X
It proved true: Wennya was utterly unsuited for cooking.
Eve confirmed this after attempting to prepare a dish of chilled slime mucus with herbs herself. The problem, she realized, was not the ingredients.
Facing a dejected Wennya, Eve considered her words of comfort. She stepped forward and gently patted the other girl’s head.
“It’s alright. Just being able to heat milk is impressive enough. Wennya is truly wonderful.”
According to Wennya, the only culinary task she could accomplish without mishap was heating milk.
Upon hearing Eve’s comforting words, the optimistic and cheerful Wennya brightened considerably. She realized she did, in fact, possess a special skill.
Her spirits instantly revitalized, she vowed to prepare plenty of fresh, warm milk for her Lady Eve at every opportunity.
Though the vow sounded peculiar, Eve nodded with relief, pleased that Wennya had recovered her cheerful demeanor.
To distract Wennya from the evening’s culinary disaster, Eve decided they would share the coffin tonight. She would comfort her little maid with her own broad, warm embrace—though the ‘warmth’ remained questionable.
Deep night settled. With a soft thud, the coffin lid sealed, and the vast grassland gradually fell silent.
This profound quiet endured through the latter half of the night, only to be abruptly shattered.
****
Across the grassland, a figure cloaked in dark crimson raced desperately beneath the moon.
It was a young woman, adorned in an extravagant Gothic gown. As she ran, the black and red train of her dress trailed behind her, unleashing dense, mist-like crimson magic.
Her waterfall of silver hair billowed wildly in the wind.
A colossal slime pursued her relentlessly.
The commotion of their chase startled countless slimes hidden within the grass.
They blinked their adorable, wide eyes, gazing with confusion at their two masters, who were so lively and awake in the dead of night.
Perhaps too engrossed in her frantic escape, the young woman failed to notice a certain coffin resting silently on the prairie.
And so…
CRASH—
The silver-haired young woman tripped over the coffin, tumbling a dozen times before finally landing with a splat, prone on the ground.
The fall itself brought no physical pain to the young woman.
Yet, she clutched her head, grasping her silver hair, and curled into a ball on the ground. A look of agonizing struggle marred her exquisitely beautiful face.
She appeared fragile and utterly pitiable.
“No… no… I’m not… I’m not some Demon Lord! Get out of my head, now!”
“Get out!!!”
The next moment, the young woman cradled her head and slammed it violently against the ground.
BOOM—
A terrifying surge of crimson magical energy instantly swept across hundreds of miles of grassland. Countless adorable slimes were flung skyward by the torrent, and even the colossal slime pursuing the young woman couldn’t resist its force, being pushed back a considerable distance.
Where the earth had been directly struck, a gigantic crater formed, centered on the young woman. From within this chasm, countless dark currents of crimson magic emanated.
Even after such an impact, not a single scratch appeared on the young woman’s body. Instead, her opulent gown seemed to grow, its train extending into an even longer, blood-red magical skirt.
Stumbling to her feet within the crater, the young woman stared blankly at the destructive masterpiece she had created.
THUD—
She collapsed to her knees once more, covering her face with her hands. Tears streamed uncontrollably, seeping ceaselessly through her fingers.
“Why… why has it come to this…?”
“I don’t want this power that killed everyone…”
High above, the silver full moon began to glow with a reddish hue. Across the prairie, the young woman’s trembling, helpless sobs echoed in solitude.
****
“Sleeping until I naturally wake up!”
“It’s truly wonderful!”
After a night of blissful sleep, cradling her little maid, Eve sprang from her coffin, utterly refreshed. She stretched her delicate form luxuriantly.
However, when Eve opened her eyes, the vibrant smile on her face froze. She stared, wide-eyed and dumbfounded, at the scene before her.
The grassland where they had camped last night had, at some point, transformed into a massive crater. The landscape was utterly ravaged, covered in dark crimson scorched earth.
“Uh… did I transmigrate again?”
Eve mumbled, utterly bewildered, then leaped from her coffin and clambered out of the deep crater, navigating the scorched earth.
Outside, the grassland stretched endlessly.
‘Hmm, it seemed she hadn’t transmigrated.’
It was merely that the spot where her coffin rested looked as though it had been struck by a meteor.
“What exactly happened last night?”
Eve recalled that the system supposedly had a history log function. She hastily scrolled through the previous night’s system notifications.
Good heavens, she hadn’t known what she was missing until she looked—and then she was utterly stunned.
[You have approached the Source of Calamity. The effects of the Calamity Domain will continue to rapidly intensify.]
[Newbie Village Protection Mechanism Activated.]

[Magical energy erosion from Fionn Cassius, Child of Calamity, has been repelled.]
[Detection confirms: All attacks originating from target Fionn Cassius were collateral damage and did not attempt to enter the Newbie Village. Defensive mechanisms will not be triggered at this time.]
‘The Source of Calamity in the Calamity Domain…’
‘Isn’t that the Demon Lord?’
Eve belatedly gasped, a sharp intake of breath. “Hiss… So, the Demon Lord passed by last night and even kicked my coffin?”
In Eve’s imagined scenario, the Demon Lord had just awakened and was still weak, so they sought to assemble a powerful Demon Lord army. Following the scent of magical creatures, they stumbled upon Eve’s coffin.
Unable to open it, the Demon Lord angrily kicked the coffin before moving on to find other monsters.
However, as the saying goes: ‘A moment of patience brings calm, but a step back only fuels resentment.’
Thus, after only a few steps, the Demon Lord recalled how a mighty Demon Lord such as themselves couldn’t even open a mere coffin. This realization enraged them, causing them to wail and throw a tantrum. ‘Oh, how pitiful!’
And that’s what led to the magical energy rampage.
Alas, even through all that, her coffin remained as unyielding as a mountain in a storm.
Eve felt her guess must be quite close to the truth. Aside from her imagined weeping and tantrum, this was likely everything that transpired last night.
‘Otherwise, how could one explain the coffin being kicked by a Demon Lord?’
‘It couldn’t possibly be that they weren’t watching where they were going and tripped over the coffin, could it?’
‘Hey, hey, this is a Demon Lord!’
‘How could they possibly trip on flat ground like some clumsy loli?!’
‘Wait… what if the Demon Lord *is* a clumsy loli? Didn’t the description of the Calamity Domain say they were still in their nascent stage?’
‘But then again, why does this feel like that déjà vu moment when you’re slacking off and sleeping at your desk right in front of your boss, and they can’t do anything about it?’
For a moment, Eve’s mind raced. Finally, she glanced out at the prairie once more. Seeing no living creatures, she returned to her coffin.
Eve decided she ought to leave the Xigelili Great Prairie.
‘While the Demon Lord might indeed be a clumsy loli, my current allegiance is to the Demon Lord Army,’ she mused. ‘If I were to meet this clumsy loli Demon Lord and be forcibly conscripted into her ranks, then dragged along to destroy the world…’
‘How would I ever meet Alice for our appointment?’
‘Would we be on opposing sides of a battlefield?’
Therefore, Eve resolved to pack her coffin and make a quick escape immediately.
