Join the ServerLuo Xiaoyun had a dream.
In the dream, she was pressing down on soft bedding, her hands gripping the wrists of the person beneath her. She leaned forward slightly, her fingertips unconsciously tightening, sinking into that plush sensation. The person beneath her lifted their head slightly, eyelashes half-lowered, lips slightly parted.
“Muxue~” She laughed in her dream. “You’ve finally fallen into my hands.”
A very soft hum.
Then she felt her wrist suddenly caught by a steady force. The hand that could move just a moment ago was now immobilized. Not the paralysis of a nightmare, but genuinely, firmly, being held by something.
Luo Xiaoyun’s eyes flew open.
The first thing that entered her sight was a sharp, fair, delicate collarbone. Then a face so close it was almost touching her. Su Muxue was looking down at her, eyelashes half-drooping, lips slightly pursed, in a state between sleepy grogginess and wakefulness, with a hint of something indescribable, teasing and tenderness, in her eyes, which were fixed on Luo Xiaoyun’s face.
Luo Xiaoyun’s mind went blank for a full three seconds.
She glanced down instinctively. Between her and Su Muxue, there was almost no barrier. The blanket had slipped to her waist at some point, and her own right hand was resting on Su Muxue’s chest, fingers slightly curled, maintaining a kneading posture.
Su Muxue’s hand was holding her wrist, not hard, but just enough to keep her from moving.
Luo Xiaoyun’s pupils contracted. She pulled her hand back as if burned, grabbed the blanket, and wrapped herself in it, curling up like a silkworm chrysalis. Her face flushed from her neck to the tips of her ears, even her collarbone turning a faint pink.
“I-I-I…” she stammered, her voice trembling. “I didn’t…”
Su Muxue didn’t move. She just lay on her side, propping her head on one hand, watching Luo Xiaoyun huddle like a startled cat. Most of the blanket had been pulled away, leaving Su Muxue’s upper body almost completely exposed, but she didn’t seem to care. She slowly reached out and tugged the blanket back, just enough to cover her chest.
“Didn’t what?” Su Muxue’s voice was low, husky from just waking up. “Didn’t mean to?”
Luo Xiaoyun nodded vigorously, her head bobbing like a chicken pecking rice.
Su Muxue looked at her for two seconds, then suddenly curved her lips. The smile was faint but carried a meaning that made hearts race. “That’s not what you said in your dream.”
Luo Xiaoyun froze.
Su Muxue moved closer. So close that Luo Xiaoyun could clearly see the curve of her long, curled eyelashes, smell the faint scent of gardenias, and feel her warm breath brushing across her cheek. All the blood rushed to her head, and she wished she could disappear on the spot.
“Wh-what did I say?” Luo Xiaoyun’s voice was as faint as a mosquito’s buzz.
Su Muxue didn’t answer. She just slowly sat up, her long hair sliding over her shoulders. She turned her head to look at Luo Xiaoyun’s crimson face and spoke softly, her tone carrying a hint of teasing. “Isn’t it better to be a good pillow princess? Just lie there peacefully.”
Luo Xiaoyun was stunned for a second, then immediately stiffened her neck. Even though she was mortified, she refused to admit defeat. She retorted in a muffled voice, “No! I want to be the one!”
Su Muxue looked at her, blushing and stubborn, and gave a smile. “Then work hard.”
She said those words lightly, but with an air that said, ‘I believe in you, but I don’t think you can do it.’
Luo Xiaoyun decided to change the subject. She looked around. The room was unfamiliar, the bed unfamiliar, the curtains half-drawn. This wasn’t her home at all. She was instantly confused and asked in a small voice, “Wh-where is this?”
“A hotel.” Su Muxue casually ran her fingers through her disheveled hair.
Luo Xiaoyun blinked. “Why are we in a hotel?”
Su Muxue put down her phone and turned to look at her, her expression a mix of helplessness and amusement. “Don’t you remember?”
Luo Xiaoyun tried to recall. Her memory ended at the scene outside the cinema. She had been leaning on Su Muxue’s shoulder, and Su Muxue had supported her out of the theater. Then… then it just stopped. What came after seemed to have been deleted, a complete blank.
She shook her head. “I don’t think I remember…”
“You got drunk on chocolate liqueur yesterday,” Su Muxue said. “I was worried something might happen to you on the way, so I booked a room here.”
Luo Xiaoyun nodded, then looked down at herself. Under the blanket, she was completely naked. She glanced at Su Muxue. The blanket only covered her chest, leaving her shoulders and arms bare.
Her face turned red again.
“Why aren’t I wearing clothes?” Her voice was muffled behind the blanket. “And you too…”
Su Muxue raised an eyebrow. “You should ask yourself that.”
Luo Xiaoyun was taken aback. “Ask myself?”
She shifted, trying to sit up, but suddenly her whole body felt weak, as if she had been beaten. Every muscle ached with fatigue.
“I slept all night, so why do I feel so tired?” she muttered.
Su Muxue glanced at her, her expression unchanged. “Probably didn’t rest well. Hotel beds can be uncomfortable.”
Luo Xiaoyun said “Oh” and didn’t think much of it. She struggled to sit up, and the blanket slipped from her shoulders, revealing large patches of fair skin.
Su Muxue had already gotten out of bed. She was wearing a hotel bathrobe, the belt loosely tied, revealing a stretch of calf. She bent down, picked up Luo Xiaoyun’s dress from the floor, shook it out, and hung it on a hanger.
“Your clothes were scattered all over the floor last night,” she said, picking up another piece.
The two of them changed, checked out, and walked out of the hotel.
The morning breeze was cool and pleasant on their faces. Luo Xiaoyun took a deep breath, feeling her mind finally clear a bit. She took a few steps, then suddenly stopped.
“What’s wrong?” Su Muxue asked.
Luo Xiaoyun’s expression changed from dazed to panicked. “Nuomi! I haven’t picked up Nuomi yet!”
Su Muxue was startled for a moment, then quickly realized. They had gone straight to the hotel after the movie last night, leaving Nuomi at the pet store. They had planned to pick her up later, but they forgot.
“Let’s go now.” Su Muxue took her hand.
Luo Xiaoyun was pulled along, her heart racing with worry. She pulled out her phone to check the time. Fortunately, the pet store opened at eight, and it was just past eight-thirty.
They walked quickly through the mall and out through a side door. The pet store’s sign came into view in the distance. The glass door was already open, warm yellow light spilling out.
Luo Xiaoyun practically ran inside.
Nuomi was lying on the counter, with a bowl of cat food and a bowl of water in front of her. She looked energetic, her fur glossy and tail held high, leisurely licking her paw. When she heard the noise, she looked up at Luo Xiaoyun and let out a slow, deliberate “Meow.”
That meow carried a hint of dissatisfaction: ‘So you finally remembered to come get me.’
Luo Xiaoyun scooped her up and hugged her tightly, burying her face in her soft fur. “Nuomi, I’m sorry… Your big sister came late…”
Nuomi struggled a bit, suffocated by the embrace, but soon stopped and let herself be held. She even extended a tiny paw and placed it on Luo Xiaoyun’s wrist.
Su Muxue walked over and gently stroked Nuomi’s head. Then she turned to the shop owner and thanked her.
The auntie who owned the shop smiled and said it was nothing, Nuomi was very well-behaved. She had played with the other kittens all night and eaten two cans of food.
Luo Xiaoyun hugged Nuomi, kissing and rubbing her. Nuomi looked utterly resigned.
The two of them walked out of the pet store. Luo Xiaoyun held Nuomi in one arm and Su Muxue’s hand with the other.
