Chapter 32: The Elder Prince’s Cage

When Song Ze opened his eyes in the pitch blackness, he realized he was still trapped in the cage, with silk draped over it. Through the fabric, he could faintly make out its delicate patterns.

Song Ze: “!!” Why is this so luxurious!

This is truly insane!! They were about to torture him to death, yet they still had the leisure to decorate the cloth covering the cage. Only that villainous Elder Prince, the final boss, would do something like this!

After all, the Elder Prince was Andreya’s brother—same parents, similar upbringing, so naturally their personalities were alike!

But in the original story, the demon princess had become a lovesick fool due to various circumstances, obsessed with the protagonist, unwilling to harm him, and even betrayed the demons to help against her own brother. The old demon king probably felt like his life was a joke. The Elder Prince, however, was just a regular villain with perfectly normal sexual orientation. Of course, he used every ruthless means on the protagonist, eager to eliminate this obstacle from his path.

Song Ze was already terrified of Andreya, who had relatively high favorability toward him, so facing the Elder Prince was even worse!

“It looks like I’ll have to face a reload soon…” Song Ze curled up in the cage, racking his brains to figure out how to survive the Elder Prince, but no matter how he thought, hope seemed slim.

“Damn it, I have to think—did the game ever mention any weaknesses of the Elder Prince?”

When he played the game, he only focused on the love interests. Who would pay attention to male villains like this!

At that moment, the surrounding cloth was suddenly pulled away. Light streamed in from the outside, forcing Song Ze to shield his eyes. After adjusting to the brightness, he finally saw where he was.

It was a magnificent room, exuding an air of class and wealth. Without a doubt, this was the Elder Prince’s residence.

The young man standing before him made Song Ze instinctively shrink back. His body soon hit the cage’s bars, and the chain on his ankle clinked against them.

The Elder Prince gently stroked the cute black cat in his arms, his gaze appraising as he looked Song Ze over from head to toe.

Song Ze’s trembling intensified.

He was going to die—absolutely going to die!!

The next moment, the black cat in his arms suddenly seemed provoked. It lunged straight at Song Ze’s cage.

Song Ze: “!!!”

Holy crap!! Others might not know, but Song Ze was well aware that this seemingly harmless little black cat was actually a sixth-tier magical beast. The one the Elder Prince held could even burst out with seventh-tier strength at times—roughly equivalent to level 70—and could tear an enemy apart in just a few swipes.

The Elder Prince was using this beast against him right off the bat!

Song Ze shut his eyes tightly, feeling like his breath had stopped, waiting for death to come.

But after a long while, nothing happened. Song Ze opened his eyes and was shocked to see the beast curled up beside him like a real kitten.

W-What’s going on… Is the Elder Prince toying with him before killing him?!

Song Ze looked up and saw the Elder Prince standing right in front of him, watching him. He immediately held his breath, not daring to move.

How terrifying is this?!

As Song Ze was trembling with fear, the Elder Prince directly opened the cage door. With a smile that sent chills down one’s spine, he said in an icy tone, “Human, you seem very afraid of me?”

Song Ze curled into a ball, hugging the blanket he had used for warmth, looking at him with teary eyes. “P-Please… d-don’t kill me…”

“Kill you? Of course not.” The Elder Prince wore a haughty expression. “I spent that many magic crystals, not for a disposable toy.”

Song Ze: “…” These brothers really have similar entertainment tastes! Always keeping toys and pets.

But if that’s the case, does the Elder Prince not know his true identity?! He didn’t buy him just to torture and kill him? What a relief!

The Elder Prince suddenly noticed the human youth before him brighten up, his eyes gaining life.

Hmm. Such a human would perhaps not survive even a few days in the demon realm. Yet this fragile, helpless human existed.

Watching him, the Elder Prince took a deep breath of the air that carried a different scent. The feeling was… novel.

Before Song Ze could relax, the Elder Prince’s words made him tense up again: “Human, what can you do?”

Song Ze cautiously looked at him, afraid that his words might reveal something and then trigger the Elder Prince’s bad temper.

Unfortunately, this was not a target to pursue. He didn’t know what kind of person the Elder Prince was, only that he was a brutal and deranged character! Plus, he had a particularly fierce fiancée; both were sinister opponents who often caused Song Ze to die and reload.

Other than that, he only knew that the Elder Prince resented Andreya because the latter’s birth had caused their mother to die in childbirth, leading to their poor relationship. Though Song Ze didn’t understand how a demon with such strong vitality could die in childbirth.

Maybe the Elder Prince lacked love? — No way! Look at that fierce appearance; is he really that kind of person?

In the end, Song Ze decided to use the same attitude he had with Andreya and cautiously said, “Th-Then, Your Highness, what do you want me to do?”

“Entertain me.” The voice was firm, tinged with a cold, mocking smile.

Song Ze: “…”

Song Ze: “???”

W-What does that mean?!

This ‘entertain’ surely doesn’t have any gay implications, right!

After all, the Elder Prince, as a straight male character with no romantic plot with the protagonist, could not possibly be involved in something like that!!

Given the nature of this world, he thought it more likely that female characters who had ambiguous relationships with the protagonist would be gender-bent. Other men so far were perfectly normal!

Thinking about the Elder Prince’s in-game settings, ‘entertain’ must have another meaning!

Song Ze racked his brains and then forced himself to stand up. Suddenly, inspiration struck.

With the Elder Prince’s meaningful gaze on him, Song Ze slowly walked up to him, his ankle chain dragging and clinking, creating a slightly seductive sound.

He approached the Elder Prince, raised his head, his face seemingly flushed with shyness, and stood on tiptoe, now inches away from the Elder Prince.

The atmosphere in the room became quite ambiguous.

Then Song Ze reached out and draped the blanket he had been holding over the Elder Prince’s shoulders.

The room seemed to freeze instantly.

Feeling that the blanket wasn’t arranged well, he carefully adjusted it a bit.

The Elder Prince: “???”

Given the situation, Song Ze had thought it over and concluded that the Elder Prince might be feeling cold, which was why he said that!

After all, the Elder Prince wasn’t gay!

System: […]

The Elder Prince looked down and saw the human youth looking up at him with a hint of caution and expectation in those pure blue eyes, as if hoping for praise.

If this had happened before, the Elder Prince would have immediately had the person dragged off and executed—this was a blatant provocation!

But at this moment, he couldn’t bring himself to say anything harsh. He didn’t want to see that pair of eyes tainted with any other color.

And damn it, that stupid blanket actually made him feel a bit warm, vaguely reminding him of something from long ago.

“Y-Your Highness, how do you feel now?” Song Ze asked softly.

Finally, the Elder Prince pulled the ridiculous blanket tighter around himself, let out a snort, glanced at Song Ze, and said indifferently, “Barely acceptable.”

With that, he turned and left hurriedly, still exuding that intimidating aura.

Song Ze let out a sigh of relief, beginning to admire his own cleverness. If he hadn’t observed closely and caught the subtext in the Elder Prince’s words, how could he have avoided the bad ending!

If he kept raising the Elder Prince’s favorability, maybe he could even complete the main quest!

Suddenly filled with confidence in the future, Song Ze turned around and was shocked to see the black cat still in the room, lounging casually on the fluffy carpet with no intention of leaving.

Song Ze: “…”

QAQ!!! Why is this deadly thing still here?!

*****

In the Dark Forest.

“Not here.”

Andreya’s voice sounded low. He coldly looked around, frowning deeply.

After that incident, he had expended considerable effort to escape the spatial turbulence. He immediately came to find Song Ze’s tracks, but the binding spell he had placed on Song Ze seemed to have lost its effect due to the distance, and he could no longer sense where Song Ze was.

“Who knows where these spatial rifts will take someone. That damn b*tch in the Holy Temple—if I get the chance, I’ll tear him to pieces…”

Even Andreya, at this moment, felt agitated and began to regret placing the binding on Song Ze… though that binding could still activate at a critical moment to save a life.

“But even if he’s far away, he can’t be this untraceable.” Andreya took a few more steps forward, his face suddenly darkening. “Could he have been sent… to the demon realm?”
