Chapter 94: Chocolate and First Kiss

The cinema was on the sixth floor of the mall. Luo Xiaoyun held Su Muxue’s hand all the way, stepping steadily onto the escalator and up to the sixth floor.

As soon as they exited the escalator, the snack shop next to the cinema entrance wafted out a rich, buttery popcorn aroma that made people slow down.

Luo Xiaoyun’s eyes lit up. She tugged Su Muxue toward the shop. Su Muxue helplessly pulled her back and said softly, “You just ate. Can you still eat more?”

“How can you watch a movie without snacks? It’s about the ritual!” Luo Xiaoyun said with a righteous air, and without further ado, she pulled Su Muxue into the shop.

The small snack shop was packed with colorful array of puffed snacks, soft candies, and fruit drinks. Warm yellow light shone on the golden popcorn, and the sweet fragrance mixed with milky aroma filled the air with atmosphere.

Luo Xiaoyun went straight to the counter, ordered a large bucket of freshly popped creamy popcorn, and then grabbed two bags of fruit gummies.

She turned to look at Su Muxue beside her, eyes sparkling: “Muxue, is there anything you want to eat? I’ll get it together.”

Su Muxue gently shook her head, her tone tender: “I just ate and I’m not hungry at all. Just pick what you like. Don’t worry about me.”

Luo Xiaoyun nodded and picked up a bag of original-flavored potato chips. As her gaze swept over the shelves, she was attracted by a box of chocolate with dark brown packaging and simple English print.

She didn’t look closely, just thought the packaging was elegant and pretty, so she grabbed a box and tossed it into her shopping basket.

Su Muxue took the chocolate box, turned it over to look at the ingredient list, raised an eyebrow slightly, but said nothing and put it back into the shopping bag.

Luo Xiaoyun also grabbed a bottle of water. After paying, the two walked out of the snack shop.

There was a modest line in front of the ticket machine. Luo Xiaoyun stood on tiptoe to look, then pulled Su Muxue to the end of the line. After waiting two or three minutes, they got the tickets, and waited a bit more before the ticket checkpoint opened.

The theater was a small one, seating maybe fifty or sixty people. The seats were very comfortable, dark red velvet, with wide armrests that could hold drinks and snacks.

Luo Xiaoyun led Su Muxue to the very center of the last row and sat down contentedly. This was the spot she had specifically asked Su Muxue to pick, the center of the last row, best view, and not easily disturbed.

The lights in the theater dimmed, and ads began to play on the screen. Colorful light flickered in the darkness, the ad sounds mixed with the low chatter of the audience, gradually quieting down.

Luo Xiaoyun pushed the full bucket of popcorn in front of Su Muxue and was about to grab some for herself when she heard Su Muxue’s low, gentle voice close to her ear: “Feed me.”

Luo Xiaoyun’s cheeks instantly flushed a faint red. She muttered quietly, “You have hands. Can’t you take it yourself?”

Su Muxue tilted her head, eyes smiling, her voice very low, only for the two of them to hear: “I want my wife to feed me.”

Luo Xiaoyun’s face turned even redder. She mumbled, “Who’s your wife… I’m your husband.”

Su Muxue chuckled softly, leaning slightly closer, her voice even lower: “I wonder who it was that last time held me and called me all night…”

Before she could finish, Luo Xiaoyun frantically reached out and covered Su Muxue’s mouth, her cheeks so red they looked like they would bleed. Embarrassed and anxious, she said, “Don’t say it, don’t say it! I’ll feed you, okay!”

She withdrew her hand, picked up a piece of popcorn, and carefully brought it to Su Muxue’s lips.

Su Muxue opened her mouth slightly and gently took the popcorn, her warm, soft lips brushing against Luo Xiaoyun’s fingertips.

A tingling sensation shot from her fingertips straight to her heart. Luo Xiaoyun’s heartbeat instantly lost its rhythm, and her fingertips trembled faintly.

The main feature began. Luo Xiaoyun held the popcorn bucket, eating one kernel herself and feeding one to Su Muxue, quietly watching the movie. The atmosphere was tender and sweet.

Halfway through the movie, Luo Xiaoyun got tired of the sweet popcorn. She casually placed the bucket on the empty seat beside her and focused on the screen.

Just then came the iconic scene where the hero and heroine understood each other’s hearts and kissed tenderly under the moonlight.

Luo Xiaoyun immediately leaned over to Su Muxue, grinning like an auntie, and whispered, “So sweet, so shy.”

Su Muxue took her cool little hand, gently stroked her fingertips, and said in a low voice, “Not as sweet as you.”

Luo Xiaoyun turned to look at her, eyes bright, with a hint of innocent smile: “How do you know I’m sweet?”

As soon as she finished, Su Muxue leaned forward slightly and, in the dim light, gently kissed her soft lips. It was just a light, brief touch, but Luo Xiaoyun’s mind went blank.

“That’s how I know,” Su Muxue said, pulling back a little, her eyes full of laughter.

Luo Xiaoyun’s face instantly turned deep red. Her whole body froze, and she even forgot to breathe. Seeing her stunned look, Su Muxue couldn’t help reaching out and gently pinching her flushed cheek.

Luo Xiaoyun shyly turned her face away, not daring to look at her anymore. She grabbed the water bottle and took a big gulp, then pretended to be calm and looked back at the screen, but her ears remained red for a long time.

The story on the screen continued. The hero and heroine ran in the rain, hugged, argued, and made up. Luo Xiaoyun watched, and gradually her mood calmed down.

After a while longer, Luo Xiaoyun remembered the chocolate she had bought.

She reached into the shopping bag, took out the dark brown box, and opened the outer packaging. Inside were individually wrapped small pieces, wrapped in delicate dark gold foil, small and pretty.

She peeled one and brought it to Su Muxue’s lips, her tone cheerful: “Look at this chocolate packaging, it’s so pretty. Taste it and see how it is.”

Su Muxue opened her mouth and took it, chewed slowly twice, and said calmly, “Not bad. A bit on the sweet side.”

“Then let me try it too.” Luo Xiaoyun peeled one for herself and popped it into her mouth.

The chocolate shell melted in her mouth. The moment she bit into the filling, a warm, rich liquor rushed out, mixing with the slight bitterness and sweetness of the chocolate, spreading on her tongue.

Luo Xiaoyun paused, then said indistinctly, “How come there’s alcohol inside?”

Su Muxue’s tone was flat, with a hint of knowing calmness: “This is liquor-filled chocolate. It contains alcohol.”

Luo Xiaoyun chewed and swallowed. A faint aroma of liquor lingered in her mouth. Surprisingly, she found it very tasty, smooth, not greasy, with a mellow liquor flavor. Her eyes lit up, and she peeled another one and handed it to Su Muxue: “This is really good. Try it again.”

Su Muxue took it and ate it quietly. Luo Xiaoyun was completely focused on the delicious chocolate, not noticing the sly smile that flashed in Su Muxue’s eyes.

For the rest of the time, Su Muxue would occasionally peel a chocolate and gently feed it to Luo Xiaoyun’s lips.

Luo Xiaoyun was so absorbed in the movie that she ate without thinking, one after another, relishing them, finding them more and more delicious, and not paying any attention.

Before long, Luo Xiaoyun’s cheeks were tinged with a faint blush, and her eyes slowly became soft and unfocused. Still, she didn’t notice anything unusual and only focused on the movie.

She simply took the remaining chocolates from Su Muxue’s hand and started unwrapping and eating them herself, piece after piece.

Su Muxue, seeing her eating a bit too fast, frowned slightly and gently reminded her, “Eat slowly. The alcohol content is not low. If you eat too much, you’ll get drunk.”

“It’s just chocolate. How drunk can I get?” Luo Xiaoyun waved her hand dismissively, unwrapped another one, and stuffed it into her mouth, completely ignoring the warning.
