Chapter 123: What Remains Unsaid

As Wooju ran back into the building, Jitae was naturally left standing beside Saetbyeol.

With one person gone, the awkward atmosphere doubled.

What do college students even like to talk about? You’d only know if you had actually gone to college.

Jitae ran through various thoughts in his head, but with his lack of social skills, always wearing a mask when dealing with people, and never having personally led a conversation in private, it inevitably felt like quite a difficult problem.

“You know.”

“Hm?”

At that moment, unexpectedly, Saetbyeol spoke first.

“Actually, I don’t have any plans.”

“Huh? Then why…….”

So she had refused when he offered to buy her a meal?

“Just… I don’t know. It felt like I was getting in the way between you two…….”

At Saetbyeol’s words, Jitae’s expression slowly stiffened.

Getting in the way.

That wasn’t a word that fit between ordinary friends.

Jitae had deliberately tried to make it seem like he and Wooju were just normal friends so she wouldn’t misunderstand.

Since she already knew they had filmed a variety show together, he thought that even if they acted a bit close, she would just assume they had gotten close during filming.

“You know, I saw you once before, when I was in middle school. Near our house.”

Near the house? Jitae tilted his head, unable to recall immediately.

“That was probably when Kang Wooju got a grade 9 on a mock exam and was crying… You were watching him the whole time while he was alone crying at the playground, right?”

Ah.

Only then did Jitae remember, letting out a quiet sound.

That meant yes.

He didn’t remember the situation in detail, but after somehow finding out that Wooju had gotten a terrible score on an exam he had worked hard for, Jitae had gone to his house out of concern.

And he had seen Wooju sitting on a swing, quietly crying by himself.

“At first, I thought you came to tease him again, but looking at your expression, it wasn’t like that at all. You looked like you were worried sick. I still remember it.”

Was it because he was handsome that she remembered?

Saetbyeol chuckled playfully.

“Saetbyeol, that……”

Jitae needed to explain things properly.

Just as he was about to speak so she wouldn’t misunderstand, Saetbyeol suddenly raised her palm and stopped him.

“It’s fine. Even if he’s family, I don’t really want to know about my brother’s private life that deeply. What I wanted to say is……”

At that moment, the glass door opened, and Wooju came striding down the stairs, wallet in hand.

“It looks nice, though. Seeing you two together again.”

Before Jitae could react to her words, Wooju approached.

When he asked what they were talking about, Saetbyeol simply replied, “Talking bad about you.”

As the siblings started bickering again, a taxi with a sign slowly entered the complex.

“Kang Saetbyeol, whatever’s left after the taxi fare, keep it or don’t.”

Wooju placed four yellow bills into her hand.

As she happily accepted the pocket money without hesitation, Wooju told her to at least pretend to refuse.

“Jitae oppa.”

“Hm?”

Saetbyeol got into the back seat and rolled down the window.

“Anyway, good luck. My brother’s completely clueless, so I think you’ll have a hard time.”

“Hey, what did you say?”

Saetbyeol flashed her middle finger brightly at Wooju before quickly rolling the window back up.

Watching the taxi slowly leave the complex, Jitae thought to himself.

Just as she said, her brother really was clueless, and because of that, he had suffered a lot.

But now, it was okay.

Something had already happened to him that made up for all that suffering.

“She didn’t say anything weird, right? She’s not the type to read the room, so sometimes she just says whatever comes to mind.”

“Not really. She was kind of cute.”

“Cute? Her?”

Jitae realized something.

Both siblings made the exact same expression when they heard positive compliments about each other.

Saetbyeol’s expression earlier when Wooju was praised, and Wooju’s expression now—they were very similar.

Looking at them like this, they really did resemble each other quite a bit.

Their gentle eyes, their smooth skin, and even their lower faces were almost identical.

“Why are you grinning like that?”

Wooju narrowed his eyes and pinched Jitae’s cheek.

“Just… maybe because I’m an only child, it’s nice seeing you two together.”

As he tugged and gently rubbed Jitae’s soft cheek, Wooju’s hand slowly fell.

“I wish I had a sibling too. Then I wouldn’t feel so lonely.”

Jitae said they should go inside since it was hot and started walking toward the stairs first.

Watching Jitae’s back as he slowly walked away as if nothing was wrong, Wooju couldn’t help but fall into thought again.

Kang Wooju X Won Jitae Anonymous Chat

[Did everyone read the magazine?]

Mine got delivered, but I haven’t opened it yet.

But what’s with this thickness? I’ve never bought a magazine before—is it supposed to be this thick?

  • It’s thick even for a magazine, I was surprised too

└ You can tell Muse& had way too much fun making it

  • Mine arrived too but I’m outside so I can’t check yetㅠㅠ I want to go home and read it
  • I read it and there’s some insane stuff in there

└ Insane? Like their faces?

└└ That too, but there’s one thing in the content that’s crazy, I literally shouted out loud while reading

  • Open it quickly, especially Jitae’s interview—it’s amazing

[What about Won Jitae?]

He really did that interview himself, right?

Isn’t that basically a love confession? My heart is shaking

  • I read that part and felt like I got hit in the back of the head
  • I was reading happily and suddenly went “Wait, really? Seriously?” out loud

└ For realㅋㅋㅋㅋ it felt like watching a movie plot twist

  • What is it, what is it? I couldn’t buy it because it sold outㅠㅠ why is everyone freaking out

└ To summarize, in the interview, Jitae talks about his volleyball days and says the reason he started volleyball, found a dream, and even saw life as beautiful was all because of Kang Wooju

└└ Seriously? That’s insane—is that real?

└└└ Yeah, I read it too. He said he learned countless emotions through Wooju

  • So basically… Wooju was Jitae’s sky

[So in summary]

Won Jitae and Kang Wooju met in elementary school, one was saved through volleyball because of the other, they became rivals, one quit due to injury, and then they reunited on a variety show after 7 years?

  • Isn’t this literally a drama plot?

└ Even dramas would get criticized for being too much

  • It seems like Wooju didn’t even remember their first meeting, this is like a movie

└ Then when did Wooju think they first met?

└└ In middle school apparently. The magazine says they remember it differently

  • The fact that they both succeeded and met again on TV is the highlight
  • I didn’t even know Jitae quit because of an injuryㅠㅠ

└ I think this is the first time he’s talked about it

└└ Yeah, this is the first time he explained why he quit

  • Honestly, I respect Jitae so much. If it were me, I would’ve given up after not being able to play sports anymore, but he debuted as a model and became a top actor

└ Seriously, that kind of mentality isn’t normal

  • Now I understand why Jitae was looking at Wooju with such affection during the show
  • Saying he would still play volleyball even if he got injured again… that just feels like love

└ Because that’s how he could meet Wooju again……

  • I thought they were immature because they argued childishly on the show, but after reading the interview, I ended up crying

[Best quote of the year]

That’s right. That is Kang Wooju.

  • Imagining the expression he said that with is driving me crazy
  • That line made my heart race
  • Having even one friend like Kang Wooju would mean a successful life

└ But for Jitae, Wooju isn’t just a friend—he’s his whole world and light

└└ Here come the overly immersed fans

  • Read the magazine and then rewatch the show—it’s even better

└ Oh wow, that makes sense

└└ Thanks for the tip, starting from episode 1 now

The magazine was successfully released and, within that month, rose to No.1 bestseller in both offline and online bookstores.

The show and the relationship between the two were already a hot topic, but this magazine had poured even more fuel onto the fire.

In particular, Jitae’s interview revealed parts of his past that he had never shared as an actor—namely, that he had once been a promising volleyball player and the reason he quit.

Along with that, the previously unknown story between Wooju and Jitae drew massive attention.

It was already widely known that Won Jitae and Kang Wooju had known each other since their school days and maintained a rivalry through volleyball.

But what Jitae revealed showed another side of that relationship.
