Chapter 89: A Painless End and a Miraculous Arrival

‘She truly is a monstrous demon!’

‘She wants to kill us all!’

‘Help! Someone save me! I don’t want to die yet!’

Regardless of the elves’ frantic screams and desperate attempts to flee, the gray hand on the clock face continued its inexorable sweep to the next mark. At that very instant, a suffocating grip seemed to seize everyone’s throats.

That clock face…

It was draining their very life force!

General McAs leaned against a tree, his back drenched in cold sweat. Even after centuries of life, he had never witnessed such magic. Yet, the aura of destruction emanating from it was unmistakable.

Indeed! Only those lunatics who had fallen into the abyss, their minds warped by the Goddess of Finality, could wield such terrifying power!

At that moment, Yulim Wilivia stepped out from the scorched earth, her sword pointed at everyone. A wild, cruel smile stretched across her face. “Come on! Try to kill me!”

“Hahahaha—*cough*…”

The girl’s laughter dissolved into a sudden, copious cough of blood. Her body swayed, and her formidable aura wavered for a brief moment.

Yet, her smile never faded. She casually wiped the blood from her lips, as a pair of gray elf wings unfurled from her back, lifting her into the sky.

Her gaze swept over the elves below, finally settling on General McAs.

*Clang—*

The tip of her sword pointed directly at him.

“I know you are the strongest here. You wish to live, and you wish for everyone else to live too!”

“So, you have but one chance now!”

“Kill me with the sword in your hand, and the Clock of the Apocalypse will cease its turning!”

“Then all of you will survive!”

Her voice echoed through the forest. Valorman’s eyes widened, and he shot up from the ground, pointing at Yulim Wilivia in the sky. “Who are you looking down on?! Look at me! I am the Elf Prince! I am the strongest one here! What kind of skill is it to bully an old man like him, you demon?!”

“If you dare, if you dare, then face me in an honorable duel! You trash!”

Valorman’s shouts were fierce, but his legs trembled just as fiercely.

He had no idea where he found the courage to utter such reckless words.

However, seeing Yulim Wilivia aim her sword at General McAs, only one thought consumed his mind.

Anyone else could die! But that old man absolutely could not fall to her blade!

Valorman swallowed hard, then yelled towards General McAs, “Don’t mind me, old man! I’m a genius who won ten consecutive championships in the Elf Forest’s archery competition! I can shoot that monster down with a single arrow! Witness my heroic might as the Elf Prince!”

“Demon! Die!”

With that, Valorman drew his bow, aimed at the girl in the sky, and unleashed a swift arrow. But before it could even draw near, it was swallowed by gray flames.

His posture, it must be said, was incredibly dashing. His damage, however, was precisely zero.

Valorman, enraged, slammed his bow to the ground.

“I’m seriously annoyed by you guys with your innate domains!”

It was the same with that blue-haired girl a year ago, and it was the same with this monster now!

His arrows were like mere twigs, perishing the moment they drew close.

Not a single bit of damage could be dealt!

How was a bowman like him supposed to fight a demon?

He didn’t want to play anymore!

Meanwhile, Yulim Wilivia in the sky was indeed drawn to the arrow.

Upon seeing who the presumptuous attacker was, the smile on her face became even brighter and more radiant.

“It’s you! Hahahaha!”

Valorman: ‘????’

‘Sister, what’s with that expression, as if you’ve seen an old acquaintance?’

‘Are we really that close?’

Even though she was smiling, Valorman felt goosebumps erupting all over his body, every pore screaming a warning of danger.

Valorman wanted to run, but his body stubbornly froze in place, unable to move. He could only watch, helpless, as the girl raised her sword high.

“Die!”

‘It seems…’

‘This is how it ends…’

‘My vibrant life…’

Valorman peacefully closed his eyes. For some reason, he felt that his entire life had never been so light.

‘Old man, you must live…’

*Thud—*

A sound of flesh being torn. Valorman assumed his body was being ripped apart by sword energy.

However, the anticipated pain never came.

‘Could that demon even grant a painless death?’

Realizing something was amiss, Valorman opened his eyes to witness an utterly shocking scene.

In mid-air, the old man and the girl, both with their elf wings unfurled, held their swords, each having impaled the other through the chest.

General McAs coughed up blood, staring at Yulim Wilivia in disbelief. “You clearly… could have dodged…”

Yulim Wilivia, with dried blood still clinging to her lips, simply gazed at the old man. “General McAs, you could have lived as well.”

General McAs paused, then belatedly offered a faint, regretful smile.

Ignoring the gray flames igniting from the wound in his chest, he used his calloused hands to gently cup the girl’s face. His gaze, as gentle as if looking at his own child, was filled with kindness. “I’m sorry… child, I harmed you…”

The gray flames surged, instantly consuming the old man’s form.

“No! Old man—!”

Amidst Valorman’s tear-filled roar, the distant figure slowly turned their head.

He smiled within the fire, gazing tenderly at Valorman, but spoke no more, dissolving into ash within the gray flames.

The pair of green elf wings on his back completely disintegrated in the air, transforming into scattered specks of green light. They drifted down with the gray flames, like falling leaves returning to their roots, settling into the verdant forest floor.

Meanwhile, Yulim Wilivia coughed up another mouthful of blood. The golden clock face behind her shimmered, became illusory, and finally dissolved.

Her body swayed in mid-air before she began to freefall, weak and powerless, plummeting towards the ground.

After snapping several tree branches, Yulim Wilivia hit the earth, creating a small crater.

The girl was covered in wounds. Blood flowed from the knight’s sword piercing her chest, trickling onto the ground. The pain radiating from every part of her body caused her to twitch intermittently.

‘It hurts so much…’

‘All my bones feel broken…’

Yulim Wilivia was numb, yet a smile touched her lips.

After leaving the Cursed Lands, her consciousness had somewhat recovered.

Originally, she could have chosen to kill everyone who had cursed her, then returned to Xielan to fulfill her promise.

But Yulim Wilivia had not done so.

Beyond the inherent kindness in her heart, she was mostly uncertain whether the person returning to Xielan would be her original self, or a monster driven by the curse, endlessly perpetrating slaughter.

At that point, even Sister Anna might not be willing to accept someone with countless lives and blood on her hands…

‘So…’

‘Dying like this… is fine…’

‘As long as I die…’

‘I won’t cause trouble for anyone else…’

Her life force steadily drained, and all sensation slowly faded from her body.

Yulim Wilivia wanted to close her eyes, to quietly await her death, but she realized she hadn’t closed them for so long that she no longer had the strength or ability to do so.

Valorman, upon realizing the truth of General McAs’s death, completely lost his mind, letting out a furious roar. “Find that monster!”

“I’ll kill her!”

“No… killing her a thousand times wouldn’t be enough!”

Slowly, the sound of hurried footsteps drew near.

But Yulim Wilivia could no longer clearly see who was coming; she only knew they were pointing their weapons at her, immobile on the ground.

A life for a life—Yulim Wilivia had long accepted this fate.

‘But…’

‘Sister Anna…’

‘Valorman…’

‘I really am so unwilling, sniffle…’

‘I wish… I wish I could see you both one last time, and fulfill the final, unkept promise…’

Crystal tears rolled down the girl’s cheeks.

A cold wind swept through, and the tears froze into ice.

Everyone suddenly shivered.

Finally, someone noticed the anomaly. Why had it suddenly grown so cold?

Even the intense heat radiating from the Godslayer Sword could not overcome this sudden chill.

“Twilight has arrived…”

A soft murmur, imbued with boundless coldness, drifted down from above.

Looking up, they could only glimpse a blue shooting star streaking across the sky. The next moment, a deep gully was carved into the ground before them, utterly disrupting the elves’ formation.

Once the dust settled,

A maiden appeared, enveloped in swirling blue magical currents. Her crystalline blue hair fluttered, and her legs had transformed into sharp blades, resembling a pair of scissors.

Behind her, she carried a magnificent silver coffin.

The oppressive aura emanating from this strangely shaped maiden was no less formidable than that of the girl who came before.

However, this oppressive feeling did not last long. The maiden’s aura dispersed, and her legs returned to their normal form.

The maiden casually tossed the coffin she carried onto the ground, then quickly fled the scene of impact, running instead to the girl in the other small crater.

Yulim Wilivia felt as though she was hallucinating.

As she neared unconsciousness, she seemed to hear a familiar voice, drawing closer, calling her name.

“Yulim Wilivia!!!”

‘Is it her?’

‘No… it can’t be her…’

‘Luosha promised to help me hide my departure from Sister Anna…’

Even as she thought this, Luosha’s voice immediately followed, reaching her ears.

“Anna, do you even know what ‘handle with care’ means?!”

“…Damn it! Hey! Stop, stop it, you idiot Anna! If you don’t have medical common sense, don’t move an injured person on your own! You’ll shake Yulim Wilivia apart!”

“Yulim Wilivia! *Hiss*… How are you so badly injured? Yulim Wilivia, you have to hold on! Don’t you dare fall asleep! I’ll heal you right away!”

“It’s my super-sized, business-grade Holy Light Healing!”

*Bling.*

Yulim Wilivia’s dimming vision was instantly filled with soft white light.

A surge of incredibly abundant life force welled up within her. Yulim Wilivia felt an unprecedented vitality coursing through her entire body.

At the same time, however, an inexplicable, unbearable, and eager-to-be-released strange sensation caused Yulim Wilivia to let out an extremely loud, delicate moan (or something similar).

“Hmph hmph, ahh ahh—”

Eve Wells, who was channeling the Holy Light, immediately frowned.

“Are you kidding me?!”

“Why does her Holy Light always make people moan three times when I use it to heal?!”

“Indeed, it’s not her fault; that book about the wondrous uses of Holy Light must have been utterly flawed!!”
