Join the ServerXiao Yueluo opened her eyes.
The first thing she saw was Bai Yue’s chin, close enough to touch.
And in Bai Yue’s eyes, that strange look of someone who had just “finished enjoying some kind of feast.”
Xiao Yueluo froze for two seconds.
A cool breeze brushed past, and a chill that didn’t belong to the season crept across her chest.
She instinctively looked down.
“Hiss—”
Xiao Yueluo sucked in a sharp breath.
Her cyan outer robe had been blown up by the strong wind from the high-altitude fall, flipped all the way up to her chest.
That bright red mandarin-duck bellyband was now completely exposed to the air, and her two bare legs were hanging out as well—her stockings had vanished without a trace.
“Ah!”
Xiao Yueluo let out a short yelp, her face turning red as a boiled crab—even her neck flushed pink.
She scrambled out of Bai Yue’s arms, nearly twisting her ankle as she landed.
She yanked her flipped outer robe back down with a vengeance, clutching it tightly over her chest like a respectable maiden who’d just been harassed by a scoundrel.
“Y-you…” Xiao Yueluo stammered, her ears burning red.
Bai Yue folded her arms across her chest, her tone utterly calm—showing not a shred of guilt about having stolen someone’s stockings.
“The mandarin ducks are nicely embroidered.”
“You!”
Xiao Yueluo was mortified to the point of fury.
She backed away two steps, still clutching her chest, her eyes reddening.
Bai Yue raised an eyebrow, showing no sign that her remark was in any way inappropriate.
She delivered a merciless follow-up: “But next time you fall from a height, maybe try remembering that you’re a cultivator first, alright?”
Xiao Yueluo froze.
“That thing hanging at your waist is a sword, not a fire poker.”
Bai Yue pointed at her sword.
“Your spirit root is fully restored.
And yet here you are—practicing your soprano?”
Xiao Yueluo’s face burned even hotter.
The humiliation that had filled her chest moments ago instantly transformed into shame.
She lowered her head, staring fixedly at her own toes, her hands twisting together, not daring to utter a single word in rebuttal.
She had to admit—she’d been so terrified that her mind went blank, completely forgetting every sword-riding incantation and lightness technique she’d ever learned.
“Yueluo, are you okay?”
A steady set of footsteps approached from behind.
Su Qingyan walked over, her clothes perfectly neat, not a single strand of hair out of place—clearly, that phantom hand had protected her well.
“Are you hurt?
Are you injured?”
Su Qingyan asked, looking at Xiao Yueluo with concern.
“N-no, I’m fine.”
Xiao Yueluo shook her head frantically like a rattle-drum.
“I’m perfectly fine.
Nothing happened.”
Su Qingyan gave her a skeptical look, then glanced at Bai Yue beside her, who wore a completely unruffled expression.
Wisely, she chose not to press further.
“Since no one’s dead, let’s get down to business.
Look around you.”
Bai Yue clapped her hands, cutting short the brief exchange of pleasantries, and began surveying their surroundings.
Xiao Yueluo finally lifted her gaze from her toes and looked around.
The sight left her utterly stunned.
Towering ancient trees cast dappled shadows, the air thick with rich spiritual energy that tasted sweet with every breath.
Colorful, exotic flowers swayed gently in the breeze.
Upon closer inspection, she could see translucent spirit butterflies fluttering between the blossoms, trailing long, flowing streams of light behind them.
“Wow…”
Xiao Yueluo was mesmerized.
Her previously tense body relaxed instantly.
Bai Yue said nothing, simply crossing her arms and squinting at the scene.
When things were this picture-perfect, something was definitely wrong.
“Stop gawking and close your mouth.”
Bai Yue’s tone was flat.
“This isn’t some scenic getaway.”
Xiao Yueluo turned her head, casting a wronged look at Bai Yue and muttering under her breath: “Can’t I even look?
It’s so beautiful here.”
“Beautiful?”
Bai Yue let out a cold laugh, sweeping her gaze over the flowers that were a little too vibrant.
“The prettier the scenery, the more efficiently it devours you—without leaving a single bone behind.”
Xiao Yueluo flushed slightly.
“I was just surveying the terrain!
That’s what a qualified cultivator does—staying aware of their surroundings at all times!”
Just then.
From the waist-high grass ahead came a faint rustling sound.
“Shh-shh… shh-shh…”
The blades of grass began to shake irregularly, as if something was approaching their direction.
“Something’s there!”
Xiao Yueluo reacted in an instant, her longsword singing from its sheath with a clear ring.
Her small frame dropped into a battle stance, spiritual energy flickering along the blade.
Su Qingyan’s eyes sharpened as she raised her high-pressure pneumatic repeating crossbow and took aim.—Since no one else was around, there was no need to hide it.
Bai Yue, however, didn’t move.
She simply narrowed her eyes, watching the violently rustling grass.
Here it came—the destined heroine’s first appetizer mob in the dungeon, about to make its grand entrance.
Rustle!
The grass parted abruptly.
A round, fluffy figure burst out and landed with a soft plop on the clearing before the three of them.
Xiao Yueluo held her sword at the ready, poised to strike.
Su Qingyan’s finger rested on the trigger.
Bai Yue focused her gaze.
It was a rabbit.
A pure white, long-eared creature resembling a rabbit.
It squatted on the ground, staring at them with innocent ruby-like eyes, its three-part mouth twitching.
“Chirp-chirp, meep-chirp.”
The air went silent for three seconds.
The tip of Xiao Yueluo’s murderously poised sword involuntarily dropped three inches.
Su Qingyan relaxed her guard slightly, though she didn’t fully lower her weapon.
“So… so cute…” Xiao Yueluo breathed.
She unconsciously took a step forward, reaching out to touch that fluffy white fur.
“Hey there, little one, why are you all alone here…”
“I’d advise you not to touch it.”
Bai Yue’s languid voice drifted from behind.
“Why?”
Xiao Yueluo turned back.
“It’s just a rabbit.
Bai Yue, don’t you think you’re being a little paranoid?”
“Oh?
Is that so.”
Bai Yue curled the corner of her mouth, picked up a stone from the ground, and hurled it at the Biqiu Rabbit.
Then, before Xiao Yueluo’s suddenly constricted pupils—that fuzzy, adorable little rabbit face split open.
Literally, in the physical sense.
The rabbit’s entire mouth split all the way back to its ears, revealing row after row of densely packed, razor-sharp dark red fangs, arranged like the gears of a meat grinder!
That maw was large enough to swallow an adult’s head whole, with viscous, foul-smelling green liquid dripping from between the teeth.
“ROOOAR—!!!”
The rabbit let out a piercing, blood-curdling screech—not a trace of cuteness remained!
Xiao Yueluo’s pupils quaked.
“HOLY CRAP—!!!”
She let out a soprano shriek a full two octaves higher than her free-fall scream, stumbling backward.
“Wh-what the hell is this monster…”
