Though she was cursing internally, Bai Yue maintained her flawless icy composure on the surface.
“Thank you for the pill, Master.”
Her voice carried no emotion.
She stepped forward, extending her hand.
“This disciple will take it back and consume it during seclusion.”
Bai Yue planned to grab it and run—then crush it and flush it down a latrine the moment she got back.
But her perfect plan was met with harsh reality.
Just as her fingertips were about to touch the pill, An Ran twisted her wrist and pulled it back.
“No.”
An Ran wagged her finger with a smile.
“This medicine is potent and volatile—it must be taken fresh.
Come on, take it now.
Master will personally guard your cultivation here.”
“This disciple’s state of mind is currently unsettled.
Taking medicine rashly could lead to a deviation,” Bai Yue replied coldly, withdrawing her hand and stepping back half a pace.
“An unsettled state of mind is exactly when you need medicine to regulate it!”
An Ran hopped off the bed.
Barefoot on the jade floor, she advanced step by step.
“Not needed.”
“Take it!!
Take it!!!”
“No.”
Bai Yue had retreated to the door of the hall, her hand already on the frame, ready to force her way out.
Seeing her disciple so stubbornly resistant, An Ran’s smile vanished.
She stopped in her tracks, narrowed her eyes, and her tone turned resentful and dangerous: “You’re on guard against me?
Would Master ever do anything to harm you?”
Bai Yue looked at her silently.
Her gaze clearly conveyed one message: I wouldn’t trust you as far as I could throw you, you old fox.
The two were at a stalemate.
“Fine.
Not taking it, are you?”
An Ran let out a cold laugh.
She slowly rolled up her sleeves and pointed a finger toward the mountain below.
“I’ll go down the mountain right now!
Head to that inn and slaughter those two eyesores!”
An Ran threatened through gritted teeth.
“One sword strike each, chop them into pieces and feed them to the dogs!
Let’s see if you can protect them!”
Bai Yue’s fists clenched so tightly her knuckles turned white.
This madwoman was absolutely capable of doing that.
If An Ran went on a rampage at the inn, with her current cultivation level, she couldn’t possibly stop the number one sword immortal of the Nine Provinces.
Using Xiao Yueluo’s life to threaten her into taking the pill—what a brilliant move.
Bai Yue took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
She frantically called out to the system in her mind.
System, I’m counting on your Sage Mode.
If you fail me, I’ll drag you out of my consciousness and throw you into a latrine!
After threatening the system, Bai Yue opened her eyes, her tone cold enough to freeze ice.
“I’ll take it.”
She strode forward, snatched the black pill with its strange sweet scent from An Ran’s hand, and without even looking at it, tossed it into her mouth.
Gulp.
Down it went.
“I’ve taken it.”
Bai Yue stood there expressionless.
“Satisfied?”
An Ran froze for a moment.
Then, ecstasy spread across her face.
“Satisfied!
Absolutely satisfied!”
An Ran practically vibrated with excitement, rubbing her hands together as her eyes locked onto Bai Yue, not wanting to miss a single reaction.
She even began eagerly tugging at her collar, exposing even more of her already bared skin.
“How do you feel, Yue’er?”
An Ran’s voice trembled with undisguised anticipation.
“Do you feel hot?
Is there a fire burning in your dantian?
Do you feel… empty?
Like you want to hold your master?”
An Ran swallowed, practically drooling.
One second.
Ten seconds.
Thirty seconds.
Bai Yue stood perfectly still.
Under the tyrannical, absolute suppression of the system’s Sage Mode, the medicinal power—enough to make a high-level cultivator lose all reason—had barely dissolved in her stomach before it was mercilessly crushed, never reaching her brain.
In the end, it merely turned into a wisp of pure spiritual energy, supplementing her dantian.
Not a single drop of sweat appeared on Bai Yue.
If anything, her gaze was clearer than before.
“…”
“…”
The vast bedchamber fell into dead silence.
An Ran froze in her half-undressed pose, the excitement on her face slowly congealing.
Turning into bewilderment, then into deep confusion.
“This isn’t right…” An Ran let go of her collar and circled Bai Yue twice in disbelief.
She reached out a finger and prodded Bai Yue’s waist, muttering to herself.
“That old hag swore up and down that even a Nascent Soul cultivator would burn with desire after taking this…
Couldn’t you at least breathe a little heavier?
Blush a bit?”
Bai Yue looked at her coldly, like she was staring at an idiot.
“Master’s guarding session—is it over?”
An Ran stood dumbfounded, staring at Bai Yue’s deadpan face.
A few seconds later, she snapped out of it.
She spun around, clenched her fists, and let out a series of sharp cracks from her knuckles.
“That lying old hag!!!”
An Ran trembled with rage, kicking a nearby white jade table into splinters.
“Dare to sell me fake medicine!
I went to her place acting cute and pathetic while I was shrunk—wasted half the day pretending to be a fool—and she gives me counterfeit goods?!
Even lying to a child—is she even human?!”
An Ran grabbed the Heaven-Severing Sword, her sword aura erupting in a wild storm.
“Just you wait!
I’m going to the Joyous Union Sect right now and splitting that broken mountain of yours in half!”
Watching An Ran descend into a berserk state, Bai Yue didn’t waste a single word.
Without hesitation, she pressed two fingers together, spiritual energy blazing at her fingertips.
Forming a hand seal.
“Master, take care.
This disciple takes her leave.”
Before the words had even faded, Bai Yue’s form had already transformed into a streak of light, vanishing from the bedchamber faster than she had ever moved before.
Leaving only An Ran alone in the empty hall, cursing and hopping with rage.

Du Xian Sect, Tianji City, a quiet inn.
Bai Yue stopped before the door.
She casually removed the cold silver metal mask from her face and rubbed her brow with her fingertips.
That trip back to Piaomiao Peak had been mentally and physically exhausting.
Dealing with a master like An Ran—with her horrible personality and her tendency to turn into a—was more draining than fighting high-tier demon beasts in a secret realm.
She hadn’t wanted to expose herself.
Ugh!!!
Bai Yue let out a long, heavy sigh, then tucked the mask into her storage ring and placed her hand on the door, ready to go back to her room to rest.
The door let out a faint creak.
By the dim candlelight from the corridor, her gaze swept across the room.
Xiao Yueluo was curled up on her bed, breathing steadily, fast asleep.
Her signature white hair was spread across the pillow.
At the edge of the bed, Su Qingyan lay with her arms folded on the mattress, her head resting on them—also sound asleep.
Bai Yue paused in the middle of pushing the door open.
Judging by the scene, Su Qingyan had probably been watching over Xiao Yueluo for most of the night, finally succumbing to exhaustion and falling asleep by the bedside.
Bai Yue watched for a moment, then thought better of disturbing them.
She silently pulled the door shut again and turned to walk toward the adjacent room—the one originally belonging to Xiao Yueluo and Su Qingyan.
