Chapter 53: The Banquet Interrupted

Song Ze, unaware of what awaited him, was still enjoying life in the Os family’s manor.

These past few days had been so relaxing that he almost forgot he was in a dangerous illusion. Every day he indulged in delicious food, and the gentle maids greeted him warmly. Song Ze was so moved he could cry.

Though he was anxious about why Miss Os had bought him, she seemed quite idle and often came to ask about his experiences. Song Ze had to fabricate a tragic past to get by.

But even his half-hearted explanations were believed by Miss Os, who felt even more pity for him and even planned to hire a tutor. Song Ze was stunned—was this the demon realm or some kind of paradise? The people here were so kind!

However, Song Ze suddenly woke up. He realized if this continued, he wouldn’t even need to rescue the Elder Prince—he might never get out himself. He couldn’t lose to a mere illusion!

Then he learned that a banquet would be held at the Os manor the next day, inviting all the high society of the demon realm. Song Ze’s heart raced—this was undoubtedly his opportunity.

Time flew by.

Although Miss Os wanted to formally introduce Song Ze, the time wasn’t right, so she simply had him follow her to the banquet.

Song Ze was baffled that she brought him so openly. He had planned to sneak in, but here he was, walking in broad daylight?

Things were going so smoothly it was confusing.

Song Ze was familiar with such banquets, especially after the shameful engagement ceremony he’d experienced. To avoid trouble, he acted timid, which fit his persona.

The other guests were curious about Song Ze but, due to Miss Os, didn’t stare openly. After seeing him, they began to understand her feelings—

That demon boy was just too cute! They wanted to hug and squeeze him! And the way he stood shyly in the back was adorable!

If it were them, they would have bought this s*ave too! But what about the Elder Prince? Wouldn’t there be trouble?

Many who knew the situation inwardly shook their heads.

It was a pity—the s*ave boy seemed decent, but he had angered the Elder Prince, sealing his tragic fate. A quick death would be the best outcome; if he survived, the torture would be unimaginable, for he had offended the Elder Prince himself!

After some polite exchanges, Miss Os saw Song Ze’s fear and considerately let him sit aside to rest.

The onlookers were surprised. Wasn’t Miss Os just trying to provoke the Elder Prince? But her actions didn’t seem like that…

Suddenly, a loud boom came from outside. Everyone’s face changed, but before they could react, the main doors shattered, and a gust of wind swept in, leaving the hall in disarray.

If not for their own power, the guests would have been blown away. Even those who kept their composure looked disheveled.

Song Ze, whose strength was suppressed by the illusion, clung desperately to a pillar. Otherwise, he would have crashed into the wall and, with his frail body, suffered serious injuries.

Yet no one dared to complain, knowing full well who dared to cause such a commotion in the Os manor—only the Elder Prince.

Miss Os’s face darkened. She hadn’t expected the Elder Prince to come himself. Their relationship was never close, so she thought he’d just send someone to humiliate her. Now Song Ze was in danger—

Without thinking, she turned to have Song Ze taken away, but before she could speak, transparent walls surrounded the space, sealing all exits. The magic patterns flickered, showing a spell beyond anyone present’s ability to break.

Miss Os clenched her fists, feeling helpless for the first time. She should have seen this coming. If anything happened to Song Ze, she would never forgive these people!

Meanwhile, demon guards filed in under the awed gazes of the guests. Positioning themselves, they intimidated everyone into stillness. Though the guests were influential, no one wanted to risk embarrassment—or death—by acting rashly.

Several subordinates entered expressionlessly, glancing at Miss Os with intent.

“What do you think you’re doing!” Miss Os gritted her teeth. “Even for the prince, this is too much!”

But suddenly, screams came from behind. She spun around and saw Song Ze being grabbed and shoved forward.

“Damn it!” Flames erupted from Miss Os, but an overwhelming pressure descended like a mountain, stifling her demonic energy. She couldn’t even move, let alone attack.

Cold sweat trickled down her face. For the first time, she realized the vast gap in strength between her and the Elder Prince—but it had to be at such a critical moment…

The others looked at Song Ze as if he were already dead.

Song Ze, pale and trembling, looked utterly pathetic (he was already pale, and the wind had tousled him). When he looked up at the Elder Prince, tears fell from his azure eyes (also from the wind).

He appeared to be a pitiful, weak demon. The Elder Prince had scared him to tears, and his slender body seemed ready to break under the pressure.

The onlookers felt sympathy. Even those who had clamored for the ‘adulterer’s’ death were stunned, unable to bring themselves to act.

This innocent boy was being used by that malicious Miss Os! And now he was going to die—how pitiful!

But everyone knew the Elder Prince wasn’t one to show mercy.

The Elder Prince remained cold, staring straight at Song Ze. At first indifferent, he suddenly paused.

Whatever he thought, he didn’t show it. To everyone else, he just looked stern, pronouncing Song Ze’s death sentence.

Then, his pressure intensified. Even his subordinates broke into sweat, and the distant nobles trembled uncontrollably.

“W-what’s happening? Is the prince angry?”

“I didn’t expect him to be this furious… Today won’t end well.”

“Miss Os went too far. What a shame about that s*ave…”

The subordinates were baffled, trying to gauge their master’s mood. They could only guess that the Elder Prince was enraged by Miss Os’s choice of such a fragile s*ave, feeling his dignity insulted.

Then, the Elder Prince strode quickly toward Song Ze.

Miss Os’s heart leaped to her throat. “Your Highness, it’s my fault! Don’t hurt him! Song Ze is innocent… He did nothing… It’s all my fault…”

But the prince had already reached Song Ze.

Everyone held their breath, expecting bloodshed. Yet now, instead of relish, they felt regret.

The Elder Prince turned to Miss Os. “His name is Song Ze?”
