Join the ServerSoon, Fire Element Instructor Li Mao arrived to lead the class.
When he didn’t see Su Liyue, who should have been present, his brow furrowed involuntarily.
After all, as the element with the highest burst damage among the four, it stood to reason that the academy’s only omni-element prodigy would prioritize fire magic. Yet, contrary to expectations, Ye Xingchen—an attribute-less student—had actually come to the fire class? This baffling move left him thoroughly puzzled.
Could it be that the rumor about Su Liyue taking sick leave today was true?
But the academy was equipped with a top-tier team of healers—what illness could require her to rest at home? This genius girl was truly capricious.
Moreover, besides Su Liyue and Ye Xingchen, there was another person in the class who drew his special attention: Li Yunxin.
This girl had made a name for herself in practical training by killing a Gold-tier magical beast. With such strength, and having hidden it for so long, she was clearly no simple character.
As for Liu Yuxuan beside her—a student only slightly stronger than the bottom-ranked Ye Xingchen—he was simply ignored.
Instructor Li Mao clasped his hands behind his back and swept his piercing gaze across the room:
“From today onward, grade division no longer matters. Strength is the only standard. I assume you all are aware of the upcoming practical ranking competition?”
The students nodded in unison. The classroom was filled with a tense yet expectant atmosphere.
“Very good! Those who chose the fire element course must have come for the strongest offensive magic. Congratulations—you’ve chosen the right direction! But the essence of fire magic lies in…”
He suddenly waved his wand.
“Practical combat! Only in battle can you truly grasp the savage nature of flame.”
With that, he cast a meaningful glance at Ye Xingchen:
“Of course, practical classes inevitably carry risks… It’s not too late to withdraw now.”
Ye Xingchen naturally understood Instructor Li Mao’s implication.
But after all, he was here to attend the class for Su Liyue’s female form, and this first fire element class of the practical course was a crucial point among the four elements. It was essential for his understanding of fire magic.
So regardless of the outcome, since Su Liyue herself couldn’t come, he certainly couldn’t be absent.
Moreover, his knowledge was connected with Su Liyue’s. Although his male form had no magical talent, combining his past life experiences with years of study and insight at the academy, his understanding of fire magic was by no means inferior.
Seeing that Ye Xingchen had no intention of withdrawing, Instructor Li Mao, as his teacher, naturally had no reason to forcibly drive him away.
“Since no one is withdrawing, let’s begin the class!”
The students followed the instructor to the fire element training ground. The entire field was made of magic-resistant obsidian, and the surroundings were still marked by scorched black burn traces.
“As a fire element instructor, I can tell you responsibly that fire magic can not only pair with wind and earth elements to boost overall magical damage, but even among the four elements, it has the strongest burst power. So if you master fire magic, I can’t guarantee anything else, but at least in terms of attack, you hold the advantage!”
As he spoke, Li Mao waved his wand. As a Great Mage, he casually cast a Fireball spell.
A crimson fireball shot forth.
The fireball swelled in the wind, and the moment it struck the target, it transformed into a towering wave of flame, devouring the entire target, leaving not even ashes behind.
“Remember! The main strength of fire magic lies in its burst power and damage! Before absolute firepower, there is no room for fancy tricks. Even the most basic Fireball spell, when mastered to the extreme, can burn mountains and boil seas!”
Upon hearing this, the students’ blood boiled with excitement.
The advantage of fire magic in ranking matches was self-evident. As long as one wasn’t unlucky enough to encounter a water element opponent, they had essentially half a foot in the door of victory.
“Now pair up for practical practice. Remember, this is training, not combat.”
Suddenly, a crimson ring of flame rose around him, and the temperature in the room skyrocketed.
“If anyone deliberately harms others… my punishment will not be as courteous as my name!”
Hearing this, Xiao Yun, who had been looking for a chance to teach Ye Xingchen a lesson, had to temporarily restrain his intentions. The flame between his fingers extinguished.
He glanced at Ye Xingchen beside Li Yunxin and withdrew his palm.
Now was not the time.
