Chapter 8: Pretending to be a Good Person

Liu Qiu was unbearably clingy, leaving Bai Qingqing unable to pull away.

They did it everywhere— the bedroom, the kitchen, the living room—leaving no place untouched.

The heat in Liu Qiu’s body never subsided.
Her skin was scorching, and the heat inside burned even more fiercely.

To prevent Liu Qiu from dehydrating and fainting, Bai Qingqing used spells to guide water directly into her mouth.

She was a demon; no matter what, her body wouldn’t break down.
But Liu Qiu was human.

Bai Qingqing stared at the swollen, tightly pressed-together place before her, fingers forming a spell seal.
The redness and swelling slowly faded.

Every single time, she had to use her demonic power to heal Liu Qiu’s body.

Liu Qiu leaned over again, sticky and soft, circling behind her to bite at the back of her neck.

This was an alpha’s instinctive marking behavior.
Yet Bai Qingqing wasn’t even a beta—she didn’t have glands at all.

“W-wife… I—I feel so bad.”
Liu Qiu’s lips pressed against the cool nape of her neck as she spoke softly, her voice hoarse beyond recognition.

This was the sentence Bai Qingqing had heard the most.
I feel so bad.

Liu Qiu seemed impossible to satisfy.

Bai Qingqing panted lightly, turning over and letting Liu Qiu sit astride her snake tail.

Liu Qiu whimpered pitifully.
“Wife.”
Her puppy-like eyes were always wet, glistening with tears.
Her pale cheeks were flushed red, tears constantly falling in grievance.

Bai Qingqing’s upturned eyes brimmed with spring desire.
Set within her eye sockets were ruby-like crimson vertical pupils—demonic, gorgeous, and alluring.

“Liu Qiu, you’re far too lewd.”

She had thought Liu Qiu dull and wooden, never imagining she’d be this captivating in bed— so enticing that Bai Qingqing wanted to swallow her whole.

Bai Qingqing reached out and pressed against Liu Qiu’s slightly protruding abdomen, red lips breathing out a stream of hot air.

“Liu Qiu, are you really an alpha?”

Liu Qiu couldn’t respond.
She thrust out her chest, her waist hollowing as a taut line stretched from her hips to her neck and shoulders—beautiful and seductive.

Her hands braced on the bed, fingers clenched tightly into the damp sheets.
Her eyes were completely unfocused, devoid of light.
Pale pink lips were slick with moisture, crystal clear.

“Wife… ah—wife—”

Bai Qingqing laughed softly.
“Qiuqiu, it’s a good thing you’re an alpha and can’t get pregnant.”

Although she possessed the ability to make someone pregnant,
in this world, alphas without a pregnancy cavity couldn’t conceive.

Even as a demon, she likely couldn’t make an alpha pregnant.

A full week passed before the heat in Liu Qiu’s body finally subsided, and she stopped crying about feeling unwell.

And over that same week, Bai Qingqing’s own heat was resolved as well.

Liu Qiu fell completely unconscious, eyes shut tight, sleeping deeply.
Her soft, pale face was flushed pink, with long lashes and small lips— an especially tender-looking face.

Bai Qingqing used spells to clean Liu Qiu thoroughly.
She had no intention of erasing Liu Qiu’s memories.

She loved doing it with Liu Qiu, loved every reaction Liu Qiu showed in bed.
Liu Qiu loved her so much— if she woke up and realized they had slept together, she’d probably be so excited she’d go crazy.

Liu Qiu would come to her on her own.

Bai Qingqing dressed herself, glanced at the pitch-black night outside, and vanished in an instant.

Morning came as the sun slowly rose.
Liu Qiu gradually opened her eyes, her head feeling like a rusted machine— it lagged for a long while before she could think.

Huh?
Wasn’t she drinking with Bai Qingqing and Shi Ran?
Who was kind enough to put her in bed?

Liu Qiu rolled over, only then realizing how exhausted her body felt.
Was this what a hangover was like?
Her body felt as if it had been filled with cement.

[Yo-ho, Host, you’re finally awake.
Your butt was about to get sunburned.]
The system’s voice rang out in her head.

Liu Qiu covered her throbbing head and sat up.

[System, did anything happen between Bai Qingqing and Shi Ran last night?]

[Did the cuckold value increase?]

The system fell silent for a moment before replying.
[Dear Host, the cuckold value didn’t increase at all.
Also, it’s been a week.]

Liu Qiu’s eyes flew open.
[What?! A week later?!]

The system chuckled.
[You fell asleep during your heat.
Thankfully, your wife gave you suppressants so you could sleep peacefully.]
The system concealed the truth—it was afraid the host would be traumatized.

Could it say it had watched mosaic censorship for an entire week?

Liu Qiu let out a blank “ah.”
She’d gone into heat, yet her mind was completely empty.

Seeing her confusion, the system explained:
[You lose consciousness during heat.
No need to worry.]

[And remember—don’t bring this up to your wife.]

[When your wife mentions it, try to change the subject.]
[I’m doing this for your own good.]
The system’s tone grew particularly meaningful toward the end.

Liu Qiu nodded.
In this world, she and the system were essentially one entity, so what the system said was probably true.

She really felt she needed to study this world’s genders more seriously.
Why was there even a heat cycle?
It sounded like animals.

But since the system said so, Liu Qiu immediately pushed it out of her mind.
She found her phone and checked the time—eight in the morning.

She climbed out of bed and dragged her heavy steps toward the bathroom.

[System… do I still have my job?]
Liu Qiu asked cautiously.
She was afraid she’d lost someone else’s job.

The system replied:
[It’s still there. Your wife took a week of leave for you. Today just happens to be your first day back.]

Hearing that, Liu Qiu finally relaxed a little.
She needed to hurry and get ready.

After cleaning up, Liu Qiu headed to the living room.
She was still wearing a plaid shirt and ordinary wide-leg jeans.

Her hair was curly, and thick black-framed glasses covered most of her face, the heavy lenses making her eyes look much smaller.

Dowdy and gloomy.

Bai Qingqing happened to set the reheated buns on the table.
Seeing Liu Qiu standing nearby, she curved her red lips into a gentle smile.

“Qiuqiu, why are you still standing there?”

Liu Qiu evaluated Bai Qingqing in her mind.
Nothing seemed abnormal.

There were no strange marks on her neck or hands.
Her voice wasn’t hoarse either.
It seemed Bai Qingqing and Shi Ran really hadn’t done anything.

Her mission progress was still only three percent.

Liu Qiu walked over slowly and showed a small smile, dimples faintly visible.
“Good morning, wife.” Then she sat down.

Bai Qingqing pulled out a chair and sat across from her, beautiful eyes slightly curved, irresistibly alluring.

Liu Qiu felt awkward.
Being stared at while eating really ruined one’s appetite, so she could only lower her head and eat quietly.

Just as she was about to finish, she suddenly felt something brush against her leg.
Liu Qiu slowly lifted her head and looked at Bai Qingqing.

Bai Qingqing’s eyes were sultry, her red lips curved into a beautiful smile.
Her voice carried a hint of hoarseness—exceptionally sexy and teasing.

“Qiuqiu, don’t you have something you want to say?”

Liu Qiu thought for a moment and cautiously replied,
“Wife… next time, could we not have sweet buns?” They’re too cloying.

Bai Qingqing withdrew her smile, clasped her hands beneath her chin, and cursed Liu Qiu internally for being an idiot.

Her flirting was this obvious, yet Liu Qiu still couldn’t tell.

Bai Qingqing asked again,
“Qiuqiu, do you remember what happened during this past week?”

Liu Qiu swallowed the last bite of bun.
She remembered the system telling her to change the subject, but she truly remembered nothing.

After thinking for a moment, she answered honestly,
“I don’t remember anything.”

Bai Qingqing frowned slightly.
“Don’t remember anything at all?”

Liu Qiu nodded, fingers nervously twisting together.
“D-did I do something that made you angry?” She looked like a rabbit cornered—genuinely afraid of upsetting her.

Bai Qingqing laughed softly.
“No. Go to work.”

Liu Qiu nodded blankly and turned toward the door, completely unaware that the moment she turned her back, Bai Qingqing’s gaze turned cold.

On the stairs, Liu Qiu ran into Shi Ran.

[This target is really hopeless—given a chance and she doesn’t even take it!]
The system complained noisily, sounding deeply disappointed.

Liu Qiu thought so too.
The legal wife had been drunk out of her mind, yet Shi Ran hadn’t made a move.
She’d even thought more highly of Shi Ran than Song Ciyu.

Liu Qiu adjusted the strap of her shoulder bag, pressed her lips together lightly, and greeted softly,
“Shi Ran.”
They had drunk together after all— saying hello wouldn’t break the original character setting, right?

Liu Qiu looked at Shi Ran and noticed her expression was awful, as if she deeply despised interacting with her.

Liu Qiu lowered her lashes and dipped her head, intending to go around Shi Ran.

But as she drew close, Shi Ran suddenly stepped backward.
They were on the stairs.
Shi Ran’s movement caused her foot to slip, her body falling backward.

Liu Qiu’s eyes widened in shock.
She instinctively reached out to grab Shi Ran.

But in the next instant, Shi Ran grabbed the railing and steadied herself.
Instead, Liu Qiu’s forward momentum made her stumble ahead— straight into Shi Ran’s arms.

Shi Ran let out a muffled grunt and caught Liu Qiu firmly.

The body in her arms was thin and light.
One hand could wrap around most of her waist.

Her heartbeat pounded violently against her eardrums.
Shi Ran abruptly pushed Liu Qiu away.

Liu Qiu didn’t have time to steady herself.
With that shove, she fell back and landed hard on the stairs, hands braced against the concrete, scraped painfully.

Her heavy body took the full impact.

Liu Qiu frowned and looked up at Shi Ran, her voice small and faintly trembling.
“Shi… Shi Ran.”

Shi Ran clenched her fists and shouted, “Don’t act like I bullied you!”

“You’re the one who pounced on me!”
Her pretty face was flushed red, expression tightly drawn.

The moment she saw Liu Qiu, she thought of what had happened that day.

Liu Qiu pinned to the dining table by a beta.
Long legs hoisted high, her body rocking uncontrollably.

Her misty eyes unfocused, like intoxicating liquor— just looking at her made one dizzy.

Her pale cheeks were flushed, pale pink lips slick with moisture, low, hoarse moans spilling out as she looked at her and asked— “Are you going to examine me too?”

Shi Ran knew she had fled in panic back then.
She couldn’t accept that an alpha could be that seductive.

A face so soft and innocent, yet making the most provocative expressions.

Cluelessly pinned down, performing an explicit scene right in front of her.

Shi Ran stared at Liu Qiu, almost grinding her teeth.
“Don’t touch me so casually.”

Liu Qiu lowered her head silently, looking small and pitiful.
In truth, she was complaining to the system.

[System, looks like drinking together doesn’t mean the relationship improves.]

System:
[Correct.
This target hates you even more now.]

The system added:
[You can act pitiful and invite the target to your place.]

[Do it a few more times and the cuckold value might increase. Next time, just lock yourself in your room.]

The system always came up with terrible ideas,
but Liu Qiu couldn’t think of anything better either.

“I’m sorry… I—I just thought you were about to fall.” Liu Qiu stood up and said weakly,
“I didn’t mean to touch you.”

Shi Ran’s breathing stalled.
She brushed past Liu Qiu without looking back and left.

Liu Qiu was left standing there, utterly confused.

She lingered for a moment before realizing she was on her way to work.
She pushed the incident out of her mind and hurried off.

Meanwhile, as Shi Ran rounded the corner of the stairwell, she ran into an unexpected person—
Bai Qingqing.

Bai Qingqing smiled brightly, her stunning face naturally alluring.
Her voice was gentle and pleasant.

“Miss Shi.”

Shi Ran stiffened and returned a strained smile.
“Miss Bai.”

Bai Qingqing glanced toward where Shi Ran and Liu Qiu had just argued.
“It seems Miss Shi really dislikes my Qiuqiu.”

Following Bai Qingqing’s gaze, Shi Ran realized that from this spot,
everything that had just happened was clearly visible.

“May I ask what happened?” Bai Qingqing’s innocent expression made Shi Ran find it laughable.

Bai Qingqing definitely knew she hadn’t been drunk.
Her panicked escape—wasn’t that obvious enough?
And now she was pretending to be clueless.

Shi Ran put on a polite smile.
“Nothing happened.”

Bai Qingqing covered her lips and chuckled.
“If Qiuqiu did something wrong, I apologize to you on her behalf.”

“And although I enjoyed drinking with Miss Shi, I don’t hope for a second time.”

Shi Ran looked deeply at Bai Qingqing.
Through the shallow smile on the surface,
she saw the chill buried deep in Bai Qingqing’s eyes.

Shi Ran lowered her lashes, sneering inwardly.
Anyone unaware would think this beta loved Liu Qiu dearly.

Standing silently to the side, watching Liu Qiu get shoved to the ground— a sinister, venomous snake.

And now she was playing the good person again.
