Chapter 11: Aaaaaaaah!

Standing at the secluded alley entrance, the night wind brushed past her hair with a cool touch.

Su Yuan stared at the pale pink mark beneath her skirt hem, her anxiety growing by the second.

What kind of secret imprint had Bai Shimo left behind?

Different magical imprints required vastly different methods of removal.

To find the root of it, she would have to consult the ancient texts in the demon race’s library.

But that library was hidden in some underground area of Noston City, under the jurisdiction of the Demon Headquarters.

To enter and look through it, she would first need to make a trip back to Headquarters—no short journey.

Su Yuan had no choice but to set this matter aside for now.

Senior Goria’s situation was more pressing.

She looked up at the heavy night sky, hesitated for a moment, then let out a short, crisp whistle toward the heavens.

The whistle rang clear, carrying far through the silent night.

She stood waiting in the dim yellow pool of light cast by the streetlamp.

About five minutes later, the sound of flapping wings reached her.

A jet-black Shadow Crow landed steadily on the lamppost beside her, its beak slightly open, emitting a low caw.

“Any reply from Senior Goria?”

Su Yuan stepped forward quickly, her voice urgent, her gaze fixed intently on the crow.

The crow tilted its head, then slowly shook it, its dark feathers trembling slightly.

Su Yuan’s heart sank instantly.

The light in her eyes dimmed, and she lowered her head in disappointment.

But before she could collect herself, the crow suddenly let out two sharp, piercing “caws.”

Then, a dark-glowing black feather detached from its wing and drifted gently into Su Yuan’s open palm.

Su Yuan froze, then quickly realized this was the crow’s way of delivering a secret message.

She gathered her focus, tossed the black feather lightly into the air, and deftly cast the decoding spell.

A pale golden mana glow enveloped the feather.

The feather, which had been about to fall, suddenly halted midair, faint dark light shimmering at its tip.

Following the pull of the mana, lines of red script slowly emerged—not the gold Su Yuan usually used for her messages.

“This is… an urgent notice from Demon Headquarters?”

Su Yuan’s heart tightened.

She unconsciously held her breath, her fingertips trembling slightly as she glued her eyes to the red text, reading every word carefully.

In less than a minute, after reading the contents, Su Yuan’s pupils contracted sharply.

She clapped a hand over her mouth in shock, stumbling backward several steps.

“No… how could this be?

How could this happen?

Senior Goria was captured…”

She muttered to herself, her mind in chaos.

The message was clear:

The Lord-class succubus Goria of Noston City’s District C had been successfully captured alive by the Human Security Bureau and was now being held in some secret detention facility in Noston City.

The Security Bureau had publicly stated that Goria was currently safe, but had not disclosed the exact location.

They had only declared their intention to use Goria as a hostage to initiate formal negotiations with the demon race.

This would be the first official negotiation between human authorities and non-human races.

Prior to this, the two sides had been locked in a state of mutual hostility and enmity for years—swords drawn, bows bent, with no substantive communication or dialogue whatsoever.

Su Yuan furrowed her brow, a nagging feeling telling her that there was surely some hidden scheme behind all this.

The more she thought, the more anxious she became.

Even though she knew the Security Bureau wouldn’t harm Goria for now, as long as her senior remained in their hands, she was in constant danger—one misstep and she could be lost forever.

She didn’t dare delay a moment longer.

She quickly took a pinch of mana powder from her pocket, dipped her fingertip in it, and wrote rapidly in the air, leaving a petition in her own handwriting.

Then, she waved her hand lightly at the floating feather, transferring the script into it, and blew sharply.

The black feather dissolved into specks of fragmented light, dispersing into the night breeze.

Seeing this, the Shadow Crow let out two more “caws,” flapped its dark wings, and flew off toward the direction of the moonlight.

Su Yuan watched the crow’s departing figure and sighed.

What she had just sent was a petition to volunteer for the rescue mission to save Goria.

Goria was her only tie to this world.

When she had first arrived in Noston City alone—without family, without friends, without anyone to rely on—it was Goria who had taken her in and taught her the ways of demon survival.

To her, Goria was both a caring older sister and a mother who gave her warmth.

This debt of gratitude was one Su Yuan had to repay.

“I hope Senior will be safe…”

Su Yuan whispered a silent prayer in her heart, watching the direction the crow had vanished.

The night wind tugged at her clothes, carrying away her overwhelming worry.

The night grew deeper.

Su Yuan dared not linger.

Following familiar paths, she hurried back to her rented little room.

The moment she pushed open the door, she forced her weary body to channel mana, shedding the flashy, ostentatious “Nana” disguise and reverting to her original lean, delicate form.

With that done, her taut nerves finally relaxed.

Before she could even take off her shoes and socks, she sank heavily into her bedding.

“Sigh… Nana’s identity can’t be used anymore…”

Su Yuan murmured to herself.

Backstage at the concert, she had confronted Bai Shimo in Nana’s form.

Now that her identity was exposed, she would have to spend time crafting a new human disguise just to go out hunting or gathering information again—the thought alone gave her a headache.

Sleep rushed in like a tide, overwhelming her last shreds of consciousness.

She couldn’t fight it anymore.

Her eyes slowly closed.

In her dreams, flashes of Goria’s gentle smile alternated with Bai Shimo’s obsessive stare in the darkness.

Everything was jumbled and chaotic.

The next morning, the first rays of sunlight fell on Su Yuan’s cheeks before she groggily opened her eyes.

She got up and walked to the mirror, staring at the heavy dark circles under her eyes.

She couldn’t help but rub her stiff cheeks.

Once the sun rose, she had to put away all traces of her succubus nature and become that timid, tongue-tied ordinary human girl at Ruis Academy.

She slowly got ready, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and trudged out of her rented room.

To cover the mark on her thigh, she had put on black tights.

Her steps were heavy and dragging as she shuffled to the bus stop, squeezing onto the morning rush-hour bus packed with students.

Only when she reached the familiar gates of Ruis Academy did she freeze in her tracks.

Her groggy mind snapped to full alertness, and her face went pale.

Wait!

She suddenly remembered a crucial detail!

Just yesterday, backstage at the concert venue, she had gone through all those unspeakable entanglements with Bai Shimo!

And now—the moment she pushed open the classroom door—

That magical girl she had defiled, toyed with, and cruelly deceived would be sitting calmly right beside her.

Bai Shimo was now Su Yuan’s desk mate!
