Join the ServerAugustus’s face became extremely ugly.
A crack finally appeared on his calm and elegant mask.
His pride and joy, the “Absolute Royal Authority,” was staging a ridiculous light show right before his eyes.
The runes on the walls flickered like drunken fireflies, with no discernible pattern.
The suffocating thickness in the air was rapidly dissipating.
In its place was an extremely unstable agitation.
It was the revelry of immense magic that had lost its restraints.
“This is impossible…”
Augustus stared deadly at the star chart above his head.
It was the central control hub of the entire array.
At this moment, the lines representing the flow of magic on it were a tangled mess, like a ball of yarn.
“Nothing is impossible.”
Lia walked to Klein’s side and patted the non-existent dust from her robe.
“The charm of science is that it never blindly worships authority.”
“Even if that authority is the founding monarch. Even if that authority has ruled for four hundred years.”
Klein did not speak.
He was concentrating on the movements of his hands.
That is, continuously releasing those tiny, frequency-specific pulses of magic.
Each pulse accurately struck the most fragile connection points of the array.
Like an experienced bomb disposal expert.
Or rather, the director of a demolition office.
“Stop!”
Augustus roared.
He could feel the magical foundation of the palace whining.
If this continued, it wouldn’t just be this room.
The entire defensive system of the royal palace could be paralyzed.
He raised his hand, and a dazzling golden light condensed in his palm.
If the array couldn’t be relied upon, then he would use his own power.
As the king, he was also a formidable mage in his own right.
Although he couldn’t compare to those Ninth Circle monsters, he had reached the peak of the Seventh Circle.
With the auxiliary support of the royal palace, he even had a chance to face a Ninth Circle Mage head-on.
“I will make you pay!”
A golden lion, formed purely of energy, roared and charged at the two of them.
It was the royal family’s secret evocation magic—Golden Lion’s Roar.
Grand in scale, astonishing in power.
But Klein didn’t even bat an eyelid.
He casually waved his sleeve.
A transparent spatial barrier appeared out of thin air.
The majestic golden lion crashed into the barrier and instantly turned into a pool of golden light spots.
It dissipated without a trace.
“How could this be…”
Augustus watched this scene in disbelief.
His full-powered strike was so easily neutralized?
“Good force.”
Klein commented faintly.
“But the aim is too poor. And, the magic structure is too loose. It’s simply a waste of magic.”
These words were more humiliating to Augustus than watching the two of them break the array before his eyes.
He felt like a child brandishing a wooden sword in front of an adult.
“Klein, stop playing around.”
Lia reminded him.
“The array is about to overload.”
She pointed to a corner of the wall.
A magic crystal there had already started to smoke, emitting a dangerous red light.
“If it explodes, we’ll be buried underneath.”
“Although I’m confident I can protect us, it wouldn’t be good to get our clothes dirty.”
Klein nodded.
“Understood.”
He stopped what he was doing.
Then, he held his hands out in the air.
The originally violent magical fluctuations, under the guidance of his hands, miraculously calmed down.
But this was not the end.
It was an accumulation of power.
“Your Majesty, you said just now that you wanted to take out Lia’s brain for your collection?”
Klein turned his head and looked at Augustus.
There was no emotion in his blue eyes.
But it sent a bone-chilling coldness through people.
“I’d also like to see. Without the protection of this palace,
…how much weight will your royal authority have left?”
As his voice fell, Klein clapped his hands together sharply.
“Spatial Peel.”
This was not an attack spell.
It was an extremely advanced spatial manipulation technique.
It was usually used in dangerous experiments to peel the subject away from the surrounding environment.
But now, Klein was using it to peel away the array’s magic source.
“Crack—”
A crisp shattering sound echoed throughout the hall.
It was like a huge mirror being smashed.
The golden light curtain that enveloped the room instantly disintegrated into countless fragments.
The outside air rushed in.
Carrying the unique coldness of a winter night, and the taste of freedom.
Augustus staggered back two steps and fell into his chair.
The array was actually broken.
And it was broken by brute force.
And in less than ten minutes.
He looked at the man and woman standing in the center of the room.
The man was as cold as ice, the woman as cunning as a fox.
They looked completely unscathed.
Not even their hair was out of place.
“Now.”
Klein dispersed the magic in his hands.
He walked towards Augustus, step by step.
The sound of his footsteps echoed in the empty hall, each one seeming to land on Augustus’s heartbeat.
“Can we have a proper talk now?”
Augustus swallowed.
He wanted to maintain his royal dignity.
But in the face of absolute power, that dignity seemed so pale and powerless.
Just then.
“BOOM—!!!”
A huge explosion came from the direction of the palace’s main gate.
Followed by a continuous series of explosions.
The ground shook violently, and the wine bottles on the table clattered to the floor.
Augustus shot up.
“What now?!”
His nerves were on the verge of collapse.
Had those two madmen really planted bombs in the Royal Capital?
Lia was also a little bewildered.
She looked at Klein.
“Did your little balls go off?”
“No. Should I detonate them now?”
Klein shook his head.
“But the detonator is still with you.”
“Then what is this…”
Before Lia could finish her words, the heavy, intricately carved oak door of the reception hall was suddenly and violently blasted open from the outside.
No, not blasted open.
It was directly melted.
Molten lava flowed at the doorway, burning a large hole in the expensive carpet.
The smoke and dust cleared.
Three figures appeared at the doorway.
In the middle was an old man in a gray robe with an unkempt beard.
He held a staff, the gem at its tip still emitting heat.
To his left was an elegant woman in a dark green dress.
Although she was currently holding a still-writhing vine of a man-eating flower.
To his right was a dazed-looking old scholar with thick glasses.
But the dozen or so miniature meteorites floating behind him were not dazed at all.
“Oops.”
The old man in the middle scratched his head, looking innocently at the people in the room.
“It seems we’ve come at just the right time.”
Horace grinned, revealing a set of not-so-neat teeth.
“I heard the tea here is good.”
“So we just dropped by for a cup.”
“And by the way,”
His gaze fell on Augustus, his smile becoming somewhat dangerous.
“to ask Your Majesty, why are you bullying our kid?”
