Chapter 71: The Confrontation

While the Holy Royal Palace was thrown into chaos by the demon attack and the arrival of the rescue army, inside the bedchamber of the Holy King in the White Fall Palace,

Superion, who had fallen into a coma due to the curse earlier, finally managed to suppress the deadly curse through sheer willpower after a struggle. He slowly regained consciousness.

‘Helibea…

You pretended to leave Truth…

Just to meet Xiamiya… is this what you were after?

To seize the Celestial Command and frame Xiamiya?!’

“Cough, cough, cough…”

Coughing up blood, Superion tremblingly raised his head.

As he lifted his gaze, the first thing that met his eyes was Helibea, who was slowly stepping into the room, holding a long sword.

Staring at this icy, unfamiliar daughter, Superion spoke with disappointment:

“So you really did it, Helibea.”

To this,

Helibea did not choose to hide it. She admitted it frankly. After all, now in the Holy King’s bedchamber, there were only the two of them, father and daughter. Helibea had no need to keep up pretenses.

“You forced me to do this, Father.”

The red-haired woman’s eyes narrowed, and a chilling coldness seeped out. Even though the man lying before her was her own father, there was not a trace of emotion in Helibea’s eyes.

“So you allied with Viscow, the Blazefrost Nation, and even the Abyss Sin Tower?! That’s like asking a wolf for help!”

“Even so, I must reclaim what is rightfully mine.”

As she spoke,

Helibea clenched her fists. A terrifying obsession poured from her eyes.

“All my life, every effort, every sacrifice, was for this position. You once promised me, didn’t you? That the throne would eventually be mine… And now, you’ve broken that promise?”

Faced with Helibea’s furious accusation, Superion shook his head in guilt:

“I am deeply sorry for not keeping my promise. But as the Holy King, I must take responsibility for all of Ophelia. And right now, you are not the right candidate.”

“I’m not? Then who is?!”

Helibea screamed hysterically:

“You chose Anna before, I could let that slide. But now that b*tch is demon dung! If I’m not the best candidate, then who is?! And in this situation, you still want to choose Xiamiya? That half-breed from Sabuyel?! She’s not even your daughter!!! I am your daughter!!!”

Enraged, Helibea suddenly raised her sword, pointing its tip at Superion’s forehead:

“Why would you choose that weak, cowardly, curse-eyed waste?! And even give her the Celestial Command?!”

“Because she is more suitable than you.”

Superion replied calmly, but firmly.

“Even if this cursed child will bring disaster? You still think so?”

Glancing at the smoke-filled palace outside the window, Helibea asked incredulously.

Following Helibea’s gaze, Superion looked out the window, his eyes filling with complex emotions.

But after shaking his head, Superion gave the same answer:

“Yes.”

“…”

Upon hearing this, Helibea fell silent. The anger and hysteria on her face visibly faded, replaced by a cold indifference, as if all attachment had vanished.

“Is that so? Indeed, Father. After being cursed, your mind is no longer clear.”

As she spoke,

Crimson flames slowly ignited from her sword, and a terrifying heat suddenly engulfed the entire room.

“Indeed, Ophelia is better left in my hands. Father, you can rest easy. But don’t worry—that half-breed you favor, I’ll send her to keep you company.”

“Stop this, Helibea. Do not continue down this wrong path. Even if you seize the throne, Viscow will control you. The Blazefrost Nation will seize the northern mines, and the Abyss Sin Tower will infiltrate our country… Even the Three Heroes will intervene.”

“Hmph, what use is there in saying this now?”

Snorting coldly, Helibea thrust her sword straight at Superion’s head.

Clearly,

The first princess had made up her mind to end it all.

However,

Just as Helibea’s blade was about to reach Superion, the seemingly dying old man suddenly raised his head and grabbed the blazing sword!

“Huh?!”

In an instant, Helibea’s brow furrowed.

Under her astonished gaze, Superion slowly stood up from the ground.

The deep red energy that should have been depleted began to overflow from his body, burning like raging fire.

His holy power, several times stronger than Helibea’s, crashed down upon the first princess like a tsunami, causing her to show a look of surprise.

“Father, you?”

“Don’t underestimate me, Helibea.”

Superion spoke in a sorrowful tone.

“Regardless, I am a Heaven-tier expert… Even after years of erosion by the curse, I haven’t become a completely helpless old man!”

At that moment, Superion’s voice carried a terrifying anger.

To prevent the situation from worsening, to stop his eldest daughter from making further mistakes, Superion made a resolute decision.

Due to the curse, his power had been constantly drained, and his body grew weaker.

But with the help of the High Priest, Superion had reserved a final burst of power within himself for emergencies.

Though after using this power, he would become like a withered old man, Superion had no other choice now.

He could not allow Helibea to continue her rampage,

Nor could he let Xiamiya suffer a tremendous blow…

In that moment,

As he released the last of his power, a red light flickered in Superion’s eyes. The once towering Heaven-tier powerhouse seemed to descend once more.

The crimson holy power,

Like a roaring lion, surged toward Helibea, completely overwhelming her aura.

The domineering red energy swept through the room, crushing everything in its path, and blazing flames erupted.

The entire Holy King’s bedchamber exploded under the impact!

A crimson inferno rose into the sky…

“Since you refuse to see reason, I’ll have to wake you up myself, unfilial daughter!”

Clenching his fingers, Superion melted the sword Helibea had thrust at him into molten iron.

Then,

Superion made a fist with his right hand, condensing holy power.

In the next moment,

A fist burning with sacred fire smashed toward Helibea with overwhelming force!

Faced with Superion’s sudden outburst, Helibea’s eyes also showed surprise.

But within that surprise,

There was not a trace of fear.

As the astonishment faded, what emerged in Helibea’s eyes was a hint of disdain.

—“Father, you’re the one underestimating me, aren’t you?”—

Amid Helibea’s faint murmur,

Superion’s fist came crashing down.

“Boom!!!!!”

With a earth-shattering roar, the entire Sun Crown Palace, the thousand-year-old residence of the Holy King, was shattered by Superion’s holy power and engulfed in flames.

In Superion’s judgment,

This single blow

Was enough to shatter all of Helibea’s protective spells and items,

Disable her seventh-rank strength, and subdue this rebellious daughter once and for all.

Yet,

The next moment,

Superion’s eyes were filled with deep solemnity.

He found that his charged attack did not hit his daughter, but was blocked by a solid ice wall. The ice wall, shimmering with icy-blue magic, glistened like an indestructible barrier.

After Superion’s fist slammed into the ice wall,

Fire and ice collided, emitting a piercing hiss.

Amid the hissing, the ice crystals rapidly melted, but they firmly stopped Superion’s attack. The blazing holy fire was swallowed by the cold aura and vanished instantly.

A hint of surprise crossed Superion’s face. His fist hung in midair, the flames suddenly extinguished.

And in front of his fist was not Helibea, but another face he knew all too well.

Staring at the golden-haired girl with fox ears who had inexplicably appeared before him, staring at the conspicuous black number on her face… Superion couldn’t help but grimly bite his lip.

“AY006… Ice Princess…”
