Which reading system would you prefer for Pie Novels?

Deep within the underground mine, Victor stared at the massive and complex apparatus before him.

This system was the pinnacle of the kingdom’s refrigeration technology, the crystallization of countless mages’ wisdom.

The air was filled with the low hum of magic in operation, mixed with the pungent smell of evaporating alchemical reagents.

Isabelle stood beside him, her cheeks flushed with a morbid crimson from prolonged excitement.

She stared at a row of magical thermometers suspended in the air, their readings dropping at a visible rate.

“Magnetic field has stabilized!”

“Pressure in the vacuum chamber is below one-millionth of standard atmospheric pressure! The third-stage ‘Frost Rune Array’ is overloaded by thirty percent, energy diversion in progress!”

A mage responsible for monitoring reported the data, his voice trembling slightly with excitement.

Victor did not respond.

His entire focus was concentrated on the core observation window, made of reinforced crystal.

Inside the window was a realm of absolute darkness and nothingness.

In his mind, within that darkness, billions of light quanta were being mercilessly stripped of their final vitality by the relentless cold.

He awaited the moment of their complete annihilation.

That would be the horn call for his revenge, the overture to the resurgence of wave theory.

“The temperature has broken all records in the kingdom’s history,” Isabelle’s voice came, laced with irrepressible excitement. “We are approaching the critical point that woman predicted.”

Victor nodded, his throat a little dry.

Weeks of torment and countless failures had already consumed a vast fortune of his family’s wealth.

Success or failure hinged on this one attempt.

Time ticked by, second by second.

The air in the mine solidified.

Everyone held their breath, even the humming of the instruments seemed to vanish.

Suddenly, the monitoring mage’s voice rang out again, this time filled with incredulous horror.

“Anomalous energy condensation observed!”

Victor’s heart clenched violently.

He stared intently at the observation window.

In that ultimate darkness, a faint point of light appeared without any warning.

The point of light rapidly expanded as more light quanta around it, like pilgrims answering a call, surged madly towards it and merged with it.

They were no longer chaotic, disordered individuals.

They relinquished their individual independence, converging into a perfectly synchronized whole.

A ball of strange matter, emitting a soft, gentle glow, levitated in the center of the vacuum chamber.

It was quiet, stable, and so perfect it seemed otherworldly.

It radiated no heat outward, yet it was tangibly there.

It was a quantum state on a macroscopic scale.

Lia’s prophecy had become a reality, materializing before everyone’s eyes.

“No… no… impossible…”

Victor muttered, his face turning deathly pale in an instant.

He staggered back a step, bumping into the instrument rack behind him with a dull thud.

He felt his worldview being mercilessly torn apart by that small ball of light.

The smile on Isabelle’s face froze.

She looked at the glowing mass, her eyes filled with confusion and fear.

Like the other researchers, she could not comprehend what was happening before her.

This subverted all their knowledge of matter, of energy, of temperature.

“Record it,” Victor squeezed out the words through gritted teeth, his voice hoarse. “Record all of this with a magic crystal.”

He had lost.

Lost more completely than the last time.

Last time, Henry had only defeated him in theory.

But this time, he had personally, on a stage of his own making, verified the correctness of his enemy.

The magic crystal that recorded this cold miracle was quickly circulated.

The first to receive it was not the Magic Association, nor the king, but the leader of the Particle School, Henry.

When Henry, in his laboratory, saw the condensed light in the crystal, he was silent for a long time.

Then, he erupted into earth-shattering, maniacal laughter.

The laughter, filled with long-suppressed exhilaration and joy, vibrated the test tubes on the laboratory shelves, making them buzz.

“Victor, how can I ever thank you?”

Henry wiped away the tears of laughter from the corners of his eyes and immediately began to write furiously.

Three days later, the front-page headline of the latest issue of “The Journal of Magical Theory” featured an article personally written by Henry.

The title was succinct: “On the Experimental Observation of the Condensed State and Its Final Proof of Quantum Statistics.”

The article contained little theoretical exposition, simply presenting the images from the magic crystal clearly to all readers using a magical imprinting method.

That soft ball of light became the last straw that broke the Wave School’s back.

At the end of the article, Henry wrote: “My thanks to Mister Victor and his team for paving the way for truth with their impeccably rigorous experiment.”

This sentence was more humiliating to Victor than any vicious curse.

The academic circles of the royal capital were in a complete uproar.

Supporters of the Particle School flooded the streets, holding high the copies of “The Journal of Magical Theory” featuring Henry’s article, as if waving flags of victory.

The theory of quantum statistics, once regarded as heresy, became an unshakeable truth overnight.

The camp of the Wave School, in contrast, was a dead sea of silence.

Victor publicly acknowledged the experimental facts.

In a brief statement, he declared that the discovery of the condensed state was a great advancement in physics, but he insisted that it still could not explain the diffraction and interference of electrons.

Subsequently, he led the remaining core members of the Wave School to abandon the contest in the field of statistics and retreat fully to the bastion of Maxwell’s electromagnetic theory.

They firmly believed that as long as Maxwell’s equations remained the sole truth describing electromagnetic phenomena, wave theory would never die.

The particle-wave war that had once swept the entire kingdom thus came to a temporary, unexpected conclusion.

It did not have an ultimate victor.

The Particle School won absolute authority in the field of statistics but avoided talking about the results of the double-slit experiment.

The Wave School preserved its last bastion of electromagnetic theory but was helpless against the clear cloud chamber track photograph.

The war evolved into a prolonged stalemate.

A peculiar scene appeared in the classrooms of the Magic Academy.

“Professor, if an electron is a particle, how does it pass through both slits at the same time?” a young apprentice stood up in class, his face full of confusion.

The old professor on the podium wiped the sweat from his brow and answered dryly, “That is how the microscopic world is. Do not try to understand it with macroscopic thinking.”

The young mages learned these contradictory pieces of knowledge amidst confusion and struggle.

Their spiritual power jumped back and forth between two completely different worldviews, constantly at risk of collapse.

The cognitive impairment ward at St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries remained overcrowded.

The entire magical world fell into a strange and fragile balance.

The old war had reached a stalemate, while a new revolution was already quietly budding in a corner unnoticed by all.
