Klein dedicated three full days to meticulously refining the manuscript that represented two months of his painstaking effort.

He meticulously scrutinized every phrase, every experimental step, and even the intricate diagrams, striving for the most precise and faithful representation.

This was more than just a paper; it was his solemn testament to the phenomenon itself, and a profound homage to his departed mentor.

When he stepped into the Magic Association, carrying the treatise titled “On the Fundamental Laws of Magnetically Induced Electricity,” the young archivist, upon discerning the title, let out a soft gasp as his quill clattered to the floor.

‘That wizard tower again!’

‘Electricity and magnetism, again!’

With trembling hands, he accepted the still-warm parchment, then rushed it through an emergency channel, delivering it directly to the desks of the Council’s highest echelons.

Having completed this urgent task, Klein did not linger at the association. Instead, he proceeded directly through the bustling streets of the Royal Capital, making his way to the Royal Academy.

The Academy, at this juncture, was imbued with an academic fervor that was utterly unprecedented.

The once diametrically opposed Schools of Lightning and Magnetic Fields, having endured a harrowing ideological crucible, had miraculously and spontaneously merged, giving rise to an entirely new discipline: the School of Electromagnetism.

In the bustling corridors and hushed library alike, mages from this new school could be found huddled together, their faces flushed with passionate debate over a single experimental datum.

“No, that’s wrong! Michael Faraday’s formula is only applicable to infinitely long straight conductors! The error you’re getting when applying it to coils is far too significant!”

“But we’ve already used his foundational ideas to derive the magnetic field formula for a circular current! See for yourself!”

One mage, visibly agitated, thrust a rune-etched slate toward his companion, upon which a complex integral process glowed, outlined by magical radiance.

“These are our findings; the margin of error has been meticulously controlled to within three percentage points!”

The generation of magnetism by electricity had already become the most fervent and promising research avenue for the entire school.

Occasionally, amidst their spirited discussions, someone would propose a truly audacious conjecture.

“If flowing electricity can generate magnetism, then, conversely… could moving magnetism also generate electricity?”

Yet, such a notion typically remained just a fleeting thought. For no one knew where to begin, nor how one might possibly observe such a faint current, which might or might not even exist.

Klein’s imposing figure materialized at the entrance of the Academy’s library. His towering presence and his iconic black mage’s robe instantly hushed the previously boisterous library into a profound silence.

All eyes, imbued with a palpable sense of awe, settled upon the formidable Eight-Ring Archmage.

Klein, however, disregarded every gaze directed his way. His eyes pierced through the throng, unerringly fixating on the figure in the corner who was idly turning pages, seemingly bored.

Lia Farrien sat by the window, bathed in a cascade of sunlight that enveloped her entire form in a soft, ethereal glow. Sensing that familiar gaze, she lifted her head, her eyes meeting Klein’s precisely.

Klein offered no words, merely inclining his chin toward her before turning to leave.

Lia Farrien understood. Closing her book, she rose and, under the curious stares of those around her, quickly followed him.

Upon their return to the wizard tower, Klein tossed a rolled parchment to her with an almost awkward gesture.

“For you.”

Having delivered the words, he moved away, busying himself with the pretense of tidying the already immaculate tomes on a nearby bookshelf. His back remained rigidly straight, yet his ears, almost imperceptibly, perked up, straining to catch any sound from behind him.

Lia Farrien accepted the scroll, then unrolled it with a palpable sense of curiosity.

‘On the Fundamental Laws of Magnetically Induced Electricity.’ Author: Klein.

Her heart quickened its rhythm. Immediately, she settled her thoughts and began to read with intense concentration.

She was already intimately familiar with this theory, understanding its profound significance perhaps more deeply than anyone else in the world.

Yet, at this very moment, as she followed Klein’s intricate reasoning, step by deliberate step, the profound awe that swelled within her was no less potent than that of an ordinary person encountering this law for the very first time.

Her astonishment was not merely for the theory itself, but a profound marvel at the sheer brilliance it embodied!

‘Magnetic flux!’

‘He had independently conceived and constructed this absolutely crucial physical concept, multiplying magnetic field strength by the area of the coil, employing an entirely new physical quantity to describe the “total magnetic field passing through the entire circuit”!

What astonishing intuition and profound insight!’

Lia Farrien continued to read, observing the ingenious device Klein had designed to measure the ‘rate of change’ of magnetic flux.

She saw the rigorous process by which he reclassified and analyzed every piece of experimental data, all in pursuit of discerning the law governing the direction of induced currents.

Finally, her gaze settled upon the two profound conclusions.

“The magnitude of the induced electromotive force in a closed circuit is equal to the rate of change of magnetic flux through that circuit.”

“The induced current will always flow in such a direction that the magnetic field it creates opposes the change in magnetic flux that induced it.”

‘Perfect! These two conclusions form the very cornerstone of the entire theory of electromagnetism!’

Lia Farrien lifted her gaze, turning to the figure still ostensibly arranging books, her eyes alight with a fervent warmth and profound admiration that she herself had yet to acknowledge.

“Klein.”

The man’s back stiffened for a fleeting moment. After two silent seconds, he slowly turned, his face still maintaining that characteristic aloof expression, as if he hadn’t been caught off guard.

“Is there an issue with the paper?”

“No, no issues at all.” Lia Farrien shook her head, rising to her feet and approaching Klein. She held up the parchment, her eyes gleaming with an astonishing brilliance.

“It’s utterly perfect.”

She declared with heartfelt sincerity.

Klein’s Adam’s apple moved almost imperceptibly.

Though he typically remained unruffled by even the most effusive praise from others, at this moment, a mere utterance of ‘perfect’ from her had sent ripples through the placid lake of his heart.

He merely grunted in acknowledgment, feigning an air of indifference.

But Lia Farrien had no intention of letting him off so easily.

“How did you possibly conceive of the concept of ‘magnetic flux’?” she pressed. “Connecting magnetic field strength and area together—that idea is nothing short of a divine stroke of genius!”

“An inevitable outcome of logical deduction,” Klein replied succinctly, though his gaze instinctively shied away from Lia Farrien’s direct stare.

“And what about this final law concerning direction?” Lia Farrien’s tone held a hint of playful cunning. “‘Always opposes’—that description… it almost sounds as if the universe itself possesses a rebellious streak, disliking any form of alteration.”

Klein fell silent. He met Lia Farrien’s eyes, which seemed to pierce through all pretense, and after a prolonged moment, he finally managed to squeeze out a few words.

“Merely an objective description of the phenomenon.” Lia Farrien, observing his stubborn insistence, finally couldn’t suppress a burst of laughter.

She didn’t press further, but the crescent moons of her eyes were eloquent, conveying a clear ‘I understand.’

A faint blush crept up Klein’s ears. He abruptly turned, facing the bookshelf once more, his voice betraying a subtle awkwardness.

“Once you’re finished, leave it on the table. I have other matters to attend to.”

Before the words had fully left his lips, he was already striding up the stairs with long, measured steps that belied an almost desperate urgency.

His departing back appeared stiff, as if he were meticulously striving to maintain the composed demeanor expected of an Archmage.

Lia Farrien watched his hasty ascent, the smile playing on her lips deepening further.

She carefully put away the extraordinarily significant treatise, her heart brimming with anticipation for the future.

As anticipated, two days later. When the Magic Association’s special edition once more flooded the streets and alleys of the Royal Capital, a storm—even more ferocious and proactive than the last—swept through the entire city, just as expected.

Within the wizard tower, even through multiple layers of sound-dampening magical arrays, Lia Farrien could still distinctly hear the ceaseless, wave-like cheers emanating from the distant Academy district. Klein’s treatise had been officially published.

***

The Academy of Electromagnetism had transformed entirely into a sea of joyous revelry.

When the manuscript of Klein’s treatise was presented to the head of the school, the elderly mage, well past his sixties, wept tears of profound emotion before all assembled.

He raised the parchment high, his voice hoarse with fervent shouts.

“It’s found! Someone has found it!”

“The other half of the bridge connecting electricity and magnetism has been discovered by Master Klein!”

The entire Academy erupted! Countless mages surged toward the alchemy workshops, eager to personally replicate that momentous experiment.

As they witnessed the slender needle precisely oscillate back and forth with the insertion and withdrawal of a magnet, every single person felt a profound tremor resonate deep within their soul.

“Gods above! It’s true! Moving magnetism truly *can* generate electricity!”

“Magnetic flux! The rate of change of magnetic flux! This line of reasoning is truly magnificent! How did none of us think of it before!”

“Quick! Calculate the induced electromotive force! I want to see if the law is truly flawless!”

If Lia Farrien’s theory of “electricity generating magnetism” had shattered the gates of the old era, revealing the landscape beyond, then Klein’s law of “magnetism generating electricity” had personally constructed the bridge leading to a new world.

***

Lia Farrien stood by the window, quietly listening to the distant clamor. Klein stood beside her.

“It seems you’ve become the hero of a new era.” Lia Farrien turned her head, looking at him with a mischievous smile in her eyes.

Klein did not look out the window; his gaze was fixed solely on Lia Farrien. The earth-shattering cheers, the lavish praises directed at him, seemed to pale in comparison to Lia Farrien’s simple declaration: ‘It’s utterly perfect.’

Lia Farrien averted her gaze and carefully arranged Klein’s treatise alongside her own, “On the Magnetic Effects of Electric Current,” on the table.

One described how electricity generated magnetism. The other described how magnetism generated electricity.

They were like two perfect puzzle pieces, mutually corroborating yet individually distinct, collectively unveiling one of the universe’s most profound mysteries.

“Electricity generating magnetism, magnetism generating electricity,”

Lia Farrien tapped the two parchments on the table with her finger, murmuring to herself. “They are like two sides of a single coin, inseparable.”

She lifted her head to meet Klein’s gaze, her clear eyes sparkling with a brilliant light.

“Klein, these two laws describe ‘how’ things happen, but they don’t explain ‘why’ they happen this way. They are two independent laws, discovered by us sequentially.

But I refuse to believe that, at the fundamental logic of the universe, they are separate. There must exist a… more fundamental, more magnificent theoretical framework.”

Lia Farrien’s finger traced a circle between the two treatises, encompassing them both.

“It should be a set of equations, a complete, unified theory capable of describing all electromagnetic phenomena. What we have discovered now are merely two cornerstones of this grand edifice.”

She looked up, meeting Klein’s stunned gaze, her voice imbued with a sense of distant longing, as if recounting an ancient dream.

“I recall… the end of that ancient text contained a somewhat vague description. It said that the laws of electricity and magnetism were not isolated poems, but different movements of a grand symphony.

They appear independent, yet they follow the same supreme melody…”

“Klein, tell me… could such a set of ‘fundamental equations’ truly exist? A theoretical framework that could perfectly unify my discoveries, and all phenomena of electricity and magnetism?”

Klein’s breathing suddenly grew shallow. He followed Lia Farrien’s gaze, as if he too could perceive that magnificent palace hidden behind a veil of mist.

A comprehensive, unified theory of electromagnetism! That would be… what an unparalleled storm!
