Chapter 14: Invisibility Field

“Oh, I forgot to mention.”

Bai Yue set down her teacup, her fingertips tapping lightly on the tabletop, producing a rhythmic tap, tap, tap as if she were deep in thought.

“The flying boat will soon pass by a town called ‘Falling Cloud City.’

We’ll make a stop there to stock up on supplies.”

She raised her eyes, her gaze falling on the two of them, her tone brooking no argument.

“The two of you need to get some daily necessities too.”

Besides, she wanted to look around as well.

Ever since transmigrating into this world, she hadn’t had a real chance to experience its local customs and culture.

“W-We’re going down… dressed like this?”

Su Qingyan confirmed in a small voice, a barely noticeable tremor in her words.

She instinctively tugged at her skirt, trying to make it longer, but it was clearly futile.

Her smooth calves and the curves wrapped in white stockings remained boldly exposed to the air.

“Or what?”

Bai Yue shot back.

Then, as if a thought struck her, the corner of her mouth curled into a malicious grin.

“Or would you prefer that ‘Lotus Rising from Water’ outfit from before?”

“…”

One sentence, and both of them fell silent.

Compared to that transparent gauze that was practically the same as being naked, this outfit—however strange—at least covered a lot more surface area.

“Not happy about it?”

Bai Yue raised an eyebrow, her voice dropping three degrees in temperature.

“Since when do you have the right to question this lady’s orders?”

An invisible pressure instantly enveloped the entire cabin—the aura of a powerful cultivator, cold and tyrannical, making both Xiao Yueluo and Su Qingyan’s breath catch at once.

They were reminded once more that the woman before them was no one to bargain with.

“…We wouldn’t dare.”

Su Qingyan was the first to lower her head, murmuring softly.

Xiao Yueluo bit her lower lip until it nearly bled, her face cycling through shades of white and red.

In the end, she humiliatingly lowered her proud head.

When you’re under someone else’s roof, you have no choice but to bow your head.

She had learned that lesson more times than she cared to count today.

“Good.”

Bai Yue nodded in satisfaction, withdrawing her pressure.

She rose to her feet, leisurely straightening her sleeves.

“Then let’s go.”

She turned and strode toward the cabin door, leaving behind only a noble, icy silhouette for the two behind her.

Xiao Yueluo and Su Qingyan exchanged a glance, both seeing the same helplessness and… resignation in each other’s eyes.

Silently, they followed behind Bai Yue, step for step.

The flying boat slowly descended, eventually coming to rest in a secluded forest outside Falling Cloud City.

Bai Yue put away the flying boat and led the two toward the city gates not far away.

Falling Cloud City was a bustling cultivation town, with towering walls, wide streets, and a constant stream of people coming and going.

There were cultivators riding flying swords, merchant caravans riding exotic beasts, and plainly dressed mortals—a truly lively scene.

However, when Bai Yue and her companions appeared at the city gates, the lively scene seemed to hit a pause button.

Countless gazes—some admiring, some curious, some greedy, some contemptuous—all swiveled toward them.

Bai Yue herself was fine; her splendid Daoist robe and ethereal, otherworldly demeanor marked her as someone of high status, not someone ordinary people would dare to provoke lightly.

But Xiao Yueluo and Su Qingyan behind her became the center of attention.

“Look!

Those two women… their clothing is so strange!”

“Hiss— What kind of magical artifact are they wearing on their legs?

It’s mesh?”

“Shameless!

Absolutely shameless!

In broad daylight, wearing something so revealing!”

“Shh!

Keep your voice down!

Haven’t you seen the one walking in front?

Her aura is extraordinary—probably a young lady from some sect.

The two behind are likely just her servants or… cauldrons.”

“Tsk, what a pity about those two fine faces.

So young, yet so lacking in shame.”

Whispers flooded in from all directions like a tide.

Though deliberately muted, how could cultivators’ keen hearing miss them?

Su Qingyan’s face turned deathly pale in an instant.

She instinctively clutched the hem of Xiao Yueluo’s clothes, lowering her head, not daring to look at anyone.

Xiao Yueluo’s reaction was far more intense.

Her body tensed instantly, her hands clenched into fists so tight her nails dug into her palms.

An icy killing intent radiated from her.

Her beautiful eyes, no longer filled with shame and anger, became daggers of ice as they swept across the pointing and whispering crowd.

Anyone caught by her gaze felt a chill run down their necks, as if they had been targeted by some primordial beast.

One by one, they shrank back and dared not speak further.

Bai Yue, walking in front, suddenly stopped.

“So noisy.”

She uttered these two words lightly, not loudly, but laced with impatience.

Xiao Yueluo’s heart tightened.

Was this demon about to unleash a bloodbath?

But the bloodbath she feared never came.

Bai Yue merely raised her right hand slightly, casually snapping her long, slender fingers in the air.

Snap.

A crisp sound.

Immediately, an incredibly pure surge of spiritual energy, mixed with true qi, radiated from Bai Yue like ripples of water, rapidly spreading outward.

Xiao Yueluo hadn’t even seen her activate any technique, but the force had already enveloped a perimeter of one zhang around them.

At that instant, light itself seemed to warp strangely.

The pedestrians who had stopped to gawk at their bizarre attire suddenly seemed to lose their target.

A few cultivators in the front row, who had been pointing and spitting with enthusiasm, stiffened mid-motion, their eyes going blank.

“Huh?

Where’d they go?”

“Wh-Where are those female cultivators from just now?”

“What the hell?

They vanished into thin air?

Could some great master have used a ground-shrinking escape technique?”

A brief commotion rippled through the crowd, but it quickly subsided.

A street vendor carrying a pole walked straight toward Su Qingyan’s direction.

She squeezed her eyes shut in fright.

But there was no collision.

The vendor, less than half a foot away, naturally sidestepped, curved around them in a small arc, humming an unknown tune as he passed by.

“Th-This…” Su Qingyan opened her eyes, utterly incredulous.

Xiao Yueluo was equally stunned.

An invisibility field.

Not just hiding their forms, but even their aura, sound, and even others’ subconscious instinct to avoid obstacles—all accounted for.

What terrifying cultivation and spiritual sense control did that require?

In their eyes, Bai Yue’s image rose yet another notch.

At this level of cultivation, even if she could do things like see through walls, hypnotize, or stop time, they wouldn’t be surprised anymore.

But Bai Yue’s act of shielding them from sight didn’t put Xiao Yueluo at ease.

On the contrary, the moment the invisibility field formed, her heart leaped to her throat.

Why?

Why would she suddenly use an invisibility technique in such a public place?

Oh no.

She couldn’t be planning to do it right here in the middle of the street…

Xiao Yueluo’s mind uncontrollably flooded with rumors she had heard—scandalous tales about top-tier powers and demonic overlords.

It was said that in pursuit of ultimate thrills, they would often take their favorite concubines or carefully trained cauldrons to secluded places at night—or even to busy streets like this—and use special techniques to create a private space, indulging in the union of yin and yang to satisfy their twisted desires.

Could it be…

She was going to…

Here?

Now?!
