Chapter 110: The Little Cotton Coat Returns

Luo Xiaoyun leaned back on the sofa, holding a cup of hot tea, sipping it slowly. Shen Zhiyao sat beside her, holding her hand, gently stroking the back of her thumb.

“Your dad should be back soon.” Shen Zhiyao glanced at the clock on the wall, her tone light. “If he finds out he has a daughter now, he’ll probably jump for joy.”

Luo Xiaoyun’s hand holding the teacup paused, and the corner of her mouth twitched. “My dad isn’t going to think I had a s*x change and beat me up, is he?”

Shen Zhiyao was taken aback for a moment, then burst out laughing. “How is that possible? Just explain it to him. How could your dad bear to hit you?”

Luo Xiaoyun pouted and muttered, “I’m afraid he’ll start whipping me before I even get a chance to explain…”

Shen Zhiyao chuckled. “Is your dad some kind of violent person?”

Luo Xiaoyun nodded rapidly like a chick pecking at rice.

Shen Zhiyao shook her head helplessly, then smiled and squeezed her hand. She put down her cup, cupped Luo Xiaoyun’s face, and looked left and right, her eyes full of joy.

“The more I look, the prettier you get,” Shen Zhiyao said, her eyes sparkling like stars. “These eyes, this nose, these lips, prettier than your mother when she was young.”

Luo Xiaoyun’s face was held captive, and the tips of her ears turned red. “Mom…”

“Your dad wanted a daughter when he was young,” Shen Zhiyao said, letting go and leaning back on the sofa, her tone tinged with reminiscence.

“So did I. But who knew? First child was your eldest brother, a stubborn little boy. Second child was your second brother, a goofball who never took anything seriously. Two sons in a row wore out our hopes for a daughter.

Then I got pregnant with you. Your dad prayed every day for a girl, but when you were born, you were another boy. He was so disappointed he couldn’t sleep for days. He held you and sighed, muttering about why you weren’t a little girl.”

Luo Xiaoyun couldn’t help but laugh. “You shouldn’t talk about eldest brother and second brother like that.”

“I’m telling the truth.” Shen Zhiyao smiled and tapped her nose, then suddenly became serious. “By the way, Xiaoyun, how are things at school now?”

Luo Xiaoyun nodded slightly, her eyes evasive and a little embarrassed. “At school, I’m still pretending to be a boy, just like before.”

“Why pretend to be a boy?” Shen Zhiyao frowned, her heart aching. “My precious daughter should wear pretty little skirts, grow long hair, and do what she loves. Why force yourself to play the part of a boy?”

“I’m not really used to it yet. Suddenly facing so many people as a girl scares me a bit, and it’s embarrassing.” Luo Xiaoyun explained quietly, twisting the hem of her clothes.

“And I’ve been at school for so long. If I suddenly change my identity, I’m afraid everyone won’t accept it, and there will be gossip.”

“Silly child, don’t be afraid. Take your time to adjust. With your mom, your dad, and your brothers around, no one will say anything to you.” Shen Zhiyao comforted her gently, her tone firm.

“In a couple of days, I’ll go to your school and ask the teacher to change all your identity information. From now on, you’ll go to school openly as a girl, wear pretty clothes, and never force yourself again.”

Luo Xiaoyun looked at her mother’s gentle eyes, warmth filling her heart. She nodded vigorously. “Mm, okay. I’ll listen to Mom.”

As mother and daughter talked, the sound of a door opening came. Then steady, heavy footsteps approached.

A tall, upright man nearly 180 cm tall walked in, wearing a dark suit, with a hard-lined face and a commanding presence, it was Luo Xiaoyun’s father, Luo Junhe.

Luo Junhe had just come home from work. He took off his suit jacket, hung it aside, and looked toward the living room.

He immediately spotted the unfamiliar white-haired woman sitting beside his wife, chatting happily with Shen Zhiyao.

The woman was slender, with long hair falling to her shoulders, and gentle features. She looked unfamiliar yet somehow familiar.

A little puzzled, he nevertheless stepped forward politely, nodded slightly at Luo Xiaoyun, and greeted her: “Hello.”

Suddenly stared at by her father, Luo Xiaoyun panicked. She froze in place, her palms sweating, her mind blank. All the words she had rehearsed were forgotten. Seeing Luo Junhe’s stern face, she subconsciously opened her mouth and softly called out, “Dad.”

That “Dad” was soft and light, but it made Luo Junhe freeze on the spot. He looked confused, frowned, and stared at the young girl, completely baffled. “Young lady, what’s this all about? How can you just call someone ‘Dad’ like that? I don’t know you. You can’t just claim family like that.”

Shen Zhiyao couldn’t hold it in anymore. She covered her mouth and laughed. Between laughs, she pulled Luo Xiaoyun over and said to Luo Junhe, “Junhe, this isn’t some strange girl. This is our youngest son, Luo Xiaoyun!”

“What?” Luo Junhe’s eyes twitched violently. His confusion instantly turned to anger. His gaze fell on Luo Xiaoyun, then on her little skirt and long hair. His face darkened, and his tone turned harsh. “You brat? You can’t find anything better to learn than dressing up as a girl? Looking like this, what kind of behavior is that!”

As he spoke, he instinctively reached for the belt at his waist. That belt, known in the family as the “Seven Wolves,” was the most vivid memory of childhood for the Luo brothers. He moved as if to teach Luo Xiaoyun a lesson, shouting, “I’ll teach you a lesson! You never learn anything good, messing around with these crooked ways!”

Seeing this, Luo Xiaoyun turned pale with fear. She jumped off the sofa and quickly hid behind Shen Zhiyao. Peeking out her little head, she cried out aggrievedly, “Dad! I didn’t! I really didn’t go bad. Don’t be angry. Listen to me explain!”

“Stop!” Shen Zhiyao quickly stood up, blocking Luo Junhe. She scolded him, “Luo Junhe, can you calm down? Don’t scare the child with your belt every time! Can you let someone finish speaking before you fly off the handle? What kind of example is that!”

Stopped by his wife, Luo Junhe’s face was still dark, his anger not yet dissipated. “What else is there to say? A perfectly good boy dressed up like this, I have to teach him a lesson today!”

“I haven’t finished talking!” Shen Zhiyao glared at him, then turned and took a prepared medical report from the drawer of the coffee table. She handed it to Luo Junhe, her tone serious. “This isn’t him dressing up on purpose. Xiaoyun’s body itself has a problem. Read this report carefully before you say anything else!”

This wasn’t the one Luo Xiaoyun had taken out earlier. Shen Zhiyao, worried that Luo Junhe wouldn’t believe it, had personally gone to the hospital to print a diagnostic report.

It clearly stated Luo Xiaoyun’s physiological characteristics and chromosome results, stamped with the hospital’s official seal, authoritative and real.

Luo Junhe was full of doubt. He suppressed his anger, took the report, and lowered his head to read it carefully. At first he was impatient, but the further he read, the more his anger faded, replaced by shock.

His frown deepened, his eyes full of disbelief. The hand holding the report trembled slightly.

He read it word by word, then checked the name and information repeatedly. After confirming it was correct, he suddenly looked up at Luo Xiaoyun hiding behind Shen Zhiyao, then at Shen Zhiyao. His voice quivered.

“You mean… Xiaoyun isn’t dressing up as a girl on purpose, but his body was always female, and now it’s completely returned to a girl’s appearance? That means… I… I have a daughter now?”

By the end, his shock turned into ecstasy. His stern demeanor instantly collapsed, his eyes full of excitement and joy. His tone became flustered, devoid of any trace of his earlier severity.

Shen Zhiyao watched him, both helpless and amused, and nodded. “Otherwise what did you think? Would I lie to you? Xiaoyun has suffered for so many years, living as a boy. It hasn’t been easy for her. Don’t wrong her again.”

Luo Junhe didn’t hear the rest. His mind was filled with the words “I have a daughter.” He stood there agitated, looking at Luo Xiaoyun’s soft and adorable appearance. He wanted to approach but was afraid his sternness would scare her. He scratched his head, revealing a rare honest smile, all dignity gone.

“Good, good…” Luo Junhe nodded repeatedly, his voice choked with emotion. “I’ve waited so many years. Finally, I have a daughter! My little cotton coat has come back…”

He looked at Luo Xiaoyun, his eyes instantly becoming infinitely gentle, without a trace of anger, full of love and guilt. “Xiaoyun, it’s Dad’s fault. I wronged you just now. Don’t be angry with Dad. Dad will never do it again. From now on, Dad will cherish you.”

Luo Xiaoyun watched her father’s completely different reactions, saw the genuine joy and guilt in his eyes, and the stone in her heart finally hit the ground. Her eyes reddened slightly. She slowly walked out from behind Shen Zhiyao and softly called out, “Dad.”

“Hey!” Luo Junhe immediately responded, his voice loud and full of joy. He looked at his daughter, more and more satisfied, the corners of his mouth almost reaching his ears. “My good daughter! From now on, at home, wear whatever you want. Whatever you want, Dad will buy it for you. No one can bully you!”

Luo Jingming, who had somehow been standing at the stairs, watched this warm and funny scene and couldn’t help but laugh. “Dad, your face changes too fast! Just now you wanted to whip someone with the Seven Wolves, and now you’re a daughter-crazy monster? Me and eldest brother never got this treatment!”

Luo Junhe glared at him, his tone full of pride. “Can you two brats compare to my daughter? From now on, the daughter is the most important in the family. You both have to give in to her, got it!”
