Xiamiya stood frozen in place, almost unable to believe her ears.
When she confirmed she hadn’t misheard, a surge of indescribable joy and excitement bloomed across the evil god’s lovely face.
Forgetting to fuss with Youka over those “trivial” matters, Xiamiya hastily draped a gauze over her shoulders and strode toward the gate of Snow Lotus Palace.
“We’ll talk about the rest later, Youka.”
“Yes, Master.”
Youka respectfully nodded, watching the elated Xiamiya.
At the same time,
Seizing the moment Xiamiya wasn’t looking, Youka cast a sidelong glance toward the corner of the room. Hidden in the shadows there, a pair of icy blue eyes gleamed—a Shadow Soldier lurked. When its gaze met Youka’s, it silently slipped back into the darkness.
Then,
Youka clasped her hands in front of her abdomen and gracefully followed behind Xiamiya like a loyal handmaiden, heading toward the central area of the Holy Royal Palace—Sun Crown Palace.
…
In the past,
As Sabuyel’s cursed child, Xiamiya had faced layer upon layer of obstacles every time she tried to approach the Holy Royal Palace. After all, the court maids, guards, and even the Star Cross Knights responsible for the Holy King’s safety all resented her.
In their eyes, the Holy King Superion suffered his severe, unhealable wounds precisely because of the cursed child, Xiamiya.
Thus,
When the herald brought Xiamiya to Sun Crown Palace, the soldiers and attendants there unanimously cast hostile glances at her.
However,
The evil god seemed long accustomed to it; she simply ignored them.
Having smoothly entered Sun Crown Palace and walked through the antique corridors, Xiamiya couldn’t help but feel nervous.
It had been over a year since she was sent to the Sacred Domain for training. How was Father doing? What about his wounds? Was his body recovering well? Would he still be as gentle with her as before?
Filled with these doubts, Xiamiya arrived before Superion’s bedchamber.
“Please go in on your own from here, Princess Xiamiya.”
The herald said expressionlessly.
“I understand. Thank you for leading the way.”
“Mm.”
With a terse reply, the herald strode off haughtily into the distance.
At the same time,
A soft, respectful voice echoed behind Xiamiya.
“Princess Xiamiya, are you going in to see His Majesty Superion?”
“Huh?”
Startled, Xiamiya turned toward the voice to see a black-haired maid standing nearby.
“Yes, what is it?”
“Oh, it’s like this. His Majesty said he wishes to see you alone, so we shouldn’t enter. But it’s exactly time for His Majesty’s medicine. Could you please take it in?”
So saying,
The maid presented a tray bearing a bowl of healing elixir before Xiamiya.
In response,
Xiamia smiled faintly, accepted the tray without thinking.
“In any case, Father’s health comes first. He must take his medicine on time.”
“Leave it to me.”
“Thank you, Princess Xiamiya.”
After expressing her gratitude respectfully, the maid turned her gaze toward Youka, who had silently followed behind Xiamiya and now wore a veil.
“This must be your personal maid, Princess? I’m sorry, but the Holy King ordered to see Princess Xiamiya alone. So please come with me to the annex to rest and wait.”
“…”
Faced with the black-haired maid’s gesture, Youka did not respond immediately.
Instead, she cast a questioning look at her evil god mistress.
In response,
Xiamiya replied without hesitation,
“Go ahead, Youka. I’m just going to see Father. Don’t worry about me.”
“Understood, Master.”
Without further words, Youka nodded simply.
“Then this way, please, Lady Youka.”
Soon,
Youka followed the black-haired maid’s steps and disappeared at the end of the corridor.
“Hmm?”
Though somewhat surprised that Youka had parted from her so decisively today, Xiamiya, driven by her longing to see her father, didn’t dwell on it.
As two sturdy warriors swung open the doors, Xiamiya took a deep breath and quickly stepped inside, entering her father’s bedchamber.
In moments,
The dimness gave way to brightness.
Xiamiya halted.
Before her, on the large bed at the center of the room, an old man with weathered features and snow-white hair leaned against the headboard with a gentle smile, his kind eyes fixed on the cherry-haired girl before him.
“Long time no see, Xiamiya.”
“Father…”
Hearing that familiar voice, meeting those warm, tender pale red eyes, Xiamiya’s heart swelled with myriad emotions.
For a moment,
The evil god’s thoughts drifted back six years, to the year 1005 of the New Era, the first time she had seen Superion.
Back then,
Sabuyel had been attacked by a Disaster Demon.
Young Xiamiya knelt amidst the ruins, and before her stood a terrifying monster that had pursued her for a long time.
A colossal, hideous beast shrouded in a violent black abyss, its body covered in thick scales exuding a chilling aura. It had three huge mouths, each filled with sharp fangs, as if ready to tear apart anything in sight.
The Disaster Demon’s eyes burned with endless greed. It slowly approached Xiamiya, all three mouths emitting low growls. The young Xiamiya trembled uncontrollably; her legs felt nailed to the ground, unable to move. Her eyes brimmed with fear and despair, tears welling up. Her life seemed to be at its end.
Xiamiya still vividly remembered the sense of despair she had faced then.
Just as the demon was about to strike, a dazzling deep red light suddenly descended from the sky. A massive battleaxe wreathed in holy might cleaved through the air with incredible speed, carrying unmatched power and precision. The axe arced down, bisecting the demon.
With a piercing shriek, the demon’s enormous body burst, blood and entrails scattering everywhere.
Xiamiya stared in shock and disbelief.
Trembling, the girl looked up to see a tall, imposing man descending from the heavens.
His red hair fluttered in the wind, shining armor adorned him, and he held a great battleaxe—like a divine being descending.
Then,
The man walked slowly up to Xiamiya, extended his strong hand, and said softly,
“Don’t be afraid, child. I’ve come to take you home…”
…
The man who had saved Xiamiya at that critical moment was none other than the leader of Ophelia, the Holy King—Superion. From that day on, Superion held an irreplaceable place in Xiamiya’s heart. He was the one who saved her life, gave her a new existence, and was the first person to make her feel love and warmth.
Gazing at her long-unseen, dearly missed father, Xiamiya’s colorful eyes grew moist, and her body trembled involuntarily.
“Father…”
Seeing his daughter so moved, Superion smiled tenderly and beckoned her.
“Come, little Miya. Let me have a good look at you.”
“Mm!”
