Join the ServerHe approached Gu Qing, and as though discarding refuse, violently slammed Lin Xiaolu onto the ground.
“Cough, cough, cough…”
Lin Xiaolu coughed violently, her transformed state dispelling with the exertion.
As a dark light flickered from the masked man’s hand, both of them succumbed to unconsciousness.
An indeterminate amount of time elapsed.
Gu Qing slowly regained consciousness, only to find himself securely bound to a chair, utterly unable to move.
The purification within his body was ninety-nine percent complete; with just a final touch, he would be able to transform into Azure Star.
“Senior, you’re awake!”
Lin Xiaolu’s voice, laced with a sob, reached his ears.
Gu Qing twisted his head, and by the dim light filtering through the window crack, he saw Lin Xiaolu tied to a chair not far away, her small face streaked with tears.
“Didn’t I tell you to run? Are you incapable of understanding human speech?”
Gu Qing’s voice was hoarse from weakness, yet his indignation remained undiminished.
“I’m sorry, Senior,” Lin Xiaolu’s tears welled up anew, “but I didn’t want to abandon a comrade, nor did I wish to hold you back any longer.”
She lifted her head, her eyes swimming with tears.
“I truly wish to follow in your footsteps, Senior.”
Those words made Gu Qing’s heart skip a beat.
He recalled a distant memory: Su Wanning, who had always boisterously followed behind him, proclaiming her desire to catch up and become the second Magical Girl.
Gu Qing’s heart softened, and his tone grew gentler.
“Alright, alright, I won’t blame you this time, will that suffice?”
Just then, the room was flooded with brilliant light.
The dazzling radiance caused both of them to instinctively narrow their eyes.
A familiar figure stepped in from the doorway.
“Oh my, oh my, are the two of you awake? The atmosphere between you seems rather pleasant, devoid of any fear.”
Upon recognizing the newcomer, both Gu Qing and Lin Xiaolu froze in astonishment.
It was none other than the Dean they had previously encountered in the conference room.
“It’s you?!” Lin Xiaolu exclaimed, her voice laced with disbelief and suspicion.
“Surprised?” He walked up to Lin Xiaolu, roughly pinching her chin as he chuckled sinisterly, “I recognized you as a Magical Girl long ago, you little brat.”
“As for you,” he turned to Gu Qing, his eyes glinting with avarice, “such a perfect Primal Gem, and the GSA actually dared to use you as bait.”
“What a foolish plan. Now that I’ve swallowed the bait whole, those incompetents at the GSA probably haven’t even realized what’s happened, have they?”
He let out a feigned sigh.
“What a pity, such remarkable talent. You would surely have become a powerful Magical Girl in the future. But now, you are destined to become a part of the Abyss.”
“Go to hell,” Gu Qing cursed.
“Still quite defiant, I see.”
The Dean showed no anger; instead, his smile only widened.
“No matter, what I enjoy most is witnessing someone slowly succumb to despair.” He licked his lips. “For only the deepest despair can cultivate the most exquisite fruits.”
As he spoke, he pulled a bead radiating a dark aura from his pocket, its surface intricately covered with purple patterns.
Gu Qing’s pupils abruptly constricted.
‘It’s the Seed of the Abyss!’
This artifact could corrupt a Magical Girl, transforming them into a ‘Witch’ consumed solely by destruction and slaughter.
Once successfully transformed, a Witch could never be reverted. They would lose their sense of self, their personalities twisted, and their abilities mutated by the Abyssification, ultimately standing as adversaries to humanity.
The Dean, clutching the Seed of the Abyss, advanced toward Lin Xiaolu, his face alight with fanaticism.
“Let’s start with her. I want you to witness your comrade’s descent into the Abyss with your own eyes.”
“Stop!”
Gu Qing roared.
‘The purification within him was still lacking that final touch; he had to buy time!’
As expected, the Dean halted, observing him with keen interest.
“Oh? It seems you understand the function of this item quite well?”
Gu Qing immediately adopted an expression of terror, tears springing forth instantly, his acting prowess rivaling that of a seasoned film emperor.
“Please… don’t hurt her…”
His voice trembled, laden with supplication.
“You can do anything you want to me, I beg you, just spare my friend.”
This pitiful display greatly appeased the Dean’s sadistic desires.
He paused his actions.
“Anything, you say? Is that truly so?”
He asked playfully, his gaze shamelessly roving over Lin Xiaolu’s delicate form, lingering particularly on her snowy white thighs.
Gu Qing suppressed his burgeoning nausea and continued his performance.
He then squeezed out two fresh streams of tears.
“Are you telling the truth? If I obey you, will you truly let her go?”
As he spoke, he gazed at the Dean with eyes brimming with ‘hope.’
“You must swear it! You have to promise me that you absolutely won’t harm her! Otherwise… otherwise, I’ll never agree, even if it costs me my life!”
This elaborate performance successfully fooled his adversary.
“Hahahaha!”
The Dean erupted in wild laughter, relishing the moment immensely.
“Swear? You are in no position to bargain with me right now.”
He paced over to Gu Qing, savoring the fear and struggle etched upon his face.
“However, seeing as you’re so utterly pathetic, I shall, in my great benevolence, grant you this tiny wish.”
He raised a hand, speaking with feigned solemnity: “I promise, as long as you are obedient, your comrade will live.”
Gu Qing’s shoulders trembled violently, and his tears streamed down even more profusely.
“C-could you… could you give me a moment to consider…”
“Hmph, my patience is limited. I’ll give you one more minute. Ponder this: your friend’s fate now rests entirely in your hands.”
While he could simply force the issue, he preferred a more willing cooperation.
A minute later.
[Abyssal energy completely purified.]
The terror and tears on Gu Qing’s face vanished in an instant.
He lifted his head and, facing the Dean who was poised to inquire about his decision, flashed a brilliant smile.
“f*ck, Grandpa merely played along with your act, and you actually took it seriously?”
The Dean was utterly dumbfounded.
He couldn’t comprehend how the girl who had been crying and begging for mercy just a second ago could so abruptly change her demeanor.
“You dare to trick me!”
“Indeed, it was precisely you, you foul dog, that I tricked.”
“Then prepare to regret this!” The Dean flew into a furious rage, raising the Seed of the Abyss and preparing to press it against Lin Xiaolu’s forehead.
But he had already run out of opportunities.
“Lunar Liberation!”
A brilliant azure light erupted with a thunderous roar, engulfing the entire room.
From within, a breathtaking figure clad in a blue gown slowly descended.
She was divine, mighty, and inviolable.
The Dean’s gaze met those azure eyes, which held the glimmer of cruciform stars, and the expression on his face morphed from bewilderment to profound shock, finally settling into bone-deep terror.
That was the legend etched into history books, lauded by innumerable souls!
“Az… Azure Star?! Impossible! How could you be Azure Star!”
He shrieked, his voice brimming with disbelief.
“No, even if you are Azure Star, what of it! If I can convert you into a Witch, I will become the organization’s greatest benefactor!”
The Dean, now blinded by madness, disregarded the god-like aura emanating from her and howled as he charged toward Azure Star.
Just as the Seed of the Abyss was about to touch Azure Star’s forehead.
She merely raised her hand and gently clenched it.
The space around the Dean shattered like a mirror, and a terrifying suction emanated from the cracks, threatening to drag him into the chaotic currents of spacetime.
“No, don’t!”
The terror of death shattered all his fanaticism and ambition; the smile vanished from his face, replaced only by the raw fear of a dying man.
“I was wrong, Lady Azure Star! Mercy, have mercy! I don’t want to die!”
