He already knew what Team Leader Yang had said was nonsense. Seeing someone off when leaving for work, welcoming them back when they returned, there was no way a mere servant could order something like that.
No matter how self-indulgent Chae Woo-seok was, he wasn’t the type to like such empty formalities.
“…I just thought you might be coming home soon.”
“So you were waiting outside?”
Still, words had a strange power. If he hadn’t heard it, he wouldn’t have cared, but once he did, it lingered in his mind. So he had come out to confirm that he wouldn’t take any detours and would come straight home.
To be precise, he was sitting on a low wall that reached up to his waist.
“I wasn’t waiting on purpose! I was just… taking a walk and happened to sit here for a bit!”
“A walk? In that outfit?”
Chae Woo-seok’s gaze swept over Ha-jin from head to toe. Black backless loafers, wide pants with no elasticity whatsoever, a shirt that looked like it would trap every bit of sweat, and a tied accent belt across his waist.
On top of that, his hair looked slightly styled as if he’d done something to it. No matter how you looked at it, it wasn’t clothing suited for a walk.
“I mean… just… over there… a little bit…”
He had walked. Just not in any meaningful way. Sitting still made him anxious, so he had paced around this area without even realizing it. Whether that could be called a “walk” was questionable.
“…Fine. Whatever. Let’s go inside.”
Watching Woo-seok laugh lightly as he walked in, Ha-jin wondered if he had been wrong. Maybe Team Leader Yang’s words weren’t nonsense after all.
Just standing outside waiting had already made him look pleased, maybe Woo-seok actually liked this kind of meaningless courtesy.
“Did you eat dinner?”
“Is there even anything to eat? I don’t really eat at home anyway.”
“…Right. I guess you wouldn’t want to.”
If he had to sit through that uncomfortable dining atmosphere, starving felt better. Besides, Woo-seok had lived in the main house before marriage, with that… Chae Il-joo, Lee Ah-seong, and Chae Jae-yi.
After marriage, they had merely given him another building. If that was the combination, losing one’s appetite was the normal reaction.
“Wait here.”
He had worked Team Leader Yang hard. Made him redo the laundry. Called all the house staff to prepare a meal. He didn’t want to go to the neighboring house, meaning Lee Ah-seong’s place, every time he ate. Naturally, Ha-jin did nothing except list what he wanted.
“Sit down. The soup just needs reheating.”
“When did you even make all this?”
“What… is cooking even that complicated?”
Strangely, he didn’t want to say that Yang had made it. Since he was technically the one who ordered it, he just decided to say he made it himself. Not that Woo-seok would believe he cooked all of this alone anyway.
“What are you doing?”
“Eating.”
“Serve the rice.”
Sigh. “My husband works hard all day and I still have to serve myself,” a ridiculous complaint rose up, but he did it anyway. At least Chae Woo-seok was far more tolerable than the rest of that family.
Compared to them, he treated Ha-jin like a human being. Well… except for occasionally threatening to kill him.
“Anything happen today?”
“You probably already know.”
They sat across from each other and ate. Woo-seok’s informants likely already reported everything. Still, Ha-jin needed some form of conversation, so he summarized the day.
By the time he finished talking, the meal had stretched far longer than expected.
“So that’s what happened.”
“By the way… what’s that secret about that woman?”
“…”
Even Woo-seok hesitated. Secrets became more valuable the fewer people knew them. But for some reason, it felt like it would be fine to tell him.
“Want to hear something surprising?”
“I don’t get surprised easily.”
“That team leader is Chae Il-joo’s person. Reporting everything to your father. Even behind his back.”
For a moment, Woo-seok’s expression shifted.
Even he hadn’t expected that. A house where no one could be trusted, he knew that better than anyone, but even Team Leader Yang?
“Good information. But is it reliable?”
“Do I look like someone who lies…?”
“Last time you sold me information saying I had erectile dysfunction.”
“…”
Fair point.
Still, this time he had proof, call logs, messages. If necessary, he could hand them over to Lee Ah-seong.
“Haa… I’m full. I’ll shower first.”
Right. Only then did Ha-jin remember.
He had already showered, already brushed his teeth three times… and yet he had eaten again.
Should he shower again? Did he smell like food? His hair?
Then it hit him.
Tonight was that night.
No, actually, right now. Very soon.
He rushed into another bathroom, brushed his teeth a fourth time, cleaned up the table, changed clothes, and entered the bedroom.
His heart was already pounding uncontrollably. His feet wouldn’t stay still. He bit his lip, then released it again.
It’s just s*x. Just something he had seen countless times in videos. Nothing special.
He had to keep telling himself that.
The door opened.
“…What is this? Why are there candles?”
Woo-seok froze in place.
The room was dimly lit with scattered candles and low lighting. And there was Ha-jin, stiffly sitting on the bed.
“Oh.”
He realized immediately.
So this bastard really hated it, yet went through all this preparation.
The outfit earlier, the waiting outside, it all made sense now.
“Didn’t expect you to like this kind of atmosphere. I’ll keep it in mind.”
He tossed his towel aside and sat next to him.
The bed barely moved, but Ha-jin stiffened noticeably.
“Don’t overreact. It’s not your first time, is it?”
“…Just hurry up!”
Even in the dim light, his flushed face was obvious.
So Woo-seok didn’t hurry.
Because whenever he acted like this, it made him want to tease him more.
He had thought about it too.
If he hadn’t said anything… if he hadn’t acted like this… things would’ve been simpler.
But now that he had imagined it, now that the idea of Ha-jin in bed with him had taken root, he couldn’t shake it off.
It kept intruding.
“You’re acting more nervous than someone doing this for the first time.”
Ha-jin kept repeating to himself,
‘This is duty. This is necessary. This is-’
But the moment Woo-seok’s hand slid along his waist and warm breath brushed his neck, his thoughts stopped.
Everything went silent.
When lips touched his skin, it felt like an electric shock.
When fingers traced his waist and his shirt buttons were undone one by one, reality blurred.
“W-wait… ngh…”
Before he knew it, Woo-seok bit down on his neck hard enough to hurt.
Pain.
But not just pain.
A strange sensation followed.
His shirt opened, exposing his chest, and Woo-seok’s lips moved lower, marking him again and again.
“Your body… is quite omega-like.”
