A wind had risen in the square, though Eve knew not when. With the chilling breeze, an ethereal, indifferent female voice drifted into her ears.
“What are you doing?”
“Ugh!”
Eve’s entire body trembled at the words, a wave of goosebumps rising over her skin. She nearly leaped from the spot in fright.
It wasn’t that Eve was particularly cowardly.
Only recently, she had been terrified by the gaze of a group of undead. Now, in the dead of night, alone in the center of a cemetery square, she suddenly heard someone ask what she was doing from behind her.
Fortunately, Eve herself was already undead, her heart no longer capable of beating. With such excellent psychological resilience, she felt she would have had a heart attack otherwise!
As if in a state of shock, Eve spun around, clutching the flag tightly to her chest, and warily looked in the direction of the voice.
There stood a stunningly beautiful young woman. Her golden hair, like a waterfall, was strikingly luminous in the darkness, and her crystal-blue eyes were fixed intently on Eve, as if comparing something.
Her figure was equally exceptional; even the wide, white robes of a Saintess could not conceal her proud assets.
Yet, for some unknown reason, a strong sense of danger surged within Eve. She had no inclination for admiration, and her feet instinctively retreated a step.
‘Escape! I must flee as quickly as possible!’
‘If this person sets her sights on me… I will surely die!’
This perception of danger was like the survival instinct triggered in a creature encountering its natural predator.
Eve no longer cared about any tasks or missions; preserving her life was paramount. Seeing that the other party seemed distracted, she decisively leaped off the flag platform and ran.
The only thing that could give her a sense of security now was her coffin.
Thankfully, she had already memorized the direction, otherwise finding her coffin in such a vast cemetery would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
‘As long as I can reach that place…’
‘I’ll be safe!’
However, before Eve could even run out of the square, a wall of light materialized, blocking her path.
Bang—
Running too fast to stop, Eve inevitably collided with the light wall, embedding herself in it like a spread-eagled “大” character.
Fortunately, an undead body is almost immune to pain; her head just felt a little dizzy.
Eve clutched her head, swaying back a few steps. Once she recovered and saw the surrounding light walls clearly, she realized her escape route had been sealed off.
Unfazed footsteps echoed from behind her.
Eve turned, her back against the light wall, and watched as the other woman approached with graceful steps. Every movement, every gesture, was utterly elegant and sacred.
‘Is that woman treating this like a game of cat and mouse!?’
Eve swallowed hard, gathering her courage. With a ‘milk-fierce’ expression, she declared, “I-I’m warning you! If you come any closer, I won’t be polite!”
‘The little undead has used a ‘skill’! It’s a bluff!’
‘Able to intimidate enemies with fierce and evil movements!’
The effect was less than ideal.
The young woman before her, possessing a far greater evil, was completely immune to her intimidation and continued to approach step by step.
‘Wuwu… what should I do? She’s not scared at all!’
‘Damn it!’
‘Don’t underestimate me!’
‘Even if I’m just a low-level, un-promoted, inexperienced little undead, I’ll bite if pushed too far!’

Just then, a system pop-up appeared, boosting Eve’s confidence. She directed her gaze towards the data now tagged onto the sacred young woman before her.
[Enemy Unit: Alice (Lv.100)]
[Class: Priest]
[Physique: 90]
[Spirit: 240 (Max)]
[Agility: 90]
[Strength Rating: S- (Second only to deities)]
“H-How… much?”
Eve was dumbfounded. The fighting spirit that had just ignited instantly extinguished.
She then called up her own basic three-dimensional panel.
[Eve Wells (Lv.10)]
[Class: None]
[Physique: 9]
[Spirit: 5]
[Agility: 7]
[Strength Rating: E (Quality mass-produced cannon fodder)]
“This *sweet* difference is just too much!”
Eve finally understood where the constant, active sense of crisis she felt was coming from.
Her highest individual attribute, Physique, was barely a tenth of the other’s, and her Spirit attribute was miles behind!
How could she possibly fight? With what could she fight?
If she resisted, she would surely be instantly killed!
The system’s prompt also appeared at a timely moment.
[Enemy data analysis complete. Current combat environment rated Nightmare difficulty. Player may cease resistance and choose a dignified method of death.]
‘I’ve already been condemned to death!’
As the young woman continued to approach, Eve, who had little confidence and was already greatly disheartened, instantly broke down. She cowered in the corner, trembling, “Y-You… don’t come any closer! QAQ”
Eve hadn’t intended to cry, but the pervasive sense of danger throughout her body had materialized, condensing into tears that now welled from her eyes.
Seeing the other party step close enough to reach out, Eve squeezed her eyes shut completely.
A montage of her brief journey in this other world flashed through her mind like a dying man’s vision.
‘Was she really going to bid farewell so soon, ending this new life?’
In that moment, Eve thought despairingly.
Yet, the death she anticipated never came.
“Do I scare you so much?”
Alice leaned down, using her fair, slender hand to lift Eve’s chin, making her meet her gaze.
Eve opened her eyes, gazing at the stunning face almost within reach. She instinctively nodded, but quickly reacted and frantically shook her head.
Alice, however, paid no mind to Eve’s reaction. She simply observed and scrutinized her, again and again.
“You haven’t changed a bit…”
“Eve.”
Hearing her name, Eve stiffened. She weakly asked, “H-How do you know my name? Could it be… you know me?”
Then Eve watched as the young woman before her suddenly smiled, as if in relief. “…Of course, from when you were alive as a human.”
“Perhaps you haven’t realized it yourself, but you have actually been resurrected as an undead through dark magic, and you no longer possess your memories from before death.”
“But don’t worry, I will help you recall those past memories.”
As she spoke the last sentence, Alice became exceptionally serious.
Just now, she had made a decision.
She would ensure Eve survived, transforming her from an undead back into her former human self, helping her remember all the memories they shared.
Even if there were no precedents or related magic in the scriptures…
Nothing was utterly impossible.
‘No matter the cost, I will make you remember, Lady Eve!’
She cradled the face before her, a face that remained clear in her memory despite hundreds of years, and secretly made her resolve.
Meanwhile, the little undead gulped, a sound audible in the quiet. In her eyes, this Priestess stared at her with an intense, undisguised gaze that felt terrifying…
‘Actually, clearing my mind, forgetting old memories, and living as a carefree undead sounds pretty good…’
Eve mumbled softly.
Unexpectedly, Alice’s face immediately hardened at her words.
She released Eve’s chin, straightened up, and after walking two steps away, she paused. Slightly turning her face, her crystal-blue pupils, reflecting the cold moonlight, glimmered with chilling intent. “Do you know, Eve? I have now become a Saintess, bearing the responsibility for the world’s order and the duty to cleanse all evil and wickedness.”
“If you choose to forget your past memories, willingly degenerating to live as an undead…”
“Then you must forgive me, for I will purify your body and soul with holy light.”
As she spoke, she opened her scripture, raised her hand, and unleashed holy light upon an undead that had strayed into the square nearby.
Eve watched, wide-eyed, as that undead bathed in the holy light, then disintegrated into dust. Her entire body shivered instantly, and she immediately caved. “Actually! Actually! I suddenly feel that my memories from before death must be very important to me! How could I possibly forget them like that!”
“So, Saintess Miss, no! Saintess-sama! Please, you must help me recall my past experiences!”
Alice closed her scripture at Eve’s words, putting her hands behind her back. The coldness in her eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a playful smile capable of charming thousands. “I knew you would make the correct choice.”
“Since you’ve decided, then let’s sleep together in my room tonight, Eve-chan~”
Eve froze.
“Eh?”
“Eh??!”
