Join the ServerLuo Xiaoyun opened her mouth, but no sound came out. Su Muxue’s gaze was too deep, too calm, as if it could see through every disguise. She almost thought her identity was about to be exposed.
“Just kidding.” Su Muxue suddenly smiled, a smile like a spring breeze breaking through ice, instantly dispelling the subtle tension of a moment ago. “The medicine is applied. You’d better not do any strenuous exercise for a while.”
She put away the medical kit and stood up to head to the kitchen. “Something to drink? Milk or juice?”
“……Juice is fine.”
Luo Xiaoyun leaned back on the sofa, letting out a long breath. In that instant, she had almost thought Su Muxue knew something.
‘Impossible,’ she thought, shaking her head internally. ‘No one could possibly know that the system turned me into a girl.’
Su Muxue returned with two glasses of orange juice and sat down across from her.
The night deepened outside the window, with faint traffic sounds in the distance. Only a floor lamp was on in the room, casting a warm yellow glow that projected their shadows onto the wall, close together.
“Thank you so much for today.” Su Muxue raised her glass. “To the brave junior.”
Luo Xiaoyun clinked glasses and took a big gulp. The cold juice quenched the dryness in her throat and also helped her calm down a bit.
“You… have you trained before?” she asked. “Those moves earlier were very professional.”
“I learned a few years of martial arts from my grandfather when I was a child.” Su Muxue said lightly. “Just for self-defense.”
“That’s impressive.”
“You’re not bad either.” Su Muxue looked at her. “Have you trained too? Your movements are very standard, just lacking in strength.”
Luo Xiaoyun smiled wryly. “I haven’t practiced much lately.”
“Then how about we train together from now on?” Su Muxue suddenly suggested. “I know a small training room in the school gymnasium. It’s usually empty.”
Luo Xiaoyun was startled. “Ah?”
“Not willing?”
“No…” Luo Xiaoyun lowered her eyes. “It’s just that… this is our first meeting…”
“Think I’m being too forward?” Su Muxue chuckled. “Maybe it’s because you’re so cute that people can’t help but want to get close to you.”
“There you go again!” Luo Xiaoyun protested. “I told you, I’m a guy!”
“Alright, alright, a guy, a guy.” Su Muxue nodded agreeably, but the smile in her eyes deepened. “So, this cute junior, would you like to accept the senior’s invitation?”
Luo Xiaoyun looked at her. Under the lamplight, Su Muxue’s eyes sparkled as if filled with stars.
“……Okay.”
It was almost ten when she left.
Su Muxue saw her off to the apartment building entrance. The night wind was a bit chilly, so Luo Xiaoyun wrapped her jacket tighter.
“Go back and rest early,” Su Muxue said. “If the wound still hurts tomorrow, be sure to tell me.”
“Okay.”
“Oh, right.” Su Muxue called out to her as she was about to turn and leave, pulling out her phone from her pocket. “Want to add each other on WeChat?”
Luo Xiaoyun hesitated for a second, then pulled up her QR code.
With a “ding,” the friend request went through.
Su Muxue’s profile picture was a deep blue sea, and her nickname was simply “Snow.”
“Take care on the way.” She waved. “Good night, Xiaoyun.”
“Mm… Good night, Senior.”
After a few steps, Luo Xiaoyun couldn’t help but look back. Su Muxue was still standing under the streetlamp, her shadow stretched long by the dim yellow light. Seeing Luo Xiaoyun turn around, she raised her hand and waved again.
Luo Xiaoyun quickened her pace, her heart pounding in her chest.
In her mind, the system’s voice rang out softly:
“Host, this ‘senior’s’ interest in you has already broken through the initial threshold.”
“Mind your own business!” Luo Xiaoyun retorted shyly.
“Also, a reminder: your ‘male voice mode’ usage time for today is still fifty-seven minutes. Please arrange accordingly.”
Luo Xiaoyun paused mid-step, then almost ran toward the barbecue stall.
And downstairs at the apartment, Su Muxue still stood there. She looked down at the newly added contact on her phone screen—the note read “Cute Junior,” the profile picture was a white cat with its fur standing on end, and the nickname was also a single word “Cloud.”
She smiled softly, her fingertip brushing across the screen.
“Really an interesting little one,” she murmured, her words melting into the night breeze.
