Chapter 36: The Love Battlefield and the Divine Inheritance

Suddenly caught in such a love battlefield, Song Ze was completely dumbfounded. He quickly looked at the Elder Prince. “Your Highness, wait, I—I can explain…”

Regardless, after what happened before, the Elder Prince might already think he was gay too… In any case, he couldn’t just sit back and do nothing now; maybe there was still a way to resolve this!

“It’s alright. I trust you.” The Elder Prince looked at Song Ze gently instead.

Song Ze: “…” No, he hadn’t even said anything yet! He just wanted to explain that although he was involved with the Second Prince, it wasn’t that intense! Don’t trust him!

There was no way to say it in this atmosphere!

After all, he was still standing between these two ominous presences. If he said something wrong, he might end up torn apart by them.

Then the Elder Prince coldly glared at Andreya and sneered, “Using such an excuse to sow discord, do you think I would believe it?”

Everyone suddenly understood, thinking the Elder Prince’s reasoning was sound. After all, how could a random human transported to the demon realm be involved with the Second Prince?

But in reality…

Song Ze hadn’t expected the Elder Prince to have such trust in him. He almost wanted to shake the Elder Prince awake and make him sober up. Why did he trust him so much? Instead, it made him feel like a scumbag!

“No, I—”

Just as Song Ze was about to confess everything to the Elder Prince, the Elder Prince said in a deep voice, “I know. You don’t need to speak. You don’t have to fear his threats.”

Song Ze: “…” This was deliberate, wasn’t it!

Elder Brother, you’re just fooling yourself.” Andreya laughed mockingly. “How could you not have noticed the traces of demonic energy on him? You just didn’t want to believe it… but in truth, he is mine. I don’t care about other things from the past, but this person—I will never yield!”

…Really, it was deliberate.

“Shut up.” The Elder Prince’s gaze turned ice-cold, looking at his younger brother as if he were dead. “What evidence do you have?”

Of course, he had long sensed the faint demonic energy on Song Ze, but so what? It didn’t affect his thoughts at all.

Andreya sneered back at the Elder Prince, no longer wearing the harmless, innocent facade he showed in front of Song Ze. If his usual persona was that fake good-guy image, now he was completely unabashed.

“Elder Brother, since you want to humiliate yourself, I won’t stop you.”

At that moment, the Elder Prince suddenly turned to Song Ze, causing him to shiver involuntarily.

“What do you think?” he asked.

“What?” Song Ze was stunned, never expecting to be asked for his opinion in the midst of such a fierce love battlefield.

“Elder Brother, you—” Andreya’s expression turned ugly, as if he hadn’t anticipated the Elder Prince would ask such a question.

After all, they couldn’t start a full-blown fight here. No matter the reason, the outcome would be troublesome. Although they indulged their demonic nature, they wouldn’t go that far.

“Who do you want to stay by?” The Elder Prince turned his head, gazing intently at Song Ze, his tone as casual as if asking about the weather. An outsider would never know this was a life-threatening love battlefield.

Andreya leaned in, grabbing Song Ze’s hand in a spoiled manner, his ruby-like eyes looking pitifully at him. “Didn’t we make a pact? Are you angry with me? I’m sorry, I was wrong before… As long as you come back to me, I’ll change everything I did wrong…”

Song Ze: “???” What? Why was Andreya being so obedient? It was practically deceptive!

The onlookers were shocked, their eyes nearly popping out. This was the first time they’d seen the Second Prince act spoiled… Though it looked harmonious, it was actually as terrifying as a horror movie, okay!

Earlier, everyone was discussing how this human had seduced the Elder Prince, but now… this was beyond anyone’s imagination.

Song Ze looked at the Elder Prince, then at Andreya, feeling a painful difficulty in choosing.

If he had to choose right after dinner, he would have picked the Elder Prince. But now that he knew the Elder Prince was gay, going back with him would be dangerous. Still, Andreya was also gay, so it was six of one, half a dozen of the other.

But the Elder Prince was far more powerful than Andreya, so life with him would be easier. However, the future was unpredictable.

Moreover, he still had the Bond Andreya placed on him. When would it ever be broken? Andreya knew his identity and everything, including the way out of the ruins.

Most importantly, although Andreya was brutal, he was at least a target to conquer in the game. The worst outcomes were only the bad endings.

After thinking it over, Song Ze let emotion lose to reason. Just as he was about to speak, a sharp pain suddenly shot through his neck. His face turned pale, and cold sweat broke out.

Everyone clearly saw blood-red patterns emerge on Song Ze’s neck.

“That’s the royal ‘Bond’!”

“It’s the pattern representing the Second Prince… So they really are…”

“This…”

This Bond wasn’t used casually in the demon realm. Once used, it created an ambiguous connection between both parties… In fact, it was a spell with some erotic undertones. That the Second Prince had used it on Song Ze inevitably invited speculation.

Song Ze covered his neck, unsure if the pain was from before. The Divine Inheritance mark on his back soon began to heat up, rapidly draining his stamina.

If not for being held between the two, Song Ze might have collapsed to the ground.

He gasped heavily, unable even to make a sound, in so much pain he wished he could pass out. The burning sensation on his back made him feel as if his skin was on fire.

“What’s going on…” Andreya paused, then his expression changed abruptly. He ripped open the clothes on Song Ze’s back.

Under everyone’s shocked gazes, the Divine Inheritance mark on Song Ze’s back burst into brilliant light. The power emanating from it even distorted the surrounding space for a moment, drawing the attention of nearly half the demon realm.

Various factions were alarmed. After discovering that the spatial disturbance came from the Elder Prince’s location, they cautiously sent people to investigate.

The crowd at the scene erupted.

“That’s the Divine Inheritance—”

“Unbelievable, he is the Chosen of the Gods!”

“I never thought the Chosen would appear in our demon realm…”

Commotion exploded around them. If not for their fear of the Elder Prince and Second Prince, those people would have rushed over immediately.

Completely different from Song Ze’s earlier assumption based on the game—that the Chosen would be ganged up on—the demon realm operated on survival of the fittest. The ruins were the quickest way to become stronger, turning an ordinary demon into an elite. This indicated how powerful that god was.

Thus, everyone harbored a fanatical reverence for the god, and Song Ze, as the Chosen, was now almost on par with the Holy Son of the Sanctum!

Moreover, because Song Ze had received two inheritances, the power he erupted was astonishing, triggering instinctive exclamations from others.

Their gazes toward Song Ze changed instantly. If before they looked at him with pity or affection, now they added respect, as if regarding an equal. They completely forgot he was human.

“No wonder the Elder Prince insisted on being betrothed to this human… This Chosen. It seems he received guidance from the god.”

“Indeed. With such status, he is perfectly matched with the Elder Prince. It’s fate.”

“So the Second Prince must have met this human in the ruins. No wonder he was so adamant about having him back. Considering the human’s identity, his partner will surely be the next ruler of the demon realm.”

With this twist, Song Ze, who had seemed unworthy just a moment ago, suddenly became incredibly sought after.

Song Ze was already at his limit, unable to think or hear what people were saying. He only felt his body growing cold, and the person beside him held him tighter.

In that sensation, Song Ze directly fainted. He felt as if he had run a thousand meters carrying several people on his back—he couldn’t hold on any longer.

Andreya clenched his teeth. He had never wanted this to become public knowledge. Originally, Song Ze was only his, but now he would be noticed by so many—it was infuriating.

He had never thought about becoming the ruler of the demon realm, nor did he care about the ruins. But he would never give up Song Ze!

Song Ze was special to him.

The Elder Prince also seemed oblivious to the surrounding chatter. The throne had always been within his reach, something he never worried about losing. He wouldn’t force himself to do anything he disliked for it.

He held the human boy, who looked utterly miserable, close. A hint of worry appeared even in his crimson eyes. He gently stroked Song Ze’s cheek and said, “If I’m not mistaken, today is the day the ruins reopen.”

“That’s right…” Andreya, who had also been watching Song Ze, suddenly remembered something. “That must be why Song Ze is suffering so much. No wonder… the power of the ruins is calling him, trying to awaken the similar power within him…”

So in that moment, the Divine Inheritance mark tried to break through his Bond, thus draining Song Ze’s stamina. But even after erupting with such power, because it wasn’t concentrated enough, it still hadn’t undone the Bond.

…So it was he who had caused Song Ze such pain.

An indescribable emotion flickered in Andreya’s eyes. He pressed his hand against Song Ze’s back, lowered his head, and kissed the back of his neck, closing his eyes.

****

“I’m sorry.”

In his daze, Song Ze vaguely heard a soft voice whispering by his ear, like a feather brushing past.

But he had no time to think, because in his dream, he felt a familiar presence.

It was the presence of the Holy Son.
