Chapter 200: A Dimensional Strike in Application

A week’s time, eagerly anticipated by countless people in the Royal Capital, quietly slipped away.

The venue for the magitech symposium was set in the largest thousand-seat auditorium of the Royal Academy of Sciences.

This stage, once where Master Laurent had performed his “cold deception,” was now about to witness a far more impactful duel.

The auditorium was packed to the brim.

In the front row sat King Augustus, President Samuel of the Magic Association, Horace, Eleonora, Laplace, and other top figures of the Royal Capital.

Behind them were professors and scholars from the kingdom’s major magic academies, as well as nobles and merchants with a keen sense for new technologies.

Everyone held their breath, awaiting the arrival of the main characters.

On the huge platform in the center of the auditorium, the first to appear from behind the curtain was Konrad von Richter, leading his team of engineers. He walked onto the platform with his head held high.

He had changed into an even more immaculate uniform, his face beaming with absolute confidence.

“Your Majesty, esteemed masters, ladies and gentlemen.”

Konrad’s voice, amplified by a magic array, was clearly transmitted to every corner of the auditorium.

“A week ago, Professor Lia offered valuable suggestions for our Empire’s ‘Magic Converter Model One’.

Over this past week, we have worked day and night, combining her wisdom with the industrial might of the Empire to create the all-new ‘Magic Converter Model Two’!”

He waved his hand dramatically.

The huge curtain fell away.

A steel behemoth appeared before the crowd with a roar.

It stood over three meters tall, its base welded from thick steel plates. A massive flywheel was connected to a complex set of gears, and at its core were five parallel arrays of enchanted magnets, each larger than a human head.

The entire device exuded a sense of power, every component gleaming with a cold, metallic luster.

Beside the device stood two bare-chested, muscular brutes.

They were berserkers from the Imperial army, known for their strength.

“This machine embodies the Empire’s most advanced engineering technology. Its theoretical conversion efficiency is three times that of the previous generation!”

A wave of suppressed gasps came from the audience.

For the mages, a fifteen percent conversion efficiency was already a staggering figure.

“Now, allow me to show you the power of applied science!”

At Konrad’s command, the two brutes immediately gripped the huge crank and began to turn it with all their might.

Creeak— Creeak—

The harsh sound of grinding metal and the roar of gears instantly filled the entire auditorium.

The massive flywheel began to turn ponderously, spinning faster and faster, creating a whistling wind.

At the back of the platform, a huge wall of light, composed of hundreds of enchanted light bulbs, began to flicker one by one as the flywheel turned.

When the flywheel reached its maximum speed, the entire light wall—hundreds of bulbs—lit up simultaneously in an instant!

The dazzling light instantly illuminated the entire auditorium as if it were day!

“Oh, my heavens!”

“Incredible!”

The nobles let out cries of astonishment, completely conquered by the spectacular scene before them.

This was more impactful than any light spell.

Because it was not ethereal magic, but tangible, audible, real steel and power.

Konrad thoroughly enjoyed the admiration.

This was the effect he wanted.

To engrave the brand of the Iron Eagle Empire into everyone’s hearts in the most direct and shocking way possible.

He bathed in the light and cheers, then cast a contemptuous gaze towards Lia and Klein on the other side of the platform.

“Professor Lia, Master Klein.”

His voice carried a barely perceptible hint of mockery.

“My performance is over. I wonder what kind of little toy you two have prepared to entertain everyone?”

As he spoke, a servant moved a small table onto the platform.

With a calm expression, Lia signaled to Master Grey behind her. He carefully carried a velvet-covered tray, walked onto the platform, and gently placed its contents on the table.

The velvet was unveiled.

A palm-sized metal device, like a work of art, lay there quietly.

Compared to the roaring steel behemoth next to it, it looked so small, so insignificant.

The cheers in the auditorium gradually died down.

The crowd looked at the inconspicuous little thing, their faces filled with confusion.

Some even let out stifled laughs.

“Just this?”

“What is that? A music box?”

“Is it for polishing that big thing?”

The smile on Konrad’s face widened.

Everything was going according to his plan.

In the face of absolute power, any exquisite trinket was just a laughable embellishment.

“A very interesting ornament,” Konrad commented.

Klein ignored his mockery, simply nodding to Lia.

Lia stepped forward, calmly facing the thousands of gazes from the audience.

She picked up the small device from the table and walked over to the still-roaring “Magic Converter Model Two.”

This move puzzled everyone.

Under Konrad’s bewildered gaze, Lia signaled an assistant to connect two thin wires from the small device.

The assistant walked over to the huge, noisy generator, skillfully found the output terminals on the axle housing, and firmly welded the two wires on.

This action stunned the Imperial engineers behind Konrad.

‘What is she doing?’

‘Is she planning to use the power from their generator to drive that little toy?’

‘This is utterly ridiculous!’

“Borrowing your electricity for a moment.”

Lia’s voice was not loud, but through the amplification array, it was clearly heard by everyone.

The sentence carried a casual, matter-of-fact tone, as if she were just borrowing a pinch of salt from a neighbor.

Konrad’s brow furrowed, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart.

Klein stepped forward and stood by the small table.

His movements seemed very casual.

He reached out a finger and gently flipped a small switch on the device.

There was no loud noise, no bright light, not even a decent sound.

The explosion or short circuit that Konrad had anticipated did not happen.

Instead, there was a slight, steady hum.

The quiet device, which everyone had regarded as an ornament, its coil beneath the crystal casing, instantly began to spin at high speed.

Its rotational speed was so fast that it left red afterimages on the retinas of the onlookers.

It spun so smoothly that the device itself, sitting on the table, did not move an inch.

This slight hum formed an absurd and stark contrast to the deafening roar of the generator next to it.

Before the crowd could react to this strange scene, an even more astonishing one occurred.

The electric motor was connected via a pre-installed pulley system to a dark, heavy iron ingot below the stage.

That iron ingot was a counterweight used by the Royal Academy of Sciences for pressure tests, weighing a full five hundred pounds.

The second the electric motor started spinning.

Under the horrified gazes of everyone, the heavy iron ingot was lifted smoothly, effortlessly, and slowly off the ground by a slender steel cable.

One foot, two feet, three feet…

It hung there in mid-air, defying common sense, and was still rising.

The entire auditorium fell into a deathly silence.

The deafening cheers and discussions from a second ago vanished without a trace.

Only Konrad’s generator continued to roar in futility, its sound now seeming so harsh and foolish.

Everyone’s brain shut down.

They looked at the brilliant wall of light, then at the massive iron ingot being lifted with ease, and an unavoidable question surfaced in their minds.

Which one was more useful?

A light bulb could only provide light.

But this inconspicuous little thing could easily lift a weight that several strong men couldn’t budge.

The potential it held, the ability to convert electricity into practical force, made the scalp of anyone with a bit of foresight tingle.

“While you were still thinking about how to crudely convert energy into light and heat…”

Lia’s calm voice broke the suffocating silence.

Her gaze swept over Konrad, whose face had already turned pale.

“…we have already solved how to convert energy into controllable, continuous, and efficient motion.”

This was not a technological leap.

This was, in terms of application, a dimensional strike.

Boom!

That sentence, like an invisible heavy hammer, slammed into the hearts of Konrad and all the Imperial engineers.

The arrogance on Konrad’s face instantly froze, then turned to a gray defeat.

His pride and joy, the steel behemoth, had been rendered a primitive relic. In front of their small electric motor, Lia had just defined the next era of electricity—the era of power.

The eyes of the Imperial engineers behind him were filled with confusion and the frustration of a shattered faith.

For the first time, they discovered that pure willpower and overwhelming material quantity were so fragile in the face of true wisdom.

King Augustus’s breathing became ragged.

He stared intently at the steadily rotating electric motor, an unprecedented fire burning in his eyes.

In his mind, he no longer saw light bulbs or lifted weights.

He saw war golems, driven by countless such devices, requiring no mages to control them.

City defense ballistae that could automatically load and aim!

An iron fleet that could cleave through waves without sails or oars!

He saw a wide, open road to absolute hegemony.

Augustus no longer hesitated.

He shot up from his seat, clapping with all his might, his voice booming as he announced:

“An unparalleled masterpiece! This is a power that can change the world!”

In front of everyone, he loudly declared:

“I have decided that Professor Lia’s particle accelerator project will be elevated to the kingdom’s highest priority!”

“The Royal Family will provide it with unlimited, cost-is-no-object support! Be it funds, materials, or manpower!”

After a brief silence, the entire hall erupted in thunderous applause.

This time, the applause was not for the flashy, impractical wall of light.

It was for the small electric motor that was changing the world.

And for its creators.

Amidst the gazes of awe, fervor, and fear from the entire audience, Klein walked to Lia’s side, naturally put an arm around her shoulder, and led her away from the center of attention.

They had proven themselves; the rest was just the revelry of others.

“Compared to his pile of heavy scrap metal,” Klein whispered with a low chuckle in Lia’s ear, “your thoughts are still more powerful.”

The corners of Lia’s lips curved upward slightly.
