Join the ServerWedged between two women, Hua Mu’ai felt like her lifespan had shortened by years.
Unable to stand the battlefield of romance, she made an excuse and ran off to the Starflare base to find Chu Yuyao for some gaming refuge.
Nothing was safer than being around an internet addict girl!
Ten minutes later.
Victory flashed on the screen.
Thanks to Chu Yuyao’s masterful play, she secured a pentakill with a fluid combo even after all three lanes’ high ground were taken, turning the game around.
Hua Mu’ai leaned back in the gaming chair, feeling utterly elevated.
“Ah, that feels good. Carrying is always the best.”
Just then, the restroom door swung open. Intel Ji walked in holding a selfie stick, talking to her camera as she prepared to show fans the base’s interior.
The lens swept across and caught Chu Yuyao. She was standing up to get water from the cooler, her delicate side profile exposed on camera.
“Huh? Isn’t that…” Intel Ji paused, stopping abruptly.
The livestream chat exploded.
“Holy crap! That’s Chu Yuyao!”
“Running into little sister Chu! Sis, your luck is insane!”
“Go talk to her, I want to see Chu sister!”
Intel Ji waved at the camera.
“Folks, out of politeness, we can’t just film someone without permission. Let me ask first. I’ll turn off the stream for a bit. Be right back! Don’t go anywhere!”
She knew Chu Yuyao was a hot topic across the entire internet, carrying massive traffic. If she could get her to interact and open cards together, the stream would explode.
Intel Ji turned off her screen and quickly walked over.
“Hi! Are you little sister Chu?”
Chu Yuyao jumped at the sudden appearance of the stranger, nearly dropping her paper cup.
“Y-you… hello…” she stammered, avoiding eye contact.
Hua Mu’ai heard the commotion and rose alertly. Her petite frame instinctively stepped in front of Chu Yuyao, like a mother hen protecting her chick.
“Who are you?” Hua Mu’ai sized up the trendy woman, her tone sour.
Intel Ji flinched at the aura, quickly pulling her work badge from around her neck.
“No misunderstanding! I’m Magical Girl Intel Ji, a content creator. I’m here today to do a livestream opening for Tian Lanxing’s co-branded cards.”
She smiled ingratiatingly, trying to appear harmless.
“Little sister Chu, could I invite you and your friend to be on camera? We’ll open cards together, have some fun. And it’s Tian Lanxing-sama’s merchandise!”
Hearing about a livestream, Chu Yuyao waved her hands frantically.
“N-no thanks. I’m not good with words, and I stutter when nervous. I’ll definitely mess up your stream.”
Hua Mu’ai had initially wanted to drive her away.
How annoying. I finally found some peace to play games, and now I have to deal with some boring livestream?
But when she heard the name Intel Ji, her mind raced.
This woman seemed to be a big influencer with millions of followers, no small influence.
Chu Yuyao was hot now, but still unstable. A quick appearance on a high-traffic stream could win her a ton of goodwill, great for her upcoming matches.
With that thought, Hua Mu’ai sighed inwardly.
Fine, for this idiot’s future, I’ll reluctantly sacrifice myself.
She grabbed Chu Yuyao’s shoulder.
“It’s just opening cards. What’s there to be afraid of?” Hua Mu’ai turned to Intel Ji. “Fine, we agree. But give me a minute.”
Ten minutes later, Hua Mu’ai returned. She wore a cap, sunglasses, and a black mask.
She was wrapped up tight, with only a few strands of pink hair peeking from under the cap.
This was serious. If she showed up on a stream watched by millions, with her striking looks, she’d be recognized everywhere outside.
Twenty minutes later.
The table in the restroom was cleared, and the stream lit up again.
In the frame, Intel Ji sat in the middle. On her left was a nervous Chu Yuyao, and on her right sat a fully masked person.
The chat flooded with question marks.
“Sis, where did you kidnap this thug from?”
“LOL, is the one on the right planning to rob a bank after streaming?”
“Wrapped up like that, aren’t you hot?”
“Little sister Chu is so cute! Even without makeup she looks amazing! Her skin is flawless!”
…
Intel Ji looked at the chat and smiled.
“Folks, today we got super lucky! We ran into little sister Chu at the base! The person next to her is her bestie. She’s shy and doesn’t want to show her face, so she disguised a bit. Please bear with us.”
Hua Mu’ai rolled her eyes behind the sunglasses.
‘Shy my ass! If I weren’t afraid of being recognized and hounded everywhere, would I have wrapped myself like a mummy? This damn mask is suffocating me.’
“Alright, no more chit-chat. Let’s get straight to it!”
Intel Ji pushed a large sealed box of card packs to the center of the table. The packaging featured Tian Lanxing’s anime illustration.
“This is the Starlight Series from Aurora Toy, newly released. Today, each of us gets twenty packs. Let’s see who’s the true lucky one and can pull the hidden variant.”
She distributed the packs.
Chu Yuyao looked at the idol on the pack with adoration. She picked up a pack and slowly tore it open along the edge.
First card: a common N card.
Second card: R card.
As the third card flipped over, a dazzling violet light flashed across its surface.
“Wow!” Intel Ji exclaimed. “An SR on the first pack! Little sister Chu, you’ve got some luck! A great start!”
Chu Yuyao smiled sheepishly, holding the card up to the camera.
The card depicted Tian Lanxing deploying her Star Power shield. The silver-haired girl hovered in midair, a blue radiance forming an unbreakable barrier, her eyes resolute yet gentle.
Looking at her idol on the card, Chu Yuyao couldn’t help touching it repeatedly, murmuring to herself.
“So pretty…”
“My turn! My turn!” Intel Ji rubbed her hands excitedly and tore open two packs.
After a few duds, she pulled an SSR card glowing with brilliant gold.
On the card, Tian Lanxing was kneeling on one knee, most of her blue little dress magical outfit damaged. Her silver hair flew in the wind, with a backdrop of blazing ruins and billowing smoke.
“Folks, look what I got! The damaged version!”
Intel Ji was ecstatic, shoving the card directly into the lens.
“This is a precious image from the Twin Star Island battle seventeen years ago! Look at the adult’s indomitable posture, the determination to protect humanity at all costs! Even badly wounded, she never falls! So moving!”
