Chapter 76: A Desperate Escape

“Wuu… Eh?!”

And so,

Under the Ice Princess’s stunned gaze, Youka elegantly produced from beneath her skirt a massive hammer that gleamed with mysterious light, appearing exceptionally heavy and imposing.

The handle alone was larger than the girl herself.

Yet she pulled such a thing from under her skirt?

How was that even possible?

At that moment, the Ice Princess stood frozen in place, her mind filled with question marks.

However,

she no longer had time to worry about that. As Youka slowly raised the iron hammer, tears instinctively welled in the Ice Princess’s eyes.

“No, don’t…”

Her voice trembled, carrying a hint of plea.

But,

Youka’s silver-white eyes showed not a trace of pity.

Ignoring the fox-eared girl’s pleading gaze, the doll girl swung the hammer without hesitation. Power surged in her arm. The hammer arced through the air with unstoppable force, slamming into the Ice Princess’s head.

“Clang~~~”

With a deafening crash, Youka’s hammer struck the fox-eared girl’s head.

The Ice Princess’s skull took the full force of the impact. Shock and pain flickered in her eyes. She felt a violent dizziness, as if the whole world were spinning.

Everything blurred.

After a few seconds of feeble struggle, the Ice Princess’s body swayed. Her eyes rolled back, foam spilled from her mouth, and she lost consciousness. Her body collapsed limply onto the ground.

With the Ice Princess’s fall,

the icy magic that had shrouded the sky and earth swiftly dissipated. The rampaging ice dragons, now uncontrolled, collided midair and shattered into countless ice crystals that scattered to the ground.

For a moment,

a unique crystalline rain fell within Sun Crown Palace.

Standing under the rain of ice crystals, Youka silently stowed the heavy hammer back under her skirt and glanced at the Ice Princess, who lay on the ground in an infant-like sleep.

Then,

she unceremoniously kicked the girl over and glanced at the number engraved on her face.

“AY006, huh…”

A magical puppet.

A weapon of war made by the first Holy King.

It looked unimpressive, but its combat ability was considerable.

Had it not been limited by Helibea’s magic, it could have unleashed even greater power.

However,

strong as it was,

its flaw was obvious.

Without the contractor’s power supply, its combat ability dropped instantly, and the moment the link broke, it suffered a brief paralysis.

Not just magical puppets.

All puppets had that problem.

So for a puppeteer, the best tactic was to control the puppet from somewhere the enemy couldn’t see.

Helibea herself was a puppeteer. Didn’t she know even that?

Or maybe,

“Too confident?”

Youka’s glance slid to the distant red-haired woman, who was dragging her injured body toward the palace gates, and she spoke softly.

On the other side,

“Huff… huff…”

Holding her bleeding chest, Helibea staggered out of Sun Crown Palace.

That… that woman?!

What… what just happened?!

She defeated the Ice Princess so easily?! How was that possible?! That was a magical puppet!! Number 006! Even the High Priest Baroye would struggle to beat it! What was that woman?!

Her perfect plan had been shattered. Helibea’s mind was on the verge of collapse.

She had hoped to use the magical puppet to clear out the nearby disaster demons and take control of the capital… but now it was all for nothing!!

Along with rage, panic crept into her heart.

After all,

the look Youka had given her earlier was bone-chilling… as if her soul had been frozen solid.

“Princess Helibea!!!”

Just then, a gruff shout drew her attention.

Looking ahead, she saw hundreds of Life-Saving Army soldiers rushing toward her.

The blood on their armor and the grime on their faces made it clear they had already fought fiercely against the disaster demons.

They had clearly fought their way to Sun Crown Palace to support her.

No doubt,

the soldiers’ loyalty was touching.

But Helibea had no time to care about that now. She issued a different order.

“Stop the one behind me!!”

“Stop… stop?”

The middle-aged officer at the front was stunned. But before he could make sense of it, Helibea hurried away.

Leaving the confused soldiers standing there, dumbfounded.

“Pr… Princess?”

The soldiers exchanged glances, seeing only confusion in each other’s eyes.

“She said to stop someone? Who?”

“Right, who knows?”

They were perplexed, but fortunately, they didn’t have to dwell on it.

Because the next moment,

the silver threads woven by the goddess of fortune coiled around their bodies without their awareness.

“Crack!!!”

Silver danced, blood sprayed.

The soldiers who had been pondering moments before were instantly reduced to minced meat, scattered in pieces.

In an instant,

the air was thick with the smell of blood.

“…”

Youka, emerging from Sun Crown Palace, glanced at the dismembered bodies on the ground without reaction.

She retracted the silver threads dancing in the air, then looked coldly in the direction Helibea had fled.

As if sensing something,

a hint of contempt flickered in Youka’s silver-white eyes.

“Fool…”

On the other side,

Helibea hurriedly fled, putting on the amulet she had tricked out of Xiamiya earlier to avoid being detected by Youka or any disaster demons.

The amulet that could conceal one’s aura.

Of course,

Helibea hadn’t blindly trusted Xiamiya. After obtaining the amulet, she had it appraised by a court scholar.

The appraisal confirmed that the amulet could indeed block detection.

Though using Xiamiya’s item to escape brought a sting of humiliation, Helibea had no choice.

With the remaining holy power, Helibea eventually found a dead corner. The place was dark and damp, with mottled walls, clearly an area of the Holy Royal Palace that few ever visited.

Since no one came here, disaster demons were unlikely to notice.

Helibea panted heavily, leaning against the cold wall, feeling slightly relieved.

Then she quickly pulled several black crystals inscribed with unknown symbols from her space ring.

These were the Black Rune Stones she had obtained from Zholu, used to urgently call for aid.

She didn’t want to ask the Abyss Sin Tower for help, but now she had no other choice.

The magical puppet was defeated, the Life-Saving soldiers under her command scattered by disaster demons…

Leipzig was unreachable…

Asking those madmen at the Abyss Sin Tower for help was the only option left.

But just as she was about to use the Black Rune Stone, she felt a suffocating chill.

?!

Following the source of the chill, Helibea slowly looked up and saw a sight that made her blood run cold.

On the wall above her, an enormous head had emerged without her noticing.

It was a massive spider-shaped disaster demon, its body radiating dark abyssal power and shrouded in bloodlust.

It had eight pairs of icy eyes, each gleaming with a cold light, fixed on Helibea.

The dark abyssal power swirling around it was close to the seventh rank, pressing down on Helibea so heavily that she could barely breathe.

Instantly, the First Saintess’s heart seemed to freeze. She dared not move. Her breathing grew rapid. The spider disaster demon’s massive form loomed in the shadows, its eight pairs of eyes radiating pure malice.

But that wasn’t the worst part.

Helibea scanned the surroundings and discovered something even more despairing.

That spider was not the only disaster demon here.

It was just the first to arrive. As the amulet’s power spread, dozens more disaster demons came crawling over the walls, poking their heads out. They came in various shapes, all exuding a suffocating aura of despair. Their eyes burned with hunger and greed, fixed on Helibea.

At that moment, Helibea felt a surge of rage. She mentally cursed the scholar who had appraised the amulet a hundred times.

“The amulet can conceal aura?”

“Not be found?”

“This is a joke…”
