Yet, just as he was on the verge of defeating Hua Mu’ai, a phantom-like figure suddenly vaulted over the adjacent wall.
It was the Blade of Shadows; Chu Yuyao had arrived!
Her Q skill, ‘Cold-blooded Diplomacy,’ instantly propelled her towards Lava Golem, followed by her W skill, ‘Root Out,’ which slowed him, executing a seamless, fluid combo.
A significant portion of Lava Golem’s health bar vanished in an instant.
Hua Mu’ai, having also reacted, coordinated with Chu Yuyao’s relentless assault, unleashing a flurry of auto-attacks.
“You have slain an enemy!”
The colossal body of Lava Golem crashed to the ground with a resounding thud.
“Well done!” Hua Mu’ai exclaimed, unable to contain her excitement.
Over the next few minutes, the top lane transformed into an absolute nightmare for Lava Golem.
Chu Yuyao’s Blade of Shadows seemed to have taken up residence in the top lane, materializing from the most cunning angles at the most unforeseen moments.
The third time.
The fourth time.
By the fifth time Lava Golem’s screen faded to black and white, his resolve had utterly crumbled.
“Wow, your jungler is absolutely insane!” Hua Mu’ai gushed excitedly. “You’re practically a jungle god! Truly incredible!”
Receiving such direct praise, Chu Yuyao’s cheeks flushed a delicate crimson, and the corners of her lips curled upward in an involuntary, shy smile.
His morale utterly shattered by the repeated ganks, Lava Golem finally snapped, unleashing a torrent of abuse directly into the public chat.
[All] Tower’s Son Lava Golem: That top laner—
[All] Tower’s Son Lava Golem: Is trash!
[All] Tower’s Son Lava Golem: You coward!
[All] Tower’s Son Lava Golem: Got the guts for a 1v1? Or do you just cry for help?
[All] Tower’s Son Lava Golem: And that jungler, is all you know how to do gank top? You’re nothing but a—
[All] Tower’s Son Lava Golem: F
[All] Tower’s Son Lava Golem: W
Hua Mu’ai instantly bristled with indignation.
She could endure insults directed at herself, but slandering her ‘jungle dad’ was an entirely different matter!
She swiftly switched her input method, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she unleashed a torrent of ‘national essence’ — a flurry of expletives.
However, the meticulously crafted insults remained unsent.
“Damn it all!” Hua Mu’ai fumed, tempted to smash her keyboard. “How can this wretched game censor even curses?!”
“Um…” Chu Yuyao gently interjected from beside her, “Offensive words… you have to send them in two separate messages, and use homophones or pinyin.”
“Hmm?” Hua Mu’ai, her skepticism evident, tried splitting a single character into two pinyin letters before sending it.
[All] Your Bro I’m Fierce Wind Swordsman: sha
[All] Your Bro I’m Fierce Wind Swordsman: bi
It worked!
Hua Mu’ai’s eyes lit up with surprise, and she couldn’t help but turn to Chu Yuyao. “Alright, you! You certainly know a lot!”
Praised repeatedly by the pink-haired beauty Hua Mu’ai, Chu Yuyao’s face deepened in crimson, and she lowered her gaze, too shy to meet her eyes.
Despite the significant advantage secured in the top lane, the overall trajectory of the game remained far from optimistic.
The opposing jungler seemed to have abandoned the top lane entirely, instead focusing their relentless aggression on the bottom lane, allowing the enemy marksman to farm exceptionally well and secure a significant equipment lead.
Our bot lane duo had been utterly devastated.
[I LBW Didn’t Use Cheats] (Zeris): [We should] surrender, surrender. Bot lane has practically spawned a monster; this is unplayable.
[Legacy of Reverse Q] (Ice Empress): Does our jungler even know how to play? Never once have they come to bot lane!
Chu Yuyao, however, remained unfazed by her teammates’ complaints, calmly typing her response into the chat box.
[Flash to Nibble Tower Plating] (Blade of Shadows): Don’t panic; we can still turn this around.
With that, her Blade of Shadows vanished from the map.
Leveraging the wall-crossing capability of her E skill, ‘Assassin’s Path,’ Chu Yuyao’s Blade of Shadows exhibited an almost supernatural mobility, appearing and disappearing at will.
She moved like a phantom, weaving through every corner of the map.
Moments later, the enemy marksman, diligently pushing the bot lane, saw their screen abruptly plunge into darkness.
They hadn’t even registered how the attack had been launched.
The nearby support, startled, hastily placed a control ward, yet saw absolutely nothing.
The very next second, the Blade of Shadows emerged from the opposite side of the wall, unleashing another devastating combo that sent the support back to the fountain as well.
Double Kill!
The decisive final teamfight erupted within the Ancient Dragon pit.
Our team, hampered by a significant equipment disadvantage, was steadily forced into retreat, teetering on the brink of being completely annihilated.
In this desperate, hair-trigger moment, Chu Yuyao’s Blade of Shadows materialized.
Rather than engaging from the front, she expertly maneuvered to an extreme flank, utilizing the dragon pit’s walls to vault directly into the enemy’s backline!
Her target: the marksman, who boasted the best equipment.
The enemy marksman, startled, instantly expended their Flash ability, desperate to create distance.
However, Chu Yuyao’s reflexes proved swifter still!
She immediately unleashed an unexplainable combo: WQ Flash RA. (A sequence notoriously difficult to execute.)
The marksman’s health bar was instantly, utterly depleted!
Having eliminated the marksman, she exhibited not a flicker of hesitation, vaulting over the wall once more to evade the enemy mage’s crowd control ability, then swiftly countered with a combo of her own, dispatching them as well.
Double Kill!
The opposing support and top laner, in a frenzy, unleashed every single one of their abilities upon her.
Chu Yuyao calmly activated her Zhonya’s Hourglass, entering a golden, invulnerable state that allowed her to effortlessly shrug off a torrent of incoming damage.
The instant her invulnerability faded, she vaulted over the wall once more, repositioning herself with the grace of a fleeting phantom, dancing precariously on the edge of a blade.
The three remaining opponents seemed no more than clumsy, inert wooden dummies.
Triple Kill!
Quadra Kill!
In the blink of an eye, four enemy champions lay vanquished!
Only Lava Golem remained, the very one who had been incessantly clamoring in the public chat!
He watched the Blade of Shadows, a spectral blur hurtling towards him, and was so terrified his soul nearly fled his body. He hastily activated his recently cooled-down ultimate ability, desperate to escape.
Yet, the Blade of Shadows merely vaulted over the wall once more, landing with pinpoint accuracy directly onto Lava Golem’s escape path, securing the final kill with a decisive Q skill.
“Penta Kill!”
The colossal Penta Kill icon dominated the entire screen!
Immediately thereafter, the enemy team surrendered.
“Victory!”
As the word “Victory!” flashed across the screen, Hua Mu’ai stared blankly at Chu Yuyao beside her, utterly stunned and unable to fully process what had just transpired.
This seemingly quiet and timid girl, who struggled even to articulate her thoughts clearly, had, within the game, proven herself to be astonishingly powerful and incredibly reliable…
It was almost unfathomable that she was the same person.
“You…” Hua Mu’ai murmured, removing her headphones, her expression a complex mix of awe and bewilderment. “You were… absolutely ferocious just now.”
Chu Yuyao offered a soft laugh. “It was alright, I suppose. After all, this is one of my only two specialties.”
Following that, she habitually retrieved her old, well-worn phone and tapped open her email application.
Upon refreshing, her eyes abruptly lit up with a brilliant spark!
“Oh, my!”
She let out a soft gasp of delighted surprise.
Hua Mu’ai had initially intended to tease her for her sudden outburst, but the sight of Chu Yuyao’s expression sparked a flicker of curiosity within her.
“What’s gotten into you now? Did you win the lottery? You’re practically vibrating with excitement.”
“The preliminary auditions,” Chu Yuyao announced, “I passed.”
“What auditions?” Hua Mu’ai asked.
“It’s for… the ‘Sing with Tian Lanxing’ event. I… I get to participate in the live selection!”
A muscle in Hua Mu’ai’s cheek twitched involuntarily.
Her cheeks abruptly flushed scarlet.
‘Oh, for f*ck’s sake.’
‘Why does my idol’s identity keep popping up everywhere, like a persistent ghost?’
Chu Yuyao, completely oblivious to the sudden shift in the person beside her, was immersed in profound joy, bowing deeply to Hua Mu’ai.
“Thank you, today… thank you so much for today! I must go now, goodbye.”
