Chapter 126: A Desperate Obsession

Before Hua Mu’ai could even speak, Xia Xingyan wrapped herself around her.

Her long legs pinned down Hua Mu’ai’s short, shy legs. Her arms circled around Hua Mu’ai and pressed her into her soft embrace.

That incredible softness and elasticity overwhelmed Hua Mu’ai.

“Where are your clothes? Let go of me right now!”

Hua Mu’ai struggled to pull back.

But her body had always been weak, and under the burning heat, she had no strength left.

Her pushes against Xia Xingyan were less threatening and more like coy resistance.

“Clothes?” Xia Xingyan chuckled softly. “We don’t need those.”

She pressed her chin into the hollow of Hua Mu’ai’s neck, nuzzling her earlobe.

“Mu’ai… no, Mr. Gu.” Xia Xingyan whispered in her ear.

Hua Mu’ai stopped breathing.

She knows?!

Xia Xingyan seemed pleased by Hua Mu’ai’s shock. Her fingers traced down Hua Mu’ai’s spine.

“No wonder you refused so decisively.”

Xia Xingyan laughed again.

“Because the legendary magical girl Tian Lanxing is Qianqian’s father.”

“Since you know that, let go of me!”

Hua Mu’ai gritted her teeth and pushed with all her might.

But when her palm pressed against Xia Xingyan’s shoulder, it felt like it was burning. The heat surged even stronger.

Her breathing grew heavier. Each gasp was laced with sweetness.

Xia Xingyan looked at her with hazy eyes.

“Since your heart died with that woman, then I’ll just take your body.”

“Once we become one here, you’ll never shake me off. Not Tian Lanxing, not Gu Qing.”

This girl had completely lost it!

“Do you even know what you’re doing?!” Hua Mu’ai shouted.

But it was useless. Her voice was too soft, like she was whining.

Xia Xingyan ignored her warning. Or maybe Hua Mu’ai could no longer resist.

She pressed her lips to Hua Mu’ai’s neck.

“Mm…” Hua Mu’ai bit her lip but couldn’t stifle a moan.

Xia Xingyan’s kiss was clumsy. She had no experience, just instinctive sucking and biting.

Then one of Xia Xingyan’s hands started to slide down.

“Don’t… If you do that, I’ll never speak to you again.”

Hua Mu’ai frantically grabbed Xia Xingyan’s wrist.

“Why not?”

Xia Xingyan’s tears fell onto Hua Mu’ai’s face.

“I’ve thrown away my dignity, and you still won’t look at me?”

Her eyes were red. Her usually expressionless face was filled with desperation.

“Please…”

“You can pretend I’m anyone… even close your eyes and imagine I’m Su Ning…”

“Just don’t leave me… let me stay by your side…”

Xia Xingyan cried and kissed Hua Mu’ai wildly.

Her breasts pressed against Hua Mu’ai, rising and falling with her sobs.

Hua Mu’ai’s sanity was slipping away.

Her body ached to surrender to the flames.

Absolutely not!

Gu Qing, snap out of it!

How can you do this to a young girl?!

In the last second before her reason broke completely,

Hua Mu’ai bit her tongue hard. The pain cleared her muddled mind.

“Snap out of it!”

She mustered all her strength and drove her knee into Xia Xingyan’s soft stomach.

“Ngh…” Xia Xingyan winced and was forced to stop.

Hua Mu’ai seized the fleeting chance. She rolled off the double bed.

Her shirt was soaked with sweat, the thin fabric clinging to her body.

Xia Xingyan lay on the bed, her hair scattered across her back.

She stared blankly at Hua Mu’ai on the floor, her eyes full of reluctance.

Her once pale skin was now flushed a tempting pink.

“Don’t go…”

Xia Xingyan reached out to Hua Mu’ai, grasping at air like a drowning person reaching for a lifeline.

“You’re such an idiot!”

Hua Mu’ai fought the heat, using the nightstand to stand up.

She knew if she stayed another second in this room, she might give in.

She tried to summon the Heart Stone, but failed several times. She scratched her arm, using the pain to focus her scattered mind, and finally succeeded.

“Moon Liberation!”

A dazzling light filled the dim room.

When it faded, Tian Lanxing stood there.

Star power coursed through her body, instantly suppressing the alcohol.

Under the divine, majestic gaze, the madness in Xia Xingyan’s eyes dulled to numbness.

“Tian Lanxing…”

Xia Xingyan murmured, her hand falling limply.

Tian Lanxing waved her hand, manipulating the blanket to wrap Xia Xingyan up like a cocoon, leaving only her messy head exposed.

“Xia Xingyan, listen to me.”

Tian Lanxing looked at her, her tone severer than ever before.

“I don’t know what drug you took or what crazy thoughts are in your head. Tonight’s incident never happened.”

“Wake up!”

“If you don’t even cherish yourself and abandon your principles for obsession, you don’t deserve to stand in the Star Team!”

Without giving her a chance to argue, Tian Lanxing flew out the window into the night.

Even the invincible Tian Lanxing had fled.

On the hotel bed,

Xia Xingyan was trapped in the blanket, unable to move.

But she didn’t struggle anymore.

She just stared blankly at the dark sky outside the window. The cold wind had dried her tears.

“Never happened…”

She savored those words.

“Heh…”

A cold laugh escaped her throat.

The laughter grew.

“Ha-ha… ha-ha… hahahahaha!”

In the empty room, Xia Xingyan laughed until she couldn’t breathe.

The despair on her face faded, leaving only madness.

She tore off the blanket. Her laughter stopped abruptly.

She clawed at her face. A low, beast-like growl came from her throat, a suppressed roar.

Her sharp nails dug into her cheeks. Blood seeped out, dripping from her perfect jawline onto the blanket.

She didn’t feel the pain. Her eyes held only morbid obsession.

Xia Xingyan grabbed the blanket that had held Hua Mu’ai’s warmth, pressing the faintly milk-scented fabric to her face.

She rubbed her high nose against it.

Her breathing was heavy and greedy, as if she wanted to imprint that scent into her bones.

“Hahahahaha…”

“You can’t escape…”

At ten-thirty in the morning, at the gate of the hot spring resort.

Hua Mu’ai was furious.

She nervously twisted the hem of her hoodie.

Last night was like a terrible nightmare!

Thinking about that burning body and those crazily possessive eyes made her skin crawl.

I’m a grown man in his thirties! And I was almost pinned down and kissed by a high school girl.

They had agreed to meet at the gate to head back to Haishi. Gu Qianqian and Lin Xiaolu were already there, browsing souvenirs at a stall.

But where was Xia Xingyan?

Was she having second thoughts?

Would she not come? Or worse… would she not want to do the job?

Hua Mu’ai imagined several terrible outcomes, and her mood worsened.

Just then, a figure appeared behind her.

“Captain.” A cool voice spoke.

Hua Mu’ai jolted. She turned to see Xia Xingyan standing there.

She wore a black mask, only her calm eyes showing. They looked normal.

“Xing, Xingyan…” Hua Mu’ai didn’t dare meet her eyes. “You… you’re here.”

Gu Qianqian came over with a skewer of grilled squid.

“Sister Xingyan, why are you wearing a mask in this heat?” Gu Qianqian asked.

“I caught a cold from the sea breeze last night. I don’t want to infect you.”

But it wasn’t a cold. The scratches from last night were hidden under the mask. The red welts were glaring marks of her sick obsession.

Hua Mu’ai didn’t know. She only found Xia Xingyan too calm.

Calm as if the crazy woman who tried to force herself on her didn’t exist.

“Oh, then drink more hot water and take some meds when you get back.”

Gu Qianqian bit off a piece of squid, oblivious to the tense atmosphere.

“Mm.” Xia Xingyan nodded and looked at Hua Mu’ai again. “Captain, can we go?”

“Ah? Oh! Go, let’s go! Driver, let’s go!”

Hua Mu’ai was relieved and quickly turned to escape into the ride-hailing car.

She had expected Xia Xingyan to throw a tantrum, to give her the cold shoulder, to make her feel guilty.

But nothing happened.

Too normal. So normal it was creepy.

Sitting in the car, Hua Mu’ai had no idea what dark currents hid behind those seemingly calm eyes.

A week passed uneventfully.

During that week, the Star Team’s days were peaceful. Xia Xingyan’s cold seemed to persist. She always wore her black mask, and even stopped eating at home.

Everyone knew the cold was an excuse, but since Xia Xingyan wouldn’t tell the truth, they let her wear the mask.

Hua Mu’ai watched her secretly every day. She noticed that aside from being slightly colder to others, nothing had changed.

When facing Hua Mu’ai, she still woke up at six-thirty every morning, made her favorite century egg and lean meat congee, executed every training move perfectly, and called her “Captain” in that cool tone.

Hua Mu’ai had asked her to keep the secret of Tian Lanxing’s identity, and Xia Xingyan had kept her promise.

But the more normal she acted, the more uneasy Hua Mu’ai became.
