Chapter 133: A Faux Pas at the Scarlet Feast

Su Liyue’s brow furrowed as she observed Xiao Yun. It was clear from his recent words that he was either deliberately seeking trouble or attempting to ingratiate himself. The moment he spoke, even the nearby guards fell silent, indicating his considerable standing or connections within the auction house. She and her companions had originally intended merely to observe the differences between this magical kingdom’s auction and those of the cultivation world, and perhaps to gauge the potential price of their psychic pills to help plan future expenditures.

However, given the present circumstances, attending this auction seemed increasingly unappealing.

“Never mind, Qingqing, Yunxin, let’s go.” With these words, Su Liyue gently pulled Li Yunxin, who was on the verge of losing her temper.

Li Yunxin was just about to unleash a torrent of colorful expletives when she suddenly felt her hand enveloped by a soft, warm touch.

It was Su Liyue’s hand! The contact instantly doused her fiery temper, leaving her heart brimming with a sweet contentment.

‘As expected of the academy’s top beauty, her hand feels so wonderfully soft!’

This unexpected turn of events, however, completely bewildered Xiao Yun. His original plan had been for the gatekeepers to halt the three girls, allowing him to make a grand, heroic entrance, escorting the three campus belles inside. Wouldn’t that instantly elevate his charm and prestige? Once their acquaintance deepened, wouldn’t winning over any of them be effortless?

Yet, who could have foreseen that Su Liyue would produce an invitation card? Realizing his scheme had gone awry, he hastily rushed forward, positioning himself before the trio, enacting the scene he believed to be flawlessly executed.

“Wait!” Seeing the three truly preparing to depart, Xiao Yun quickly stepped in front of Su Liyue.

“Actually… I can still get you inside!” He forced a semblance of composure, his face twisting into what he imagined was a charming smile.

Li Yunxin narrowed her eyes, instantly seeing through Xiao Yun’s transparent ploy.

Her expression turned frigid, her voice sharp as ice. “Xiao Yun, I’m warning you. If you know what’s good for you, get out of our way!”

Witnessing his elaborate scheme teetering on the brink of failure, yet unwilling to surrender his pride, he stubbornly pressed on.

“Student Yunxin, please don’t misunderstand. I merely wished to escort you inside for a tour. After all, this Scarlet Feast auction boasts an array of treasures guaranteed to astonish you!”

Observing the persistent Xiao Yun, Su Liyue’s expression darkened considerably. Though numerous eyes watched them within the auction house, with her male physique’s capabilities, making someone vanish from the premises without a trace would pose no challenge whatsoever.

Just as the tension reached a glacial peak.

CRACK!

A blur of motion, and Li Yunxin had instantly appeared before Xiao Yun.

Her slender, pale palm seemed to push out with effortless grace, yet it contained a terrifying, explosive force.

Xiao Yun felt as if lightning had struck his chest. He was sent sprawling backward, crashing violently into a decorative fountain ten meters away, sending water cascading in all directions.

The surrounding onlookers gasped collectively.

‘Could such prowess truly belong to a mere young girl? Her speed and strength were utterly comparable to those of a magical beast!’

Xiao Yun lay sprawled amidst the wreckage, his mind a complete blank.

Gazing at the petite figure casually flexing her wrist, he experienced, for the first time, the terrifying power Li Yunxin wielded—a power capable of felling a Gold-tier magical beast.

“You… you monstrous woman!” Xiao Yun struggled to rise, only to find several ribs shattered. He could do little more than flop about in the fountain pool like a dying fish.

Realizing he was utterly immobilized, he completely shed his pretense.

“Bastard! Do you know who my father is?!”

Li Yunxin sauntered over to him, and in a pleasant, unhurried tone, delivered her retort.

“Unless your father is Li Gang, I suggest you spare us the details.”

“Li Gang? What nonsense! My father is Xiao Zhang! One of the elders of the Scarlet Feast! If you dare offend our Xiao family, we’ll ensure you can’t take a single step in the imperial capital!” Xiao Yun’s face burned crimson with fury.

Li Yunxin almost burst into laughter. ‘Well, well, so his father’s name sounds like “Arrogant”? No wonder this fellow is so utterly asking for a beating.’

Feigning sudden realization, she nodded. “My apologies, my deepest apologies. So you’re the young master of the Arrogant family? No wonder…”

Before she could finish, a large contingent of fully armed guards suddenly poured out from the main gates of the auction house, causing the throng of onlookers to recede like a retreating tide.

Leading them was a burly, middle-aged man with a fleshy face, his arrogant bearing a spitting image of a middle-aged Xiao Yun. He was, undoubtedly, the legendary Xiao Zhang himself.

Xiao Zhang had been contentedly perusing the day’s auction list, calculating his potential earnings in gold coins.

His son, Xiao Yun, having secured second place in practical combat at Starry Sky Academy, had brought him immense pride.

Today was supposed to be a day of double celebration.

“R-report, Elder! The young master… he was beaten at the main entrance!” A guard burst in, breathless and frantic.

“What?!” The ledger clutched in Xiao Zhang’s hand clattered to the floor.

He shot to his feet, his face instantly turning a menacing shade of ashen green.

“Who dares to be so audacious?!”

“It’s… it’s three young girls…”

“Young girls?!” Xiao Zhang’s beard bristled with fury, and he slammed his palm onto the rosewood table before him.

On the very grounds of the Scarlet Feast, someone dared to lay a hand on his son, Xiao Zhang? And to be beaten by a mere slip of a girl? If word of this spread, how would he ever face anyone again? Where would the auction house’s authority stand?

“Arm yourselves! Follow me!” Xiao Zhang roared, leading over twenty fully armed guards who charged towards the main entrance, radiating a palpable killing intent.

He would see for himself which ignorant, pampered young lady dared to provoke him, Xiao Zhang, the very embodiment of authority!

From a distance, he spotted his son sprawled miserably in the decorative fountain, surrounded by a throng of curious onlookers.

And the young girl standing nearby was actually chatting and laughing?!

Xiao Zhang’s blood pressure skyrocketed; he trembled with incandescent rage, his stubby finger jabbing accusingly at Li Yunxin.

“You brazen, ignorant wretch! State your family name! I’ll personally discover which household raised such a spoiled, unruly girl, daring to assault my son, Xiao Zhang, on the very territory of the Scarlet Feast!”

With each word he uttered, the flabby flesh on his face quivered, making him resemble an enraged toad.

Behind him, more than twenty guards simultaneously brandished their weapons, their gleaming staves and longswords menacingly aimed at the three young women.

The surrounding nobles murmured amongst themselves. Several had already recognized Xiao Zhang, and their gazes toward Li Yunxin instantly filled with pity. In the Aetherland Empire, one could offend anyone but this influential elder who managed the largest auction house!

Li Yunxin, however, merely pouted dismissively. After all, this was a prime opportunity for her to showcase her abilities in front of the two campus belles.
