Join the ServerThe stage’s dazzling lights and the audience’s sea of glow sticks were swallowed in that instant by the radiance of the magic formation.
Color and energy alike seemed to have been drained from thin air.
The entire venue sank into an unreal gloom.
Then—
“———!!!”
A piercing alarm exploded through every speaker.
Immediately following was a calm female voice broadcast:
[Warning.
High-concentration magical beast reaction detected at District C Central Venue.
The Security Bureau Magical Disaster Response Center has now activated the highest-level response protocol.]
[Repeat.
Confirmed presence of a “Lord-class” magical beast within the venue.
Initiating emergency lockdown—target locked.]
[All personnel, please remain calm, follow guidance, and immediately evacuate to the emergency exits at the venue’s perimeter.
I repeat, evacuate immediately.]
The cold announcement echoed through the silent venue.
The silence lasted only one second.
“BOOM———!!!”
Panic shattered.
Screams, cries, curses, shoving—the orderly stands of moments before had become a boiling morass in an instant.
People surged toward the exits like a disoriented swarm of ants, some tripping over one another.
Glow sticks and fan merchandise were cast aside, crunching and shattering underfoot.
On stage, the lights had long gone dark.
Goria’s song had ceased abruptly.
She stood frozen at center stage, microphone still in hand.
For the first time, a crack appeared on that flawless face—astonishment, swiftly turning into the affront of outrage.
She looked up.
At the magic barrier hanging over their heads.
There, floating silently, were five figures.
They were bathed in the light shed by the barrier, magic auras entwined around them in resonance with their respective elements, like deities descending from the heavens—a stark, cold contrast to the chaos below.
At the forefront, forming the apex of a triangular formation, stood a girl with tea-brown hair.
Pure white battle attire, with star and wing motifs engraved along the edges of her skirt armor.
In her hand, she held a slender magic staff, the massive sapphire at its tip glowing with a faint, shifting light.
The staff’s tip was aimed steadily at Goria on the stage below.
At that moment, Su Yuan’s pupils contracted sharply.
Her blood seemed to freeze.
Even in different attire, even hovering high above, even wearing an expression of solemn focus she had never seen before—
Those eyes, that face, that silhouette…
It was Bai Shimo.
The transfer student who had just arrived today, who sat beside her, whom she had fled from in panic—the one who “shone so brightly.”
And now—
She was the captain of the magical girl squad, suspended in the sky, controlling the barrier, her gaze locked unwaveringly on the magical beast below.
Code name: Molly.
Bai Shimo gazed down at the crowd jostling and shoving at the exits below, her delicate brows knitting tightly.
A flash of irritation—and evident displeasure—passed through her eyes.
She tilted her head slightly and spoke to a girl beside her, clad in turquoise-green battle attire resembling a newly emerged lotus leaf.
“—Lotus!
Why weren’t the audience evacuated in advance?
The notice should have been issued long ago!”
The girl code-named Lotus wore a slightly helpless smile.
“The notice was issued, Molly.
But District C is too large, and as for the concert’s merchants and venue management… you know how it is.
Until the exact location of the magical beast was confirmed, they weren’t willing to bear the losses from a ‘panic evacuation.’
From the time we received the precise coordinates to setting up the barrier, there was less than a three-minute gap.”
“Damn it!
At a time like this, they’re still only thinking about profits!”
An irate female voice cut in from Molly’s other side.
It was a girl in deep purple battle attire adorned with sharp thorn-like decorations—code name: Thorn.
She twirled two sharp short blades in her hands, her gaze as keen as a blade.
“This isn’t something that’s happened just once or twice,” Lotus said with a wry shake of her head, then turned to look at Molly ahead, her tone softening.
“But as long as Molly is here, we can surely subdue that beast without harming any ordinary people, right?”
“Right, right—leave it to Captain Molly~” A languid, somewhat sleepy-sounding voice chimed in.
The speaker was a girl in soft pink battle attire, her curly hair slightly disheveled, looking half-asleep—code name: Azalea.
She held a slowly spinning crystal ball in her hands, working hard to sustain the critical anchor points of the barrier enveloping the venue.
Molly did not turn around.
Her gaze remained fixed on the singer’s figure on the stage below.
“Azalea, maintain mana output and keep the barrier stable.
Cut off all internal and external energy exchange—prevent the beast from escaping or affecting the outside.”
“Lotus, Thorn, and Sunflower,” she named the other three teammates—including a quiet girl in pale golden battle attire adorned with sun-wheel patterns.
“The three of you, come with me.
Seal the space around the stage and cut off all possible escape routes.”
“Yes!”
“Understood!”
“Leave it to us!”
Several crisp responses.
The sapphire at the tip of Molly’s staff blazed with light.
She cast one final glance at the struggling crowd below, still scrambling to evacuate.
“Move out!”
At her command, the five suspended figures—except for Azalea, who continued maintaining the barrier—descended like four shooting stars streaking across the night sky.
They dove from different angles toward the stage area enveloped by the magic barrier!
The battle entered its white-hot phase in an instant.
A vortex of purple-black energy roiled around Goria, revealing her true form.
She abandoned the microphone, her ten fingers elongating into sharp, jet-black claws.
Yet, against a five-person magical girl squad, she was ultimately outmatched.
Bai Shimo hovered in the air.
The sapphire-adorned staff in her hand flashed once, shifting form into a silver-white longbow flowing with starlight.
The bowstring hummed without wind.
She drew her right hand back—and an arrow of light, condensed entirely from highly concentrated purification mana, materialized in an instant!
Then, the arrow shot forth—and struck Goria’s chest!
In that instant, Su Yuan’s heart clenched as if that very light arrow had pierced through her as well.
“Gah—!”
A piercing scream of agony rang out.
On stage, the succubus in her magnificent performance attire had a scorched, torn wound ripped open at her chest.
Goria staggered back several steps, all color draining from her radiant face.
“Cough…!”
Another mouthful of blood.
Goria glared venomously at the stern-faced Bai Shimo hovering midair, and in the next instant, she made her decision.
Flee!
Drawing on the last wisp of her mana, she summoned a cloud of purple-black mist around her body.
Her form blurred within the haze—and vanished into the darkness below in the span of a breath.
“Senior!”
The words almost burst from Su Yuan’s throat, but she bit her lip hard and swallowed them back.
She could feel it clearly—Goria’s life force was plummeting, destabilizing rapidly, like a candle flickering in the wind.
That arrow had struck her very core!
A demon’s vitality was intrinsically tied to their mana.
With such a severe injury, if she didn’t receive immediate guidance and healing from compatible demonic energy, the collapse of her magic core and complete dissolution were only a matter of time!
She had to save Goria!
Su Yuan had no more time to hesitate.
She dropped her head, clenched her jaw, turned sideways, and pushed against the still-surging tide of evacuees, squeezing her way toward the backstage area.
***
Midair, Lotus flitted back gracefully, hovering beside Bai Shimo.
“It’s fled into the backstage area,” she reported rapidly.
“The energy signature is faint, but it’s continuing to decay.
Pursue?”
“Pursue.”
Bai Shimo’s answer was decisive—but her gaze did not shift toward the direction Goria had disappeared.
“The search and tracking will be handled by you three.
Lotus, area detection.
Thorn, frontal containment.
Sunflower, flank cover.
Beware of a desperate counterattack.”
“Understood!”
Lotus nodded.
Thorn was already impatiently spinning her short blades.
Sunflower gave a silent nod.
“Captain, then what about you…” Lotus suddenly thought of something.
“There’s one more thing I need to confirm.”
Bai Shimo cut her off.
“What is it?
Need backup?”
“No.”
The answer was curt, offering no explanation.
“Just do as I said.
Don’t ask about me.”
Before the words had fully faded, her longbow shifted back into a staff.
Her form dropped like a white meteor, diving toward an obscure side passage slightly off from the search area.
Lotus frowned, watching her captain’s rapidly retreating figure.
This wasn’t Molly’s usual style.
But the orders had been given, and the battle was urgent.
“Let’s go,” she said to Thorn and Sunflower.
“Spread out in a fan formation.
Hold the pattern.”
Three streams of light streaked into the darkness beyond.
***
Bai Shimo’s toes barely brushed the ground before she tapped off again, her figure gliding through the cluttered backstage corridors like the wind.
Most personnel had already been evacuated.
The passageways were eerily quiet, save for the low hum of the barrier in the distance.
Her brow furrowed deeper and deeper.
Just now—in the instant Goria had fallen from that arrow, amid that chaotic, tainted vortex of energy—she had caught a trace of… a familiar presence.
So faint it felt like an illusion.
But there was no mistake.
It was “her.”
The one she had been searching for, for three years.
Her “savior.”
