Join the ServerThe recording instructor’s lips twitched involuntarily. He cast a quick glance at Liu Yuxuan, who remained rooted to the spot, gesticulating wildly as he dissected the ‘Nineteenth Method of Courting Girls.’
A sigh escaped the instructor, and he couldn’t help but rub his forehead.
Just moments ago, the young man had been proudly brandishing a silver-grade magic core, yet now he was utterly lost in his own whimsical fantasies.
“To call you foolish would be inaccurate, considering you managed to secure a spot in a decent team,” the instructor murmured under his breath.
“But to label you intelligent? You’ve consistently held the esteemed position of second-to-last in the entire grade.”
Before his words could even fully dissipate, Liu Yuxuan’s voice suddenly boomed across the square.
“Brother Xingchen is undoubtedly imparting the ultimate profound mystery of ‘Desperate Situations, Rising Temperatures’ to the school beauties!”
The instructor nearly snapped his pen in two. Deciding it was futile to engage with such a live wire, he turned and strode towards the center of the plaza.
Chixiao stood there, arms crossed over his chest.
“The master of the Blazing Winged Lion certainly lives up to his formidable reputation,” the instructor remarked as he accepted the surprisingly heavy cloth bag.
His eyes gleamed upon seeing the sparkling pile of magic cores in Chixiao’s hands, and he nodded in clear satisfaction.
Indeed, the fire-element genius who had summoned the Blazing Winged Lion had not disappointed them in the slightest.
“Three silver-grade magic cores and fifteen bronze-grade magic cores! Chixiao’s team earns a grand total of 300 points! Let Chixiao serve as an example for all of you!”
The instructor’s voice rang out, proclaiming the impressive results.
This declaration struck the assembled students like a clap of thunder, causing a collective gasp to ripple through the crowd.
That score was equivalent to having hunted a staggering eighteen magical beasts!
“Th-thirty bronze-grade magical beasts? Did their team really hunt half of them?”
“There were only ten silver-grade magical beasts in total, and they managed to take down three of them?!”
“And this was all accomplished in just five short days… It’s utterly monstrous…”
A wave of hushed whispers spread through the throng. Many students stared at their own empty hands, then back at Chixiao’s formidable pile of trophies, their faces etched with profound disbelief.
Even those squad members who hadn’t managed to hunt a single magical beast now hung their heads in utter shame.
“How much?!” Liu Yuxuan, who had just been grinning mischievously, nearly bit his tongue clean off.
“We risked our very lives just to take down a single silver-grade beast… and he actually…”
The crowd instinctively parted, forming a clear path.
Wherever Chixiao stepped, the air around him seemed to shimmer and steam, as if superheated by the potent fire elemental energy he exuded.
“Impossible! We couldn’t even breach the defenses of a Bronze Iron-Armored Turtle!” one squad member, who had only managed to collect herbs, cried out in despair.
Hearing this, Chixiao turned, his pupils seeming to flicker with nascent flames.
“Do you know why Lava Lizards choose to nest near Frost Wolf territory? It’s because they need the wolves’ blood to regulate their body temperature. On the morning of the fifth day, I simultaneously raided both of their lairs.”
A profound silence descended upon the entire plaza.
The fire-element instructor suddenly burst into booming laughter. “Well done, lad! That is precisely the demeanor of a true fire-element mage!”
He then turned, casting a stern gaze upon the other students. “Now do you understand why someone like him is capable of summoning the Blazing Winged Lion?”
Moments later.
“The contractor of the Blazing Winged Lion truly is as formidable as they say…”
“All our teams combined barely managed to hunt bronze-grade magical beasts…”
Amidst the renewed whispers, some students secretly compared their own squad’s pitiful single-digit scores, suddenly finding the bread in their hands utterly unappetizing.
Zhao Yan and Lin Mo glared fixedly at the magic cores clutched in Chixiao’s hand, their eyes practically spitting fire. Those, they knew, were the very spoils they had painstakingly hunted, only to have them brazenly snatched away!
“That bastard…” Zhao Yan hissed, his teeth grinding together.
“He dared to steal our magic cores, relying on Chief Su’s protection, and now he has the audacity to flaunt his arrogance like this!”
His fists clenched, veins bulging visibly. He recalled the day they had ambushed Chixiao’s squad, only to collide head-on with the formidable duo of Su Liyue and Mu Wanqing.
Not only had they failed to gain any advantage, but they had also been inexplicably beaten into a state of unconsciousness, left in utter disarray.
And Ye Xingchen? A mere laggard, where could he possibly have acquired such potent abilities?
Lin Mo’s expression was equally grim.
“Hah, with their meager abilities, they struggled so much to even defeat a single silver-grade Rock-Armored Lizard…” His voice dripped with sarcasm, yet it also carried a distinct undertone of regret.
“If only I had known how terrifyingly powerful Su Liyue and her companions were, I would have dragged Zhao Yan away immediately.
Instead, they were left with nothing, having not only failed to gain any advantage but also losing all the magic cores they had painstakingly gathered. It was truly a case of trying to steal a chicken and losing the rice instead!”
The two exchanged a look, each seeing the same fierce resentment and unyielding indignation mirrored in the other’s eyes.
This particular score, they had certainly settled it in their minds.
Just then, a sudden commotion rippled through the crowd, as gasps of surprise erupted one after another.
“Look quickly! Xiao Yun has returned!” a girl exclaimed, excitedly tugging at her companion’s sleeve.
From a distance, a slender figure approached, his magic robe fluttering dramatically in the breeze.
A confident smile played upon his lips, and his steps were unhurried, as if he were merely taking a leisurely stroll through his own courtyard rather than returning from five days of arduous training.
“Ahhh! Student Xiao Yun, look over here!” Several girls shrieked, no longer able to contain their excitement, their cheeks flushing crimson.
“Truly worthy of a dual wind and fire-element genius; his aura is simply unmatched,” the wind-element instructor marveled.
“Judging by his composure, he must have reaped a substantial harvest, wouldn’t you agree?”
“Perhaps his results will even surpass Chixiao’s!”
The crowd once again parted automatically, and every gaze in the plaza converged upon Xiao Yun.
Even the recording instructor paused his tasks, his eyes drawn with keen curiosity to this prominent figure of the academy.
Xiao Yun, seemingly oblivious to the murmurs surrounding him, walked directly towards the recording desk.
With an effortless motion, he retrieved the magic cores from his storage ring, placing them one by one onto the table.
The instant they appeared, a distinct silver glow, emblematic of silver-grade magical beasts, radiated clearly from them.
The entire scene instantly fell silent. Everyone held their breath, anticipating the reveal of this prodigious talent’s accomplishments.
Even Chixiao found himself involuntarily narrowing his eyes.
“Th-this is?!” The recording instructor’s spectacles nearly tumbled from the bridge of his nose.
