Chapter 27: Poor You

“Hmph! Don’t lump me together with those lowly dragons. I am a noble Abyssal Dragon!”

Hearing You’s words, Mo Xiao immediately pushed herself up from Bai Yuan, her eyes already clear again.

Something like lust couldn’t possibly affect her. What happened earlier was simply her way of teaching her foolish master a lesson.

…Though, thinking back, You’s face did seem a bit sweeter.

Mo Xiao glanced over, as if tempted to test it again.

“All dragons are the same. Aren’t all these ‘races’ just things you people made up? What’s noble about any of it?”

You shot her a glance before tossing the tissue aside and sitting back on the bed.

By now, Bai Yuan had recovered from her embarrassment. She wrapped her arms around Mo Xiao’s waist and lightly tickled her.

“Is that all you’ve got, useless master? Put some strength into it~”

Mo Xiao, being a dragon, could manifest dragon scales—tickling her was practically useless.

“Hmph! Mo Xiao, you’re bullying me… I’m not talking to you anymore.”

Seeing her “revenge” fail, Bai Yuan puffed her cheeks and flopped back onto the bed.

With Mo Xiao still on top of her, she couldn’t even get up.

“You two are such lazy bums! Do you even know what time it is? And I still have to cook for you—hmph!”

In truth, Mo Xiao was feeling a bit embarrassed herself. With things calming down, she quickly found an excuse and slipped off to the kitchen.

“Your dragon… is she a tsundere or something? Why does she act so strangely?”

You couldn’t help but ask after noticing the faint redness at the tips of Mo Xiao’s ears.

“That’s not my doing! I didn’t write her like that. She just acts this way on her own… and she’s not even tsundere, she’s just bossy.”

Bai Yuan replied helplessly. No matter how much she thought she understood Mo Xiao, something always felt off.

“Isn’t she your spirit? How do you not know anything about her?”

“Hey, don’t just talk about me. You should have a spirit too, right? I’ve never seen you summon one.”

Bai Yuan felt they had grown closer. She was no longer as reserved as before—it felt more like talking to a friend now.

“I don’t have one. And I don’t need one.”

You was silent for a long moment before answering.

To her, spirit companions were nothing more than tools created by the Creator God—just food, in the end.

“Eh? Then you’re not a Spirit Author? What are you? A Sound-type? A Painter-type?”

“Neither. I’m just an ordinary person.”

“Really? Ordinary people can’t survive in this world, you know.”

Seeing that You didn’t want to elaborate, Bai Yuan didn’t press further. She simply sighed and got up to organize the spiritual materials she had gathered earlier.

You didn’t understand.

Since birth, she had only known one thing—devour everything.

Humans were nothing more than small snacks to her. She had never paid them any real attention.

If not for the Creator God suddenly appearing at this academy, she wouldn’t have come here at all.

Sitting quietly on the bed, she watched Bai Yuan busily working, her thoughts drifting.

If anyone came looking for trouble… she could just eat them.

“You, when are you planning to move? Won’t your parents help you?”

“I lied. I don’t have a home to move from.”

Clang—

The box in Bai Yuan’s hands slipped and fell to the floor.

She froze, staring blankly at You.

“…Why did you lie to me?”

Her eyes reddened slightly. They had just agreed to be friends—yet she had already been deceived.

“I didn’t lie. I really am moving next door. I just don’t have anything to move.”

“Ah? Oh… I get it now. You’re not from Wil City, right? But didn’t you bring any luggage when you transferred?”

It took Bai Yuan a moment to process it all.

“I’m not. My luggage was taken by someone on the way.”

You calmly shifted the blame to “someone else.” As for what humans actually needed—she had no idea. She had left everything to her subordinates.

“Oh, and I don’t have parents either. So don’t ask.”

She cut Bai Yuan off before she could continue.

“Oh… so you basically have nothing right now? Not even feather coins?”

Bai Yuan’s face paled slightly, worried she had touched on something sensitive.

“I don’t have those.”

Feather coins were human currency. If she wanted them, she could easily have her subordinates deliver piles of it.

“Then… haven’t you been starving for days?”

Bai Yuan was shocked. You’s situation sounded as miserable as her own.

“…Now that you mention it, it has been a while since I last ate.”

The Abyss had been quiet lately. She hadn’t devoured anything for some time.

“Dinner’s ready~! You two lazy bums, come out and eat!”

Mo Xiao’s voice came from outside, along with the aroma of food.

“Perfect timing. Come eat with us.”

Bai Yuan looked at You with sympathy. Beaten up, no food, no home—she really seemed pitiful.

“Sure. You did say you’d treat me to a meal. But… does your spirit always talk to you like that?”

You stepped down from the bed, still wearing the fluffy white slippers.

“She usually calls me ‘useless’ all the time. No idea where she picked that up…”

Bai Yuan muttered gloomily as she walked out. But when she saw the three dishes and a soup Mo Xiao had prepared, she instantly forgave her.

“Mo Xiao, your cooking is amazing! I’ve never even seen you learn—how are you this good?”

“Hmph. Definitely not from learning it from my useless master.”

Bai Yuan could cook—but only at a barely edible level.

Mo Xiao had tried it once… and never let her cook again.

You didn’t say anything, just quietly ate.

Human food… wasn’t bad.

Though it had almost no energy for her—it barely counted as a snack.

Meanwhile, in the spiritual materials shop, Yilian lay on her bed.

After their last fight, her injuries hadn’t fully healed before she was beaten again. Now she was bruised all over, with another broken leg.

“That damn shorty… how ridiculous. A violent maniac talking about protecting others? I’d like to see how you manage that.”

She had no intention of fighting You again for now.

Before her, a light screen displayed the scene of Bai Yuan and the others eating together.

She watched silently, a mocking smile forming.

That poor girl had no idea—

The one sitting at the table with them…

was the very source of all disasters.

After staring for a while, Yilian expressionlessly waved her hand, dispersing the screen.
