If an alpha enters heat and does not receive a suppressant injection or comfort from an omega in time, they will lose their rationality and attack indiscriminately.
Bai Qingqing naturally heard the shout as well. Watching Liu Qiu press her lips tightly together, she glanced around and soon fixed her gaze on a woman clutching the back of her neck in pain.
The corners of her lips slowly curved upward. From her fingertips spread a wisp of green mist invisible to ordinary people, drifting swiftly toward the woman before sinking into her body.
The woman’s eyes flew wide open. Her entire body began convulsing, and then, with a roll of her eyes, she collapsed limply to the floor.
Bai Qingqing’s expression turned indifferent for a brief instant, but just as quickly, a trace of gentleness returned.
Shocked cries erupted from behind them.
Liu Qiu didn’t know what had happened, but she felt the pressure around her lighten, as though the source suppressing her had suddenly disappeared.
Bai Qingqing’s smiling voice sounded near her ear. “Qiuqiu, does it feel awful?”
Liu Qiu shook her head, releasing her lips that she had bitten pale. Relief washed over her faintly. She had nearly knelt just now.
It had felt terrible a moment ago, but once the suppression vanished, her body improved instantly.
That so-called pheromone was truly terrifying.
She hadn’t even done anything, and yet it affected her like this. Heat cycles were just as frightening—like wild beasts losing control.
This world was too dangerous. She needed to finish her mission as soon as possible.
Lost in thought, Liu Qiu failed to notice Bai Qingqing’s movement.
Bai Qingqing reached out and tucked the hair at Liu Qiu’s cheek behind her ear. Gazing at her delicate, clean side profile and her small, pale ear, she leaned closer and bit down on Liu Qiu’s earlobe.
It wasn’t flirtation. She injected a small amount of venom into Liu Qiu’s body. This venom would saturate Liu Qiu with her scent.
Alphas did not carry pheromones of other alphas, but the thought that Liu Qiu had just inhaled a large amount of another alpha’s scent irritated Bai Qingqing.
Liu Qiu was her prey. She would not allow anyone else to touch her, nor permit another’s scent to linger on her body—even if she herself couldn’t smell pheromones.
The damp, icy sensation mixed with a faint sting made Liu Qiu’s scalp tingle instantly.
Her ears and cheeks flushed uncontrollably, not from shyness, but from sheer fright.
She wanted to curse, but saying it aloud would break character. Why had Bai Qingqing suddenly bitten her? It was like being haunted.
From Bai Qingqing’s perspective, however, Liu Qiu’s reddened face looked like embarrassment. She pressed close, so close that Liu Qiu’s arm sank into her chest.
A faint blush colored Bai Qingqing’s cheeks, and an astonishing allure shimmered across her beautiful face.
“Qiuqiu, face me, alright?”
Liu Qiu stiffly turned around, allowing herself to fall fully into Bai Qingqing’s embrace.
Bai Qingqing was too close—close enough for Liu Qiu to see the fine texture of her skin and smell that cloying sweetness.
“W-Wife… what’s wrong?” Liu Qiu stammered.
Bai Qingqing narrowed her eyes, staring at Liu Qiu’s bewildered expression. She took Liu Qiu’s hand and guided it downward. “Qiuqiu, try here.” It wasn’t enough. She needed Liu Qiu to be thoroughly covered in her scent.
In an instant, Liu Qiu’s eyes widened in shock. Had Bai Qingqing lost her mind? This was a bus.
She hurriedly pulled her hand back and pressed her thin lips together tightly. Even without words, the refusal was obvious.
Bai Qingqing chuckled softly. “Qiuqiu, are you some kind of antique?”
Liu Qiu ignored her.
The bus had stopped due to someone fainting, and they had to wait for the ambulance.
Liu Qiu got off with Bai Qingqing. With two stops left, it was only about a ten-minute walk.
She kept her head down and walked quickly, not wanting to speak.
At moments like this, the original host’s taciturn personality came in handy. Staying silent wouldn’t break character.
A sudden tug on her wrist pulled her into Bai Qingqing’s front.
Bai Qingqing’s coquettish voice carried a trace of coldness that others might not detect. “Qiuqiu, I told you not to touch other people.”
Liu Qiu blinked in confusion and looked up, only to realize that if Bai Qingqing hadn’t pulled her back, she would have collided with someone.
Bai Qingqing released her wrist, concealing the chill she hadn’t fully masked.
“Sorry, Qiuqiu. I spoke too urgently. I was worried someone might bump into you and hurt you.”
Liu Qiu looked at her and said softly, “It wouldn’t have.”
“My body is fine.”
Bai Qingqing rubbed the fingers that had just held Liu Qiu’s wrist, her delicate brows knitting slightly. Why hadn’t Liu Qiu called her “wife” just now?
Was she upset about what happened on the bus?
When they reached the company entrance, Bai Qingqing did not follow her inside.
Watching Liu Qiu’s hurried figure, the smile on her face faded slightly.
Had she been too good to her? Was that why she dared to have a temper?
She didn’t particularly like her prey showing temper.
The whispering seemed louder than usual. Clutching her bag tightly, Liu Qiu quickened her pace.
If she could just get back to her office.
Malice was everywhere. She couldn’t understand it. The original host hadn’t committed any heinous wrongdoing—so why did her colleagues despise her so much?
Just because she was a bit withdrawn?
Suddenly, Liu Qiu walked straight into someone’s chest.
“Liu Qiu.”
A hand rested lightly on her shoulder and pushed her back. The cool, magnetic voice added, “Watch where you’re going.”
Liu Qiu looked up sharply and met Song Ciyu’s refined face.
Her lips moved slightly before she managed to say, “S-Sorry, Director Song.”
Song Ciyu stepped back deliberately, creating distance. “Mm. Don’t walk with your head down.”
Looking into Liu Qiu’s misty eyes, Song Ciyu took out a pair of glasses and placed them on her face, her fingers brushing lightly across Liu Qiu’s cheek.
“I was just about to look for you.”
Liu Qiu’s vision cleared. Song Ciyu’s rational, beautiful features came into focus. She lowered her head and murmured, “Th-Thank you, Director Song.”
Out of the corner of her eye, Song Ciyu noticed the employees glancing over. She patted Liu Qiu’s shoulder. “Let’s go. Work’s about to start.”
Liu Qiu nodded and walked forward, gripping her bag strap.
Watching her slender back, Song Ciyu lifted a finger to her own lips.
As expected, brief contact couldn’t leave an alpha’s pheromones behind.
“Ugh, so disgusting. Liu Qiu’s wife even came to drop her off this morning, and then she turns around and flirts with Director Song.”
“I saw it too. No wonder she always looked smug when mentioning her wife. Honestly, she’s actually pretty once you see her without glasses.”
“Who knows what tricks Liu Qiu used to get Director Song to personally bring her glasses? She even ran into Director Song’s arms on purpose. So calculating.”
“Without glasses she does look better, but not enough to captivate Director Song. She must’ve used some kind of method.”
An alpha’s physical constitution was already superior, and even more so for a dominant alpha.
To Song Ciyu, those whispers were as clear as if spoken beside her ear.
She made no move to stop them. This was exactly what she wanted.
She had cultivated too good an image for herself; people instinctively justified her actions and pushed the blame onto Liu Qiu.
When Liu Qiu’s entire environment was filled with malice, the kindness Song Ciyu displayed would seem exceptionally gentle.
Delivering the glasses had been a whim—she had seen Bai Qingqing through the window.
Bai Qingqing’s arrival would amplify the others’ hostility toward Liu Qiu.
With such a beautiful, attentive wife at home, yet flirting with a same-s*x superior at work?
Every intimate gesture she made toward Liu Qiu would spark speculation and discussion.
Rumors were the easiest things to exaggerate.
Song Ciyu lowered her long lashes and followed Liu Qiu.
Her tall figure loomed behind her, casting a shadow. Her gaze was deep, like an invisible net slowly tightening around Liu Qiu.
Perhaps the stare was too obvious. Liu Qiu sensed something and turned her head.
Meeting her side profile, Song Ciyu asked calmly, “What is it?”
Liu Qiu parted her lips, then after a moment said, “Nothing.”
Maybe it was just her imagination, but she felt as though a thick, clinging gaze had swept over her back, leaving her chilled.
In the office, seated at her desk, Liu Qiu heard Song Ciyu’s question.
“Liu Qiu, why didn’t you go home last night?”
Liu Qiu lowered her head, fingers twisting together. “I… I overslept.”
A soft laugh sounded from not far away. “At least you’re honest. Be more careful next time.”
“If I hadn’t come, you would’ve had to sleep at the company.”
Inside, Liu Qiu sighed. [My boss is really nice—just with unusual tastes.]
The system drawled, [Because this is a novel. The ones who get cheated on are always high-quality stocks. You won’t see short, poor, and ugly ones.]
[Look at the original host—too short, poor, and ugly to even get scraps. You’re lucky. You’ve already gotten a taste not long after arriving.]
On the surface, Liu Qiu lowered her head shyly. “Thank you, Director Song.” Then she fell silent again, appearing withdrawn.
Privately, she chatted animatedly with the system.
[You mean last night? I don’t think that counts. I only used my fingers. There wasn’t any other contact.]
The system fell silent for a moment. It finally understood why the host had called it average. Fingers weren’t sexual organs, and there hadn’t even been basic kissing or friction. No wonder the host had felt no emotional fluctuation facing Bai Qingqing that morning.
With her blockheadedness, she probably hadn’t considered it a big deal at all.
Liu Qiu opened the task panel.
[Prompt: You are poor and unattractive, a withdrawn inferior A. Your wife is a stunning beta. You often take pride in having married such a gentle, considerate wife, unaware that she despises you from the bottom of her heart and has already formed physical relationships with your friend, your superior, and your neighbor.
Later, you wake in the middle of the night and discover their affair. But unable to let go of your gentle, considerate wife, you swallow it down and wear one green hat after another.]
This description simply outlined the general direction of the plot.
Combining it with what the system had said, Liu Qiu easily deduced one thing: she was the protagonist. Every step she took would become part of the storyline, eventually forming a complete novel.
[Mission: Obtain Cuckold Value: (25/100)]
[Host, do you need more instructional videos? I’m sure your wife will want it again,] the system suggested.
Liu Qiu refused. [No need. I’ll just use my fingers.]
The videos the system had provided were actually quite aesthetic—two women entwined on a bed, sensual yet beautiful, not lacking in desire nor in artistry.
But they weren’t necessary between her and Bai Qingqing.
Normally, Bai Qingqing didn’t even let her touch her. During intimate acts, she would certainly try her best to avoid contact.
The system posed a question. [Host, you live every day with such a stunning beauty. Won’t you fall in love? As far as I know, humans form attachments easily.]
Liu Qiu turned on her computer. She couldn’t deny that Bai Qingqing was extremely attractive. Her appearance alone was enough to captivate most people. But that was all.
[No. I want to go home. I don’t want to leave unnecessary emotions in a place like this.]
From beginning to end, she had only one goal.
The system clicked its tongue twice and muted itself. Its host was even colder than expected—but that was good. That way, she could complete the mission properly.
