook his head. “Nothing. It doesn’t seem to be directed at us.”

“Good, good,” Bensuo sighed in relief. “We should… find another place. This spot isn’t safe.”

Quidar nodded, picked up the glass on the table, and drained it in one gulp.

Then the two left the booth and moved elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Fran, hiding outside the booth, was panting heavily. He had almost been caught! He watched helplessly as Quidar and Bensuo departed.

Close call, close call…

Even though he wasn’t discovered, the noise he made while slipping away must have alerted them. That’s why they changed locations.

Should he follow?

Fran thought it over and decided against it. They were already on guard; following them would be too dangerous.

Moreover, the place they were heading to seemed to be a heavily secured meeting room for confidential talks, with many guards at the entrance. He wouldn’t be able to eavesdrop anyway.

He had already gained a lot. For now, it was best to sort through all the information he had gathered.

Fran leaned against the wall, bracing himself with his hands, thinking about what had just happened. The more he thought, the more excited he became. Their conversation had revealed too many crucial pieces of information.

First of all… a high-ranking member of the Lorraine Party had defected? And from the intelligence department? This was very important. He needed to go see Teacher Borg.

A defection like this was the most terrifying thing for an underground resistance organization like theirs. That person knew too much…

Did he know Fran’s identity?

Fran shook his head. Now was not the time to think about that. He just needed to pass the message to Teacher Borg. As for the rest… there was nothing he could do for now. The person was in Teutonic hands.

But if he didn’t report to Teacher Borg in time, and the person was sent to Purburg, they would be completely helpless.

As for what to do, he would have to wait for Teacher Borg to consult with higher-ups.

Fran’s heart was still in his throat. He worried that the defector might already know his identity. If that information was reported to Purburg, he would have to run, and even then, he might not escape.

He ran his fingers through his hair. Well, since there was nothing to do now, he might as well go back.

When would the banquet end?

Fran retraced his steps, wandering the hall for a long time until he finally found their original seats.

Liz was sitting in her seat, savoring her coffee.

Fran sat back down, turned to Liz, and asked, “They haven’t come back yet?”

“Come back?” Liz looked up at Fran, puzzled.

“Yeah, I mean those two from earlier?” Seeing that Liz had turned the question back on him, Fran quickly changed the subject to avoid discussing his whereabouts.

“Oh, they came back. Over there on the couch.” Liz casually pointed to the couch on the right.

Fran looked over and indeed saw the two sitting on the couch drinking tea. Beside them were several officers, including the woman he had encountered earlier—Mrs. Glesk?!

Fran watched Yuli chatting with the woman, and the corner of his mouth twitched involuntarily.

Good grief, what kind of scene was this?

“That woman is from Gestalt, quite high-ranking. Like Sister Yuli, she’s one of the managers. But… together, they feel like they’re from different worlds.”

Seeing Fran’s surprised expression, Liz described it in a flat tone.

It sounded like a joke, but combined with her monotone, Fran could only laugh awkwardly.

Fran was dumbfounded. He silently thanked his luck that he hadn’t left with Mrs. Glesk earlier. Otherwise… haha… If Yuli had seen him accompanying Mrs. Glesk, the banquet might have become quite troublesome.

…Would it have been like that?

Fran lowered his head, sighed, scratched his neck, and dropped his gaze.

Was he overestimating his importance to Yuli?

Would she care that much about him?

Tsk, what was he thinking?

Impossible. She just saw him as a pet.

Even if he really ran off with someone else, she wouldn’t lose her temper in a setting like this.

Fran lowered his head, suddenly feeling a pang of sadness.

How strange. What was he thinking? Why did he care so much about her opinion? Caring hurt, not caring hurt too. Wasn’t that just a problem?

Hmm…

He looked up, gazing at Yuli’s direction. His stomach… it was a bit hungry.

He hadn’t eaten since morning; his stomach was empty. He’d attended a banquet but hadn’t had proper food.

As expected… she didn’t care, did she?

Yuli was chatting with the people around her, occasionally glancing back. The previous times, only Liz had been sitting there, but this time, Fran was also in his seat!

Her little one was sitting there with his head down, completely oblivious to the snacks she had prepared for him on the table.

Ah— This guy… such a dope!

Little idiot!

No choice. She turned to the big shots beside her and apologized. “Sorry, I have something to take care of. I’ll be right back!”

“Huh?” Lyon quickly tried to stop her. The people around her held high positions; she couldn’t just leave like that.

But the other big shots didn’t seem to mind.

Or rather, Miss Gustav’s willfulness was acceptable in their eyes, after all, her father was…

Yuli left her seat, quickly approached her beloved little one, and patted the head of the downcast figure.

“I’m back~”
