Gazing at the devastating blow Su Liyue had unleashed upon the Armored Dragon Turtle, Mu Wanqing’s eyes widened in astonishment.
“Heavens! Yueyue, what kind of fire magic is that? The damage is utterly outrageous! It even blasted a crater into the Armored Dragon Turtle’s shell!”
“It’s a fusion of fire and water magic,” Su Liyue quickly explained, her staff already glowing once more. “Qingqing, quickly use water-element freezing magic to freeze its injured areas!”
Mu Wanqing didn’t even have time to ponder Su Liyue’s explanation of fire and water magic fusion.
“The injured areas? But wouldn’t that cool down the wounds you just created? Water and fire are opposing elements, let alone ice…”
“Trust me,” Su Liyue’s gaze was resolute, “its shell is too tough. This is the only way to break through its defense.”
“A-alright then…” Mu Wanqing no longer hesitated, her staff swiftly casting a spell.
“Ice Binding!”
With her soft incantation, the charred indentation on the Armored Dragon Turtle’s back instantly became coated in a thick layer of frost, emitting a crisp cracking sound.
Ye Xingchen felt the tremors radiating through his shield, silently calculating its remaining durability.
Relying solely on such attacks, it would be too difficult to defeat the Armored Dragon Turtle, renowned for its defense.
Moreover, this hastily assembled shield already bore cracks, and wouldn’t last much longer.
They had to finish this quickly, as the recent explosion had likely attracted other teams, and even nearby magical beasts.
Even more troubling, the academy was undoubtedly monitoring this Gold-tier magical beast closely.
If the shield shattered, he couldn’t possibly endure the impact with his bare body… The recoil from such a blow would likely directly kill this poor magical beast.
While the alternating ice and fire could indeed weaken the Dragon Turtle’s defenses, the two girls were, after all, only apprentice mages, with limited magical power.
Otherwise, that previous strike alone would have been enough to utterly shatter its shell.
Considering this, Ye Xingchen subtly shifted his feet, silently activating the Qimen Plate’s ‘Li Fire Palace, Tianfu Star’ (TL Note: Qimen Dunjia is an ancient Chinese divination method. Li Fire Palace represents the element of fire and geographical advantage. Tianfu Star represents the element of wood and celestial timing, often associated with assistance and growth).
A barely perceptible crimson aura quietly enveloped Su Liyue’s feet.
Su Liyue immediately felt a surge of scorching energy flow into her body.
The Li Palace belonged to fire, symbolizing geographical advantage; the Tianfu Star belonged to wood and was an auxiliary star, representing celestial timing.
Wood nourishes fire, and at this moment, the Tianfu Star’s energy within the Li Fire Palace had reached its peak, providing an unparalleled amplification for her fire magic.
Before that, however, the Armored Dragon Turtle’s movements had to be restricted.
A sharp glint flashed in Su Liyue’s eyes, and she lightly tapped her staff:
“Wind Breath Manipulation!”
An invisible current of air coiled around the Dragon Turtle’s head, precisely siphoning away the oxygen around its nostrils, while simultaneously concentrating high levels of carbon dioxide.
Soon, the Armored Dragon Turtle’s movements visibly slowed, and its fierce eyes began to glaze over.
What a pity, if her current strength were sufficient, she could simply drain all the surrounding oxygen directly, without needing such troublesome preparations for a fire combo.
However, now, with the Qimen enchantment from her male form, the next strike should be enough…
Su Liyue’s silver-white hair stirred without a breeze amid the surging spiritual energy, as the magic crystal atop her staff blazed with dazzling crimson light.
The telluric power of the Li Fire Palace and the starlight of the Tianfu Star intertwined beneath her feet, forming a swirling magic array, and the air within a ten-meter radius shimmered with distortion from the intense heat.
As she chanted the incantation, the condensing fireball expanded at a visible rate, its diameter abruptly growing from half a meter to over two meters, while the pulsating flame core at its heart glowed with an eerie bluish-white hue.
“Hydrogen-oxygen ratio 3:1…” she murmured the chemical formula to herself, her pupils reflecting Ye Xingchen’s ongoing decomposition of water elements.
Countless tiny bubbles rose from the base of her staff, forming a shimmering liquid ring around the fireball’s periphery.
These water molecules, forcibly disassembled by alchemy, were violently surging in gaseous form, awaiting reassembly.
“Go!”
With Su Liyue’s clear cry, the colossal fireball hurtled forth, trailing a comet-like tail of flames.
In the third second of its flight, the outer water ring suddenly vaporized, releasing copious amounts of hydrogen and oxygen.
These highly reactive gases, upon immediate contact with the fireball, instantly triggered a chain reaction!
Boom!!!
The mushroom cloud generated by the explosion soared ten meters high, and the shockwave uprooted bushes within a thirty-meter radius.
Ye Xingchen’s robes flapped wildly in the gale, his left hand maintaining a spiritual energy shield, while his right hand subtly formed a spell seal.
Three invisible spiritual energy shields precisely manifested before the two girls, ensuring they wouldn’t be swept away by the concussive blast.
The Armored Dragon Turtle let out a pained shriek, and across the surface of its proud golden shell, spiderweb cracks furiously spread outwards from the epicenter of the explosion.
Its bony plates, long fortified by hard earth elements, now peeled away in layers like damp biscuits, revealing the pink dermis beneath.
Most fatally, a basin-sized section of its shell had completely shattered, exposing its convulsing internal organs.
“Now!” A flash of green light flickered from Su Liyue’s fingertips.
The wind elements, already hovering near the Dragon Turtle’s head, immediately swirled, funneling the pre-prepared hydrogen-oxygen mixture into its gaping maw.
Ye Xingchen, with practiced coordination, flicked out a cluster of ethereal blue flames; this highly compressed spiritual flame, no larger than a mung bean, yet contained a terrifying temperature.
As the Dragon Turtle instinctively clamped its jaw shut, its sealed oral cavity instantly reached the critical point for explosion.
From the outside, one could clearly see its swollen head suddenly glow red, followed by a muffled bang.
Bang!
Amidst the dull thud, the Dragon Turtle’s head violently inflated like an over-pressurized ball.
Flames erupted simultaneously from all seven of its orifices, and even its eyeballs burst under the immense pressure.
Its furiously flailing foreclaws gouged trenches several meters deep into the ground, but its body, covered in shattered shell fragments, was firmly wedged in the rock crevice like an overturned bowl.
With a final spasm, the enormous behemoth finally collapsed.
Smoke curled from its wide-open mouth, its tongue long carbonized to an ash-black.
Most ironically, its once-protective golden shell now served as a fatal cage, its sharp-edged fragments deeply embedded in its flesh, with body fluids oozing from the wounds to form a small, foul-smelling puddle beneath it.
“H-heavens! Yueyue, you call this apprentice magic? The power is almost comparable to a mentor’s Blazing Inferno! The opposition of water and fire is a fundamental magical theory, how could you…”
Mu Wanqing felt her worldview shattered once more; her best friend’s strength was not just formidable, but utterly unfathomable!
