Chapter 55: The Demon Prince’s Engagement

Song Ze was already overwhelmed with shame after doing something like this. His entire face was flushed bright red, but his brilliant blue eyes, tinged with moisture, remained fixed tightly on the Elder Prince—after all, at this moment he had to confirm the other’s thoughts! Otherwise, if things went wrong, it would be troublesome!

The Elder Prince’s reaction was straightforward. He stared intently at Song Ze, his crimson eyes seeming to shimmer with light.

“I understand.” The Elder Prince’s voice was low as he directly lifted Song Ze into his arms.

Song Ze looked up at the Elder Prince in surprise, “???”

Indeed, from the moment he first saw Song Ze, his eyes could no longer see anyone else. As for the other’s identity, the past, everything—the Elder Prince didn’t care, as long as he got his hands on him. He was simply that unrestrained kind of person.

Song Ze: “P-Prince?!”

“Tomorrow I will have the engagement ceremony prepared. Be ready.” The Elder Prince declared with certainty.

Song Ze: “……??” WTF?!

This marriage speed was way too fast, beating even real-world speed!

“Prince, is this really okay? I’m just a s*ave… Won’t everyone else mind?” Song Ze was so bewildered he couldn’t help saying this.

“Who dares to call you a s*ave?” The Elder Prince had evidently thought everything through before he spoke. “You are my fiancé. If anyone else dares to say that, it’s an insult to you. I’ll just kill them.”

Song Ze: “!!” Who has your strength, though!

But thinking about it, the Elder Prince had married a human before and even accepted that mysterious three-person engagement. Compared to a human identity, a demon s*ave was much more normal now.

From some kind of cross-species mysterious love story to a Cinderella and prince idol drama.

[Actually, this is mainly because the host broke the previous illusion, causing this illusion’s control to decrease, making the other person more easily influenced by real emotions… So…]

Song Ze: “…” So that’s how it is. In that case, this illusion should be much easier to break.

[The current target’s affection has already maxed out. The host’s control over themselves in the illusion has strengthened. Next, please think of a way to stimulate the target to leave this illusion as soon as possible; otherwise, a bad ending will be triggered.]

“I-I know!” Song Ze broke into a cold sweat hearing this and replied in his mind, “I will definitely work hard!” The overwhelming number of bad endings with Idis had practically traumatized him.

****

After that, the Elder Prince went to prepare the engagement ceremony. Although he had only known Song Ze for a day, he was such a decisive man.

When this news spread, people weren’t too shocked. After all, the Elder Prince’s performance at the Oster family banquet had already been astonishing and full of true love; their shock had been mostly used up back then.

Moreover, if it were an ordinary nobleman, they might have compromised their true love for the future or something, but the Elder Prince, being so unrestrained, couldn’t care less about others’ opinions!

In fact, this matter was nothing for the Elder Prince. Compared to the time he killed another minister’s heir over a disagreement, causing a series of troubles, getting engaged to a s*ave was just a personal affair, so much so that it was almost touching in its lack of trouble.

But how could Song Ze let this engagement ceremony go smoothly? He certainly couldn’t let the Elder Prince have his way, or that would be the bad ending!

Even without Aliel and the Holy Son interfering in this illusion, given the Elder Prince’s methods, he must have countless enemies. Song Ze only needed to slightly influence the illusion, making some things a bit more exaggerated.

……

The day of the engagement ceremony arrived quickly.

Having experienced it once before, Song Ze felt very familiar and was calmly thinking without any distraction. The surrounding attendants, however, were astonished by Song Ze’s appearance.

After all, they had been told that the person before them was just the lowest s*ave bought from the s*ave market by Miss Oster. But Song Ze’s demeanor and appearance had nothing to do with the word “s*ave.” Now dressed in noble attire, no one could guess his true identity.

Were the people in the s*ave market blind? This was such a waste. The servants inwardly speculated about Song Ze’s past.

Then, in the hall, he met the Elder Prince waiting there.

The engagement ceremony was similar to reality. Other than the Demon King’s likely absence—he didn’t care about his son’s marriage—there would probably be no trouble.

The Elder Prince nodded slightly at Song Ze. He always felt the situation was strangely familiar, as if he had experienced it in a dream. For some reason, it carried a sense of regret and dissatisfaction, but the current scene was exactly what he wanted.

[Warning: The target’s satisfaction with the illusion has increased. The illusion’s control over the host has strengthened accordingly.]

Song Ze: “??” Why are you so happy just because the ceremony started!? Shouldn’t you be aloof?!

Then, just as the Elder Prince grasped Song Ze’s hand, the door was suddenly pushed open—

This time, it wasn’t someone interrupting the wedding. At the entrance stood the current head of the Oster family, a stern-looking middle-aged man, followed by Miss Oster with a grave expression.

“This engagement ceremony should not continue.” The middle-aged man spoke harshly, then pulled his daughter forward and looked toward the Elder Prince. “This is all my daughter’s fault. She should not have done such an offensive thing to you, but Your Highness cannot betroth someone of this status out of spite!”

When the Oster family head heard the news, he was so furious he almost coughed up blood. He forcibly dragged his daughter along.

Of course, he believed the Elder Prince could never love a s*ave. This was definitely out of anger with his daughter. Their family’s future engagement with the Elder Prince could not be abandoned. Surely, if they came to apologize and showed their sincerity, the Elder Prince would change his mind.

Under normal circumstances, the Oster family head wouldn’t dare barge into the Elder Prince’s wedding like this. But Song Ze had secretly manipulated things, influencing his emotions, making the head more agitated and rushing over without much thought.

Miss Oster, however, did not follow her father’s words. She just stared intently at Song Ze, and seeing him safe, her expression softened considerably.

She had been afraid that the Elder Prince was doing this to harm Song Ze.

The Elder Prince looked at the Oster family head as if he were a dead man, his gaze ice-cold enough to terrify. “Do you think you’re saying? How dare you disrupt my engagement ceremony…”

The Oster family head suddenly snapped back to reality, as if realizing he had done something irrational. He staggered back a few steps and knelt on the ground. “Your Highness, I was doing this for your reputation!”

Just as his words fell, more than a dozen people suddenly rushed out from the guest seats, confronting the surrounding guards. When the guards tried to resist, they found their strength completely useless, as if the area was covered by an anti-magic formation.

But the troublemakers could still use magic as if nothing had happened. Chaos broke out instantly. Miss Oster looked at her father in disbelief. “Father, y-you would go this far?” When had her cowardly father dared to openly threaten the Elder Prince like this? This was suicide, risking the entire family.

“No, it’s not me—” The Oster family head was stunned. Even if he had ten times the courage, he wouldn’t dare to oppose the Elder Prince like this!

Everyone then realized something was wrong. A middle-aged man stepped out from the crowd, a sneer on his face. “Your Highness, you didn’t expect to encounter something like this on the very day of your engagement ceremony…”

Someone suddenly recognized him. “It’s him! Duke George! His only son once clashed with the Elder Prince and was killed by him… Then this man disappeared without a trace. I never thought he would appear here!”

“That’s right.” Duke George laughed coldly. “Actually, I have to thank the Oster family. If they hadn’t tampered with things to break in, I wouldn’t have had such an easy time controlling this place.”

The Oster family head’s face turned as white as paper, knowing he had caused a disaster.

Song Ze, beside the Elder Prince, breathed a sigh of relief. Things had developed as he thought. Although Duke George originally didn’t have the strength for revenge, Song Ze had influenced him, boosting his power temporarily. It seemed he also got lucky and found something good in the ruins of the gods—a tool that could temporarily suppress magic for those below gods—a very overpowered item (according to the system’s report).

… Such strength probably couldn’t kill the Elder Prince, but it could definitely kill Song Ze! As long as he seized the opportunity, passing the level in one go wouldn’t be a problem.

“Your Highness, when you killed my innocent son, did you ever think today would come!” Duke George’s voice was filled with the pleasure of revenge. “Of course, I won’t kill you. I’ll just make you suffer the same pain as me—losing your beloved!”

Suddenly, everyone’s attention focused on Song Ze.

Song Ze: “…” Why is this sudden burst of shame happening?! Why is the plot so tacky? Even though he had influenced it, when it actually happened, it was still embarrassing!

“Are you talking about that son of yours who tried to forcibly marry another man’s wife in public?” The Elder Prince just looked over coldly. “Innocent?” He scoffed. “I only killed someone who deserved death.”

Song Ze: “??” So that was the reason! Still, although the setting said the Elder Prince was a ruthless person, when Song Ze interacted with him, he found him quite normal. Of course, that was after affection had increased, but before… he felt the Elder Prince had principles, wasn’t someone who killed indiscriminately, even though everyone was terrified of him.

As for when they met in the game, they were enemies—those experiences couldn’t be used for reference.

Now thinking about it, of course the Elder Prince wasn’t a good person, but he wasn’t someone who killed without reason. He might just kill if he didn’t like what someone did, regardless of the trouble it caused… In summary, he was an arbitrary person.

And Idis… that seemingly normal guy was actually the truly ruthless one!

“They were just commoners! A hundred of their lives can’t compare to my son’s!” Duke George was clearly enraged by the Elder Prince’s words. “Quick! Seize that s*ave!”

But his subordinates dared not advance, instinctively fearing the Elder Prince.

“What are you afraid of? Even the Elder Prince can’t use magic now!” Duke George roared.

The subordinates braced themselves and moved forward.

Song Ze couldn’t help but grab the Elder Prince’s hand. He meant to say he was willing to sacrifice himself, blah blah… but before he could utter a single word—

A black shadow flashed, and several of those men instantly had their heads separated from their bodies. In a horrifying manner, their bodies turned to ash, dying completely.

Everyone gasped. Duke George’s face was filled with terror as he looked at the Elder Prince like a monster. “H-How is it possible…”

Then the black shadow landed on the ground—it was a small, agile black cat, looking very cute. No one could imagine that it had caused such cruel deaths.

“Did you think such a thing could trap me?” The Elder Prince sneered, too lazy to mock further. “Since you disrupted my engagement ceremony, you might as well not leave alive.”

Someone like him, even without magic, had countless methods. How could he just sit and wait for death?

All the guests felt that this was only to be expected… How could anything happen to the Elder Prince? Failure seemed impossible for him.

Song Ze: “!!” Oh no, I forgot that the Elder Prince had a sixth-tier magical beast pet! And obviously, the Elder Prince would never do something as low as sacrificing himself!

What followed was obvious. Duke George was quickly dealt with by the Elder Prince’s men. The Oster family head left with a grim face; he was probably traumatized. Miss Oster, though unwilling to leave, still hoped for Song Ze’s happiness. She took one last look at him and hurriedly departed.

The engagement ceremony proceeded smoothly. And just as the formal ceremony was about to begin, Song Ze’s vision went black.

To be honest, he felt relieved—the demon realm’s engagement ceremony was so intense, he never wanted to experience it again.

[Now skipping the plot, directly entering the bad ending.]

Song Ze: “It just tells you it’s the bad ending!”

He complained, and then his vision brightened. The scene unfolded from a god’s perspective, giving the feeling of reaching a game’s ending.

This was in a very grand hall. Based on the architecture and memories from playing the game, Song Ze guessed it was the main hall of the demon realm’s imperial palace.

The scene panned over several demon ministers, finally reaching the top, where a handsome young man stood beside the throne. He wore the ornate and intricate demon king attire, extremely handsome, exuding a noble aura.

It was the Elder Prince.

And beside him—

Before Song Ze could look over, he felt the illusory sensation suddenly vanish. His perspective shifted abruptly from god’s view to first-person.

“Don’t be nervous.”

Song Ze turned at the sound of the voice and immediately met the Elder Prince’s crimson eyes smiling at him. Looking down, he saw… he was wearing the black queen’s robe! This was so embarrassing!

Although the queen’s robe was beautiful, it was women’s clothing!

This bad ending development was after the Elder Prince ascended the throne…

Seeing him so uneasy, the Elder Prince just smiled lightly, took Song Ze’s hand, and made him sit beside him.

Everyone below gasped. Even though they knew the new ruler’s feelings for his beloved, they hadn’t expected him to go this far.

After all, in the demon realm, the throne was a symbol of power. The new demon king’s actions clearly meant giving Song Ze power equal to his own, extremely rare in demon history.

“I will always be with you.”

Song Ze only heard that familiar voice speak softly.

[Bad Ending – The Demon Queen.]

[Loading save…]

—–

When Song Ze opened his eyes again, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Although the Elder Prince’s bad ending wasn’t as heavy as Idis’s, it was still terrifying! And according to this world’s settings, as long as the illusion in the ruins of the gods wasn’t broken, it would never end, trapping the two of them inside forever.

Thinking about being stuck forever with the Elder Prince doing… that… made him feel suffocated. The Elder Prince was quite nice and extremely handsome, but Song Ze could only tolerate temporary… relations! He absolutely wouldn’t give up the entire forest for one tree, especially since that tree was male.

Moreover, this was only an illusion. If he were actually a gay man who liked the Elder Prince, he wouldn’t be content to stay in an illusion forever. If they were to be together, they should do it properly in reality!

After loading the save, Song Ze looked around and quickly recognized the surroundings from the attire laid out—it was the day before the engagement ceremony. That day, servants had brought formal wear for a fitting.

“In that case, it means my chosen direction was right. This is the system’s hint—one day isn’t enough to prepare much… Even though I failed, a few more tries should work.” Song Ze thought. “But what should I change…”

Just then, a few soft meows sounded. A black cat jumped in from the windowsill, looking at Song Ze with some curiosity.

Song Ze paused for a second or two, then suddenly clapped his hands, his eyes lighting up.

“Right! I was thinking wrong before. I don’t have to do it at the engagement ceremony… If I do this, it should definitely work!”
